CD Projekt Red Details The Witcher III’s New Game Plus DLC Features

Yesterday saw the blockbuster announcement, about New Game Plus being the last of the Witcher III‘s free DLCs. Obviously many fans had questions, so community manager Marcin Momot took to the official forums to answer them. Players can expect stronger enemies, the ability to play NG+ on any difficulty and more.

Momot’s response on NG+ features:

  • Enemies will be stronger obviously.
  • What carries over? Player experience (if you’re below level 30 when finishing the vanilla game, you will be bumped to level 30 for the start of NG+), items (excluding: quest items, books & letters, Gwent cards, usable items, trophies) and alchemy recipes.
  • When starting New Game Plus you can select any difficulty level.
  • You can obtain the Death Match achievement when playing the NG+ mode.
  • What’s the starting level of the character when beginning NG+? The same that you had when finishing the game, if above 30, otherwise you start at 30. You also get a free Clearing Potion at the start so you can reset your skills and try a different build.

CD hasn’t provided a release date of DLC, so stay tuned.

New Game Plus will be The Witcher III’s Final Free DLC

If you were in need of an incentive to play through CD Projekt Red’s ‘The Witcher III: Wildhunt’, then you’re in luck. It has been revealed that the game’s 16th and final piece of free content, will be a New Game Plus mode.

With NG+, players will be able to restart Geralt’s adventure, while retaining whatever they acquired during their previous playthrough– including character level, upgrades, weapons and more. NG+ won’t release this week as it is still being worked.

Stay tuned to RGN for more info.

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Official Game Guide Review

The Witcher III is a massive open-world game with loads to do. It may be hard to keep track of all those side quests and treasures hunts, to the point where the game might overwhelm. Luckily Prima Games has you covered with their extensive strategy guide. Is it worth it you may ask. Well, is Nekker ugly as hell?

Taking into consideration that not everyone who picks up a copy of the game will be familiar with the series, the guide goes into great detail introducing newcomers to its lore and characters. There is also huge tutorial section devoted to teaching readers the fundamentals of the game; from combat to concocting potions, it’s all there. Reading these sections will keep you from starting up Witcher III feeling like a complete noob.

Every quest within the game, whether it be the main story quests, side quests or Witcher contracts, are covered in rich detail, with clear pics and accurate descriptions on how to succeed. They don’t just inform on what to do and where to go, but also help you to prepare for certain enemy encounters by informing you of which potions and oils to use. The guide provides extremely helpful tips on fighting the game’s Bosses — whether its members of the wild hunt or whatever monster Geralt sets out to kill, they will help you get out of a bind and emerge victorious.

One of the Witcher III’s earlier missions.

The Witcher III is very story heavy game, so Prima Games were courteous enough to include spoiler alert warnings for each mission. The warnings come in four levels, the higher the level, the bigger the spoiler. It is an extremely considerate move on Prima’s part and one they should be commended for it. There are also multiple endings in the game but they’re not all happy ones. If you are worried about unlocking the bad ending have no fear! The guide will show you how to avoid such heartbreak.

Reading through the Atlas of the Northern Realms chapter of the guide will provide extensive knowledge of the game’s many regions. Featuring detailed maps for each territory, with the locations of each quest, enemies, points of interests and any place worth exploring, players will never have to worry about trying to figure out where to go. This chapter only further adds to how impressive the guide is.

White Orchard Territory

Players will find themselves face down some pretty fierce enemies. Thankfully he guide’s Beastiary offers plenty of information on what they’ll encounter, and also provides combat tactics to help ensure their survival. If you find yourself on the receiving end of a brutal ass kicking, I highly suggest you read the Beastiary.

There really doesn’t seem to be anything missing in this end. It also features stats for every usable item within the game, from weapons and armor, to fruits and vegetables. It’s all there. Want to make sure Geralt gets a chance at love? It’s covered. Want be the best damn Gwent card player ever? The guide lists every single card, its effectiveness and how to locate it. Need to find all the places of power or help unlocking any of the Witcher III’s achievements/trophies, you’re in good hands. It’s.All.There! If this guide is missing coverage on something, I can’t find it.

One little potential issue I have spotted, is with the font size utilized in some sections of the guide. It is a bit smaller than what is normally used. While my vision is fine and I didn’t really have trouble making out what was written down, others might. It may not be a huge deal but it is still worth mentioning. Especially if your eyesight isn’t the best but you don’t wear glasses.

In the back of the guide, is a code for a free copy of the digital version (Normally $9.99). Having the ability to read the guide via your PC or mobile device can offer great convenience.

Collector’s Edition Note: If you pick up the hardcover Collector’s Edition of the guide, you will be treated to an amazing 32-page art section filled with outstanding art of the game’s enemies, characters and environment. There is also a bonus 96-page compendium featuring lore, biographical notes, more art and other interesting bits of information. Those who are really interesting in the world of the Witcher III should pick up the CE, it’s worth the extra bucks.

