Tech Round Up: Darbee Vision DVP-5000S

RealGamerNewZ DVP 5000s

Have you ever wondered can you get better quality from your devices, can I squeeze just a little bit more graphics from it ? Now you can with the Darbee Vision DVP-5000S. When you are playing any game be it on the PC or console you may not notice any changes in the image if you upgrade your HDMI to a more expensive and better quality one. But as soon as you plug in the DVP-5000S you can tell the difference and it’s HUGE! The quality jumps by 110%, you can see more of the image depth and at a better quality then running it off the regular screen be it TV or PC monitor. I did a test where with the standalone HDMI cable and the GPU at max then I compared the images one with the device on and one with the device off and honestly I don’t see why people aren’t getting this device for their gaming in particular!

This gives anyone the quality the want from a graphics card with it being the most expensive one out there. When I first started using this device I was skeptical about it. I was like “I don’t this is going to make that big of a difference to it at all.” But after playing Overwatch for 3 hours using this device I can honestly say you’d have to be crazy not to get one of these with your gaming rig. Even if you just want better quality videos this device has you covered. I hope that you guys will give it a shot and please let me know how it looks on your end!!! I can tell you for a fact that you won’t be disappointed. In the package you get the DVP 5000S , an HDMI cable, the power adapter and the remote. All in a sleek compact box. When you first connect this device you automatically see the difference and you won’t want to play with out this device.

The only problem with this is that when you first connected the device it bugs just a little but within the first ten minutes of tinkering with it the minor glitch goes away and you are ready to play to your hearts content. When you pair this up with a good monitor and a great graphics card you get a great streaming combo that beats out anyone else’s build to the ground. You can see this quality even when being streamed, hope to prove this later down the road. The real stress test will come in a few weeks when I do a 72 hour live stream to see if the device will hold ups and still functions under those conditions.

If the DVP-5000s holds up to the test then it will definitely be a device to have in your arsenal of tech!

Gioteck HC-2 Stereo Headset Review

The Gioteck HC-2 Stereo Headset is a cable connected PS4 compatible gaming headset. It features large padded over ear speakers, an adjustable headband, a retractable mic, volume control and a mute sliding bar.

The HC-2 has clear surround sound audio with ample bass. Though it was made for the PS4 and Xbox One, it is also compatible with phones, tablets and PC, maintaining performance across devices. While playing The Evil Within, I was able to tell with greater distinction, the location of enemies by their breathing and footsteps as they moved nearer or further away. Which was convenient in maneuvering at better timed moments.

Though at first the headset is very comfortable, it only remains so for a short time before the pressure turns painful. The mic movement is very stiff, perhaps in an attempt to prevent movement during use. However, this creates a weak spot in the bend at the base of the connection to the headset. Attempting to adjust the position of the mic while holding anything but the base will result in a crack or full on break.

Final Verdict:

Skip it!

While the performance of the HC-2 is good, I would not recommend it due to the fact that it isn’t likely to last very long. What is has in performance, it lacks in durability.

PDP Afterglow Kral Wireless PS4 Headset Review

The Afterglow Kral Wireless Headset for PS4, is the latest in gaming accessories from company, PDP. With countless gaming headsets out on the market, does the Kral deliver, or does it fail to set itself apart from the crowd?

The Kral’s has an appealing look and comfortable design. Its plush, polyurethane ear pads, fit wonderfully and feel really nice. Thankfully the headband features the same soft material underneath it, to keep from cutting into the top of your head. For those with bigger/wider heads than mine, it can be adjusted to accommodate for your size. The headset features transparent lenses on the outside of the ear pads, which allows you to see the circuit boards within. Its not a game changer but if you care for something like that, then it is pretty cool to see the inner workings of your device. Another cool feature is the bright blue LED light, that not only looks great but also acts as an indicator for the headset’s different statuses or modes.

All interactions with the Kral will be done on the left ear pad, thanks to the wise decision to place each button and port in one area. Don’t worry, they are properly spaced from one another, so you won’t end up accidentally hitting the mute button when you really want to change the volume. One minor gripe I have, is with its retractable microphone. While it is flexible, works amazingly for voice chat and is easy to take out when ready for use, putting it back in takes a little more effort than it should. Like I said, it is only a minor gripe and doesn’t hurt the overall experience with the headset. Ultimately, it is still a brilliantly designed product.

Kral volume

Setting up on the PS4 is a breeze. Just plug in the wireless transmitter to one of the PS4’s USB ports, turn on the headset and you are good to go. No need to go through the trouble of syncing the transmitter with the Kral, as they’ve saved you trouble packaging them already synced. If you do happen to come across any issues, then the detailed instruction manual will be of great help. Having used wired devices in the past, it is refreshing to go wireless this time around. No need to worry about tangled cords getting in the way and you have more freedom to move around. Speaking of moving around, the wireless transmitter’s range is an incredible 100 feet, meaning you can keep the headset on as you run to downstairs to answer the door, or whatever else you need to do. You’ll be pleased to know that I have yet to encounter any interference, while being far away.

All of the aforementioned wouldn’t matter, if the headset’s audio quality wasn’t up to par. PDP set out to deliver a product that allowed gamers, to hear the games as the developers intended and boy did they deliver. On top of providing crystal clear audio, for the sounds you normally hear, you’ll also notice every little nuance that would have otherwise been missed. From the soft footsteps of your gaming protagonist to the plane flying off in the distance and more. It really adds to the experience, making any game — with a great sound design, more enjoyable than before. Action games feel more action packed, and horror games are, well… more horrifying. I mean seriously, it feels like that creepy voice in the dark is actually behind you, breathing in your ear, taunting you. It’s unnerving and I love it. The headset also does a great job of balancing out the in-game audio with the audio of your fellow players when using game chat. If you don’t find it balanced enough, you can always adjust the settings to find the perfect set up for you.

