New Fortnite: Battle Royale “Take To The Skies” Game Mode Leaked Ahead Of Today’s New 2.2.0 Map Update

Fortnite is a perpetual base-building zombie survival defense game and third-person shooter boasting over 40 million players in its new free-to-play version, Fortnite: Battle Royale, inspired by games like the original ArmA II mod, H1Z1: King of the Kill, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds but considerably different due to the higher quality polish on the title overall and completely game-changing base-building aspect. Recently the game has reached over 40 million registered players making it the most popular Battle Royale game with over 2 million concurrent players at once.

If you haven’t heard of the newly emerging sub-genre Battle Royale yet, it began on PC and has existed for years now in the form of mods. The basic concept of the Battle Royale is that 100 players all drop out of a plane into one enormous map and, as they land unarmed, must search their landing area for weapons and supplies. Every man is for himself and you can die from the most unexpected ways. There is a large circle spawned on the map, suddenly players have to make sure they are within this chosen area as it gets smaller, this is the only safe area outside of which a mysterious force will kill you. Eventually the safe zone is only large enough for one person to survive in and players make their way to it together fighting to the death with all they’ve gained looting thus far. The safe zones won’t be the same every match, so you never know where you’ll have to go exactly.

Fortnite does add a twist to this concept by having base-building as part of the game, but many times players must abandon the base to get to the safe zone. There are even some amazing players who can rapidly deploy base-building maneuvers in wildly unexpected ways that have been making the rounds in Fortnite highlight reels online as well. The battles are epic and seem like something of an ancient wizard face-off as platforms fly around everywhere being whimsically crafted brick by brick only with modern guns and swords usually involved as the ending result. But this is just the start of a genre we’d frankly like to see a lot more creativity from, and it seems recent news reports and leaks show Epic Games and Fortnite could be the only ones to do it.

Remember the 50 vs 50 Game Mode?

It all started with a Limited Time Only 50 versus 50 Game Mode for Fortnite: Battle Royale in which two teams would face off in the Battle Royale rather than every man for himself, duo (2 man teams), and squads (4 man teams) modes currently existing. Surprisingly, simple tweaks and creative game modes like this have actually not been tried much at all with regards to past Battle Royale games, and the sub-genre needs more of it or else it will become stale quickly for players over the coming months. And with both PubG and Fornite boasting a combined almost 100 million players both pay-to-play and free-to-play models of the game don’t want their hyped up, incredible growth to die down anytime soon.

The New Map Update & Patch Today 2.2.0 (1.35 PS4):

While Today marks the day of Fornite 2.2.0 Patch (also known as 1.35 for PS4 for some reason, but it’s the same patch), the game’s development team took the concept of reworking their map rather than introducing a new one at this time such as PubG has chosen to do. They’ve broken down the map into separate biomes in order to make each part feel like a truly different terrain, look, and feel to the area. There’s also the changes below:

  • More Content Per Square Inch
  • Less Wide Open Places To Run And Get Shot Out In The Open
  • Underground City: Mining city underground that can be used to build underground bases, and more.
  • New City: Another new city above ground.
  • Biomes: Enriched environmental features.
  • Discount Bundles on Battle Passes and increased Battle Pass Bonuses.
  • Winter Wrap Up Event 2017: The End of An Era, Now On To 2018 Content and removal of some winter items in Battle Royale, but Save The World Winter events have been extended until January 24, 2018.
  • Voice Chat Added to Pre-Game Lobby

Leaked: New Game Modes Possibly Coming to Fornite: Battle Royale!

A reddit user named haubna allegedly has located photo evidence of files within Fornite: Battle Royale’s new updated content pointing to the existence of even more game modes possibly being planned by the team at Epic Games. Keep in mind the actual purposes and descriptions of these games are just our own best guesses at RGN as to their meanings combined with rumblings in the fanbase and community of the Fornite game itself. All we know for sure right now are that these files exist in the game for a reason but may take some different final form and name if/when they ever get released.

FasterRings:

This is likely a mode where the safe zone is going to get smaller a lot faster, forcing players to rush to the finish in a quicker, more competitive and aggressive version of the classic Fornite: Battle Royale match.