A section of the Grimoire

Final Verdict:

Despite the occasional dip in font size, Prima Games’ guide for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is outstanding. The coverage is extensively detailed and accurate. The strategies and tactics are actually quite useful and the author’s were highly considerate of their readers. It is pretty obvious a lot of care when into the making of this.  Prima Games simply delivered! Buy it!

In this 15 minutes of gameplay footage Jesse shows us some of his experiences with the game thus far, [SPOILER FREE] and brings the pain to some of its masterfully crafted enemies. Official Gameplay of The Witcher 3 Shows Nearly 9 Minutes of the Game Uncut

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Official Gameplay - RealGamerNewz

Not everyone in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to just tell you the truth up-front. Sometimes your Witcher senses will be called upon to determine the true nature of a situation and see through the lies of others. Taking it upon yourself to determine the reactions to these situations, and obtaining what others desire without truthfully knowing exactly what’s so important about these goods can lead to strange outcomes.

In the following 8 minutes and 51 seconds of raw gameplay released by CD Projekt RED today such a quest is experienced first hand entitled “Precious Cargo” and uploaded by our video partners in full 60 frames per second high definition quality. *Editor’s Note: There is no indication at this time that this is the quality the console versions will run at. Check out the full game when it releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox ONE, and Windows PC on May 19, 2015.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Behind The Scenes

Cinema meets Video Games as Charles Dance (from Game of Thrones) speaks about his performance in the upcoming fantasy, role playing, action / adventure game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and how games have evolved over time to draw in more and more mature audiences.

No longer are there limitations to what the visual aspects of a game can produce. In many respects, the act of feeling as if you are within the experience, or “present”, paired with the fact that video game graphics now rival and often surpass CG found in films means that a AAA game production can have superior storytelling to a big-budget blockbuster.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt runs on REDengine 3 with Umbra 3 PhysX and SpeedTree tools implemented and will become available on PlayStation 4, Xbox ONE, and Windows PC (through GOG and Steam) on May 19, 2015 and promises to be quite an epic experience. The Witcher 3 Gone Gold

CD Projekt RED have announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is ready to be pressed onto the Blu-Ray discs that will bring much joy to the crowds of gamers heavily anticipating its release and likely uploaded to Steam / GOG as well for the many PC Gamers equally excited for the upcoming AAA Action RPG title.

The developer has stated numerous times that they believe the game will graphically please players no matter which platform they choose to play on and obviously gamers are expecting it to shine the most on the Windows PC assuming you have the parts in your machine to make that possible. May 19, 2015 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release for PS4, Xbox ONE, and Windows PC with tons of open world features that could rival any game in the genre. If you missed it, check out the Dev Overview Video w/ Gameplay.

“-we literally spent tens of thousands of hours to turn all that into an adventure that will kick your ass and make you want to come for more.” – Direct Quote from CD Projekt RED’s Adam Badowski

The Witcher 3 RealGamerNewz PC Xbox ONE PS4

Now that the title is gold the development of two newly announced expansion packs will continue forward. In Hearts of Stone there will be over 10 hours of No Man’s Land and Oxenfurt gameplay surrounding some sort of mysterious contract with Geralt as the main player and deception as a key theme.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - Collector Edition

Blood and Wine is over 20 hours and instead introduces Geralt to an entire region called Toussaint where, again, secrecy is an occurring theme that will eventually be unfolded over the course of the expansion content.

It’s currently unknown what exactly will come of these expansions but CD Projekt RED feels our pain as to DLC not always living up to expectations and urges players to hold back if they have doubts. They even explicitly state there is no need to buy them now, but the options is there, and mark their intentions to draw from the earlier time of PC Gaming days when expansions really meant something substantial and were worth the dollar amount since they really added to the games.

Excerpt from the Official Press Release:

Hearts of Stone will premiere in October, while Blood and Wine is slated for release in the first quarter of 2016.

Both expansions will be available on all three platforms: Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4.”

Editor’s Note: There will also be 16 Free DLCs for the game included for everyone.

The Witcher 3 Xbox ONE UK Bundle

In addition to all of this news revolving around The Witcher 3 we also now know that there will be Xbox ONE consoles being sold with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt included. This appears to be a Europe, Middle East, and Africa only thing for the time being and is being released on May 19, 2015 in the UK for £310 British Pounds (we thought they use Euros over there? So much for the New World Order 🙂 ). The price and release date for other countries has not yet been revealed. There will be a standard controller, HDMI cable, and power cord, with a standard black Xbox ONE console in the bundle and the game itself is going to be a digital voucher for download over Xbox LIVE as most bundles these days are.
