The Division Xbox One Beta Delayed, Closed Alpha Releases this Week

Xbox One owners who were looking forward to playing the Beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division this month, will now have to wait until early 2016. Not to worry though,as Ubisoft has confirmed that those who pre-order the upcoming open-world action-RPG on X1, will receive priority access to the closed alpha, which will run from December 9-12.

Access to the closed alpha may be granted to those on the wishlist on, “as needed basis”.

“This exclusive Xbox One alpha testing phase in December will be the first time the public gets to play a version of The Division that includes more than the Dark Zone PvP enabled areas. This means the moment you and other players sign into the game, you’ll be giving us valuable insight into how our infrastructure performs under pressure that we can’t replicate internally or at a tradeshow. This process allows us to monitor and gather additional feedback on other aspects of The Division, as well.”

You can find Ubisoft’s FAQ about the close Alpha.

The Division Alpha FAQ

1. Which platforms is the alpha available on?

Tom Clancy’s The Division Alpha will be available on Xbox One.

2. What are the start and end times for the Alpha?

The alpha will begin December 9 at 10 AM CET | 4 AM EST | 1 AM PST and will end December 12 at 9AM | 3 AM EST | 12 AM PST CET. We will begin sending codes on December 7, so keep an eye on your email.

3. Can I upload videos to Youtube or livestream the game?

No. There is an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) for this alpha. By accepting the NDA, you are agreeing to not disclose alpha information and footage to the public. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Capturing gameplay content
  • Livestreaming
  • Posting images
  • Discussing the alpha anywhere outside of the alpha forums.

Please keep in mind that The Division Alpha is not a final representation of the game. For this alpha, we will be focusing mainly on gameplay feedback and other technical aspects such as server stability. This is the first time The Division will actively be in a public testing phase, so signing an NDA is required to participate.

4.What regions and country is the alpha available in?

The alpha will be available worldwide except for Japan and China.

5.What languages are supported in the alpha?

The game client (voices, subtitles and interface) will only be available in English for this alpha. Additional languages will be available in the beta in early 2016 and at launch.

6. What is the size of the alpha game client?

The download size of the alpha will be 23.2 GB.

The Division will launch on March 8, 2016 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Those who pre-order the game will gain access to the closed beta on their respective platforms in the early part of 2016.

The Walking Dead: Michonne Premieres in Feb 2016, Will Now Be a Stand-alone Series

Now that will no longer be the case as Telltale’s Head of creative Communications, Job Stauffer has confirmed via Twitter, that Michonne “will now be a stand-alone series”.

New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game being Developed by PlatinumGames

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

It appears PlatinumGames is currently working on a new video game starring everyone’s favorite sewer dwelling heroes. The Australian Classification Board recently posted a rating for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, citing violence, mild themes and very mild language as reasons for its ‘M’ rating. Bear in mind an Australian ‘M’ rating is the equivalent to a ‘T’ rating in North America, so no need to become worried about it being too much for the young ones.

The game will apparently run on multiple platforms (No surprise) and feature online interactivity, hopefully 4-player co-op.

This marks the third licensed video game Platinum has developed for Activision, with The Legend of Korra and Transformers: Devastation being the previous two.

Stay tuned for more info.

Afro Samurai 2 Cancelled, Deemed a “Failure”, Refunds Going Out

The sequel to the 2009 video game is being removed from online stores, including Steam, Xbox Marketplace and the PlayStation store. Volumes 2 and 3 of Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma have also been cancelled according to developer Versus Evil in their recent interview with CGMagazine, citing the first volume as a “failure”. Players who purchase Vol. 1 will be issued refunds.

So we’ve begun the process, it’s been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way, but we’re returning all the money. So across the board we’re putting out an apology saying ‘sorry about this,” Versus Evil general manager Steve Escalante told CGMagazine.

Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma launched back in September for PC and PS4 (Oct for Xbox One) to a complete thrashing from critics and. The PS4 currently sits at 21/100 on Metacritic with 15 negative reviews.