TakeToTheSkies:

Nobody is quite sure what exactly this mode will be. The best guess seems to be that this game mode will simply be a more vertically-focused base-building experience. The “sky-bridges” and sky stairways we’ve all been building for fun or for strategic reasons could actually become a requirement in a mode like this where players might be forced to move upwards to stay safe as the safe zone rises in altitude. If so, there could also be an increased use in Launch Pads and Sky Bases could be a huge building experience. Hopefully this could be used for some large teams, but either way the potential is exciting.

LotsaLoot:

This may be a modifier for the game in which less of a survival experience is expected and more of a full-blown war and unrestricted online battles occur. Think of this as a larger arena with more weapons, building materials, and online opponents who also have more of these things.

RocketsAndGrenades:

This mode is expected to be similar to the classic version of the game but with tons of grenades, rocket launchers, and explosive materials / weaponry in order to encourage lots of base-building and base-destroying as well as just tons of mayhem.

SneakySilencers:

This mode actually did already debut in the game, and although I personally didn’t get a chance to play it – many players are excited for its return. In this mode, only silenced weaponry could be found in the game and there was an increase in shields as well as healing items while many other items were not featured in their normal amount. This created a totally new spin on the game and was presented in the 4 player squads version only.

SnipersOnly:

This one sort of tells itself. Although it opens more questions than answers at the same time. Obviously, it’s for sniping weaponry only. But we don’t know how much base-building will still matter, what other changes will be introduced to the game in order to make this mode stand-out, or if it’s literally just the simple modifier of Snipers only. Either way, it’s great to see some new ideas for what Battle Royale can be.

If Epic Games is able to rotate these modes in a way that keeps all of the available modes at any given time full, that would also be a great achievement. With 40 million installed players that should be do-able.

[Update: Vive Pro Announced, 2K Per Eye] HTC Vive Pro Leaked Following Vive 2 Speculations and Demand

Update: Vive Pro Announced, Built In Sound, 2K Per Eye, Wireless Sold Separately:

Below is a rumor post from before the announcement of the Vive Pro which contained rumors that the device would use 4K per Eye graphics technology. We now have the full announcement officially letting us know the following specs of the Vive Pro.

4K Graphics, but 2K Per Eye, Not what we expected but still a 37% increase in graphics capability – and rumored to get rid of “the screen door effect” by using a resolution of 2880 x 1600 per eye. The screens will now be OLED screens. Pixel Density is 615 pixels which is a 70% increase above the original Vive screens.

Sadly, Wireless will be sold separately still, although HTC did announce an Official Vive Wireless Adapter for both the HTC Vive and Vive Pro. For the first time, sound is built-in! The latest Vive controllers are expected to be included. It appears that foot tracking we wanted so badly to happen in a re-bundle of Vive just isn’t quite there yet either. While Lighthouse 2.0 technology is used for the Trackers that come with Vive Pro, a step up from Vive original trackers, the custom trackers we mentioned being crucial to open world gaming in our Vive 2 article will not be included. Despite not being quite what was expected, overall Vive Pro looks great and seeks to keep innovation going in the VR Gaming market.

Devil May Cry 5 to be announced during PSX 2017 (RUMOR)

Devil May Cry 5 has been heavily rumored since the release of the Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. CAPCOM has praised it as one of their best selling titles for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Even the actors who played Dante and Nero in Devil May Cry 4 have been seen in MoCap suits a few years back. I will tag that below, and keep you informed if this happens or not. Including a link to the trailer if it’s announced at all.

**Update: after seeing the HD Collection announced for the second time. Had no idea Nintendo and Platinum was going to announce Bayonetta 3 tonight. I really think they wanted to beat Devil May Cry to the punch. They are basically saying “Your move Capcom…”

Platinum Games just Tweeted an Interesting Picture of Bayonetta

DDx1WixUMAA0_8F

Platinum Games recently tweeted this interesting picture of Bayonetta to celebrate their new Japanese Twitter. Featuring Bayonetta on the top and bottom, in her respective looks in Bayonetta 1 and 2. The interesting thing is here, is that the top is blue and the bottom is red, the same colors as a pair of Joycons. It is slightly reaching but we all know Bayonetta 3 will eventually be made for the Nintendo Switch. Now this could be a slight hint at a port of Bayonetta 1 and 2 for the Switch, which will also be welcomed. What do you think? Think I’m having wishful thinking? Or if it’s a little tease for us Bayonetta fans.

