Gamestop will soon be running creative campaigns designed to gain attention and affection of the gaming community for the retailer giant most famous for their extremely high profit margin on used games, since they pay so little for trade-ins in most cases despite offering restricted deals on certain titles and situations.
In their quest to head off the rejection they would face if they do not carry the Microsoft XO (Xbox ONE) by the American public, Gamestop will offer new games for low prices using a variety of creative deals; but they aren’t really new though are they? No.
As all gamers should know by now and has been a headline news story multiple times this console generation, Gamestop allows its employees to take games out of their protective shrink wrap and bring them home to play them before they even come out. These discs are then later given back to Gamestop by the employee and sold to customers as “New” games, when in fact they should be considered Pre-Owned by Gamestop’s own policies and regulations were they not set out to ONLY BENEFIT Gamestop themselves.
In fact they would not accept your game as “New” for a return if you did the same, you will even be told that there’s actually a law against it to prevent mass duplication of discs but somehow it’s okay for Gamestop to do it to you!
This is all just a publicity stunt and Gamestop are scrambling for a way to win gamers’ hearts as next-generation game consoles level the playing field for consumers who have been duped into helping devalue their own products. Remember when games used to hold value? It was before Gamestop decided to start handing out pennies for used games for corporate greed. Support your gaming companies, not wanna-be Wall Street hustlers.