New Overwatch Patch may have Leaked New Hero and returning Event

tracer_from_overwatch_game___speedpaint_by_renaillusion-da3jl0o

After the most recent update to Overwatch, making loot box changes, and adding the new lunar colony, a leak as came. Data miners have found codes saying “Doomfist / Summer Games”, which would make sense. The Summer Games season even is upon us again, and Doomfist has been heavily rumored for a long long time, since last fall. What do you think? You think we will see Summer Games 2 and Doomfist?

Nintendo Switch could get more Wii U Ports

super_smash_bros__4_switch_mock_up_poster_by_aydanadub1863-dax42nk

We all know the Wii U was not a heavy seller, but some of the games on it were amazing, and not too many people got a chance to play them. Reggie stated this in a recent interview with Waypoint. The interview is stated below. But what do you think? Do you want more Wii U ports like Super Smash Bros. , Bayonetta 2, and maybe even something like Tokyo Mirage Sessions?

“Given the install base of Wii U, there was some fantastic content that consumers did not get to play,” Fils-Aime said. “So that creates certainly a business opportunity. On the other hand, one of the things that we’ve discussed internally is, there really needs to be an additional element to that game to make it fresh, and to further compel the consumer to buy in.”

“I think the best example of that is Pokken Tournament Deluxe. Additional fighters, that gives the fan a reason to buy into it. Same is true with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, providing a mode that the consumers wanted in terms of a better battle mode, that was then included in that game. And so, I think the way we will continue to evaluate this is: yes, do we have opportunities with great games that maybe were not played as broadly on the Wii U, but then what’s the plus alpha that’s going to make it really compelling for the consumer?”

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch release date possibly leaked by Amazon

Link-In-Skyrim-

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may have had it’s release date leaked via Amazon. The release date listed by the giant that is Amazon. Is November 28th of this year, which makes sense, after the big Super Mario Odyssey, and right before Xenoblade Chronicles 2. What do you think? Does this release date sound likely to you?

L.A. Noire remaster for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch may be in the works, Alongside with a first person/VR Mode (RUMOR)

lanoire_phelps_reefermadness_1920x1200

It appears that the rumors of the L.A. Noire remaster may indeed be true. The rumor started back in January of this year, from the same user who leaked the GTA IV expansions years ago. Several sources have backed this up since then, and RGN has reached out to Rockstar for a statement on the matter. Listed below are some of tweets from industry insiders who I consider trustworthy. Supposedly we will see sometime at the end of the summer, so expect a August or September release date.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered getting a Physical Release (RUMOR)

call_of_duty_modern_warfare_remastered_standalone_leak

The leak suggest that Modern Warfare Remastered may be getting a release for $39.99 today or next week June 27th. It’s sort of crazy to think they could pull a fast and quick release like this, but who knows. As the image above is supposedly a real copy that a unnamed realtor has obtained in advance. RGN has reached out to Activison for a statement with no response, we will cover this story closely.

New Monster Hunter game in development for Nintendo Switch (RUMOR)

Nintendo-20170109-MonsterHunter

The man who had stated that Monster Hunter World was coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC has now said that CAPCOM is developing a new Monster Hunter game for the Switch. Instead of a port of Monster Hunter World or localizing Monster Hunter XX.” Now this just a rumor of course and we don’t have much information to go on, but it is the same person who leaked Monster Hunter World, so he may still be a trust worthy source. What do you think? Is CAPCOM developing a separate and new Monster Hunter title for the Nintendo Switch?

Blizzard may be Remastering Diablo II and Warcraft III

diablo_2_boxart.0.0

Blizzard has put out a job listing that states “Compelling stories. Intense multiplayer. Endless replay ability. Qualities that made StarCraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II the titans of their day. Evolving operating systems, hardware, and online services have made them more difficult to be experienced by their loyal followers or reaching a new generation. We’re restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done.” The listing is for a Senior Software Engineer, and this listing suggest that they will come out through Blizzards Launcher. We know Starcraft Remastered is releasing this summer this doesn’t seem to far fetched at all. What do you think? Is something you’d like to see if the pricing is reasonable?

“UPDATED” Rumor: Grand Theft Auto V is the next game to receive “Creation Club” style paid mods

Grand Theft Auto V DLC - Paid Mods - Creation Club - OPENIV 2017

UPDATE: Take-Two brings back Mods for GTA V: http://realgamernewz.com/52278/modding-returns-to-grand-theft-auto-v

Original Story Below

Take-Two Interactive recently made waves in the video games industry by creating a cease-and-desist order which resulted in the removal and banning of OpenIV, a tool used for years by video game modders who sought to improve the experience of GTA IV and GTA V on the PC Gaming platform through after-market special graphics textures and effects, new game modes, extra characters, missions, and beyond.

Rockstar Games was quick to note that Take-Two Interactive acted without their instruction in issuing the cease-and-desist. Mods have been crafted over long periods of time through a snowball effort combined by community members of the years of both games – allowing a huge library of GTA mods to accumulate. The removal of OpenIV from the internet essentially shuts down this community, ends this progress, and detains all GTA mods to the doghouse of being taboo underground collector’s files that most gamers won’t get to experience other than vicariously through YouTube videos.

Grand Theft Auto V DLC - Paid Mods - Creation Club - OPENIV 2017 b

Suddenly, years later after being hush – now there’s a problem? Why now? After so much time has passed, the PC edition of the GTA V has been out for years and the development of modding tools and content for GTA IV has even led to even greater success in modding GTA V. Many of the mods released for the game simply enhance the look of it to a level of god-like graphical fidelity dubbed “Reality” or “Real Life” mods because they look so good at this point. The preliminary reasons given are that OpenIV allowed multiplayer mods to interfere with GTA Online – something we always knew would become a problem since this time around Rockstar Games charges money in-game in their online gameplay.

However, many of us gamers and journalists have perhaps failed to see what was right before our eyes. I went back and forth for hours with anonymous sources speaking off-record to RealGamerNewZ about the announcement for what is basically being seen as “the end to GTA mods” currently on the internet. Instead, this action has seemingly been in timing with a certain other industry event we’ve all taken notice of. While unable to confirm or deny the realization they’d guided us to, our source all but revealed that Rockstar Games could soon have a way to work hand-in-hand with mod content developers and get them paid for their hard work.

Grand Theft Auto V DLC - Paid Mods - Creation Club - OPENIV 2017 c

Exactly what this would look like remains to be seen, as well as whether or not plans for such a community-driven yet developer-monitored content development pipeline had already existed before this knee-jerk reaction to Bethesda’s “Creation Club” service. The industry could be seeing GTA V receive a very similar treatment in an experimental, but influential time during gaming.

Further explanation of this new trend for paid mods continued: “-with high approval rating among devs eager to help with the certification or even development of mods; as mods becoming more polished like DLC and guided content with compensation for mod developers.”

“We also know that there won’t be a ‘GTA VI’ or ‘Fallout 5’ for a long time. These developers are busy making New IPs, new installments to other franchises, and need time to make sure those new games are as huge as they possibly should be and could be. Content Creators being given safe, profitable, official ways to promote existing games into a higher quality, more fun product gives games more of a chance at a long life span hopefully filling that need until the next product is ready.”

At the time of this post RealGamerNewZ has reached out to Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games to attempt to verify the likelihood of these claims. Additional information which was not approved for release by our sources is also being vetted and further investigated and we will update this story as it progresses.

Currently there are large growing petitions online for Take-Two Interactive to let OpenIV bring itself back online, but at least if this Rumor pans out we can have some closure and sense of how to move forward for a large community of fans who love PC Gaming and love Grand Theft Auto.