The Kral features a second audio mode for those of you, like myself, who love a lot of bass in their life. The Bass Boost mode does exactly what the name implies, its amplifies the low end frequency, giving that extra kick to any scenario. Explosions have much more of an impact than ever before. Scoring a head shot in Sniper Elite III, literally made my jaw drop due to how powerful it felt. It is also a great for listening to music with a lot of bass and movies with action heavy scenes and particular scores. Opinions will differ but personally, this is by far my favorite way to utilize the headset and I don’t even bother using the excellent default mode. It is amazing how PDP managed to keep the enhanced bass frequency from compromising the clean audio. If you want more depth to your audio experience, then this is the mode and headset for you.

I’m all about that Bass, bout that Bass!

While this is marketed as PlayStation 4 headset, this bad boy is also compatible with PC and mobile devices. Setting up via the USB transmitter on my laptop, was just as easy as on my PS4. The process wasn’t instant, but it only took around two minutes, so it wasn’t an issue. For a quicker set up, you can connect the headset with the included 3.5 mm audio cable but I would only recommend doing so, if you are unfortunate enough to lose your transmitter. The audio quality is still great, but you won’t be able to use the Bass Boost mode while wired, not to mention you lose the advantage of going wireless. Still it is great to have the option. You can also go wired with your smartphone and listen to music, watch videos, game, whatever your vice, with the same crystal clear quality. The microphone still works as well, so if you want to have a phone conversation of any kind, you can.

The battery life is absolutely impressive, it really does last up to 10 hours as it claims on the box, if not a little longer. Playing games, watching videos, listening to music and chatting on Skype over the course of two days before finally hearing the little audio beep that signals it is time to charge, surprised the hell out of me. The battery itself is rechargeable via the 6-foot play and charge cable. As the name suggest users will be able to charge the headset while you game, listen to music and so forth, so you do’t have to worry about any interruptions.

Final Verdict:

The Afterglow Kral is a beast of a headset, comfortable, featuring a great design and outstanding audio. It greatly benefits from being a wireless device but PDP were kind enough to include the option to go wired as well. The fact that it works for multiple devices and is easy to set up is an added plus. I can’t praise the Bass Boost audio mode enough. Though it is priced a bit high ($100), it is very much worth it and any PS4\PC owner looking to pick up a headset should definitely purchase it. It is the best gaming headset I’ve had the pleasure of using.

Rosewill RK-9200 Dual LED Illuminated Mechanical Keyboard Review

Rosewill RK9200 Review - RealGamerNewz - Newegg

When it comes to gaming keyboards, one who has never used one might wonder – why? It’s just a keyboard after all right, they are all the same – right? Keyboards are definitely not all made the same though, and just a few seconds of typing with the Rosewill RK-9200 Dual LED Illuminated Mechanical Keyboard make that clear right away for anyone with half of a kill at using a keyboard.

In terms of luxury features, there’s a lot of that here as well. Each key is individually back-lit meaning that they will always have a strong glow. You can set your keys to one color, and then WASD and Arrow keys to a different color to cause them to stand out when your hands are lost on the keyboard mid-game and you need to quickly re-assert yourself. This has proven to be extremely useful. The two colors the keyboard supports are Green and Red with a number of brightness settings including a Pulsing Brightness Cycle.

For this review, the RK-9200 I had was using the Cherry MX Switch set (Blues) the RK-9200 allows more than 3 keys to be pressed in at once allowing for a more tactile and accurate experience when playing games, meaning there’s less thought about the input device going on through the player’s mind during gameplay, and more focus on the action.

Comfort Level: High / Accuracy Level: High

Helios RK-9200 Series Review - RealGamerNewz - Newegg

Specs / Features:

  • 104 Keys / 12 Key Rollover / Individually Backlit Keys
  • 3 Blue LED CAPS/NUM/SCROLL Lock Indicators
  • Cherry MX Blue Switch: Key stroke: 4.0mm+/-0.5mm
  • Operating Force: 50 grams / Life Cycle: 50 Million Times
  • 58″ Removable Braided USB Cable
  • FN + F Shortcut and Media Keys / Windows Key Lock/Unlock
  • 5 Backlight Modes (Low/Med/Max/Breathe/Off)
  • Limited Warranty period (parts): 1 year

Final Verdict:

Overall the best thing about this device is the fact that it’s accurate, immediate, and provides an input that can be trusted for upcoming titles like Dead Island: Epidemic, The Witcher III, and more. The keyboard sits firmly with a good amount of weight that keeps it from slipping and sliding while gaming.

ControllerMAX (AKA CronusMax) Tech Review

Controller MAX

This device has the ability to make a game better without the need to wait for official patches to be approved. It also has the ability to make you better at a game. Putting aside for a minute the many detailed cross-platform features which this review will get into later, the CronusMAX (or ControllerMAX as it has been renamed to) is capable of adjusting, tweaking, and literally hacking the input your game console receives. This even works with next-generation game consoles like the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox ONE. By purchasing this device and using the accompanying software, players become part of a community of users that develop and release miniature patches that go into the device as plug-ins and can be designed to improve the performance of controls for any particular game (for example fixing the dead-zones for Gears of War Judgement to a player’s liking). These plug-ins can then be adjusted or completely modified / re-written by the end-user as well. This opens the doors to a very much never-ending chain of possibilities.

Gtuner software mentions scripts and modding making it the world’s first ever rapid fire function accessory for next-gen controllers and including enhanced deadzone updates to existing library of games and much more drive by community or even self-programmed if you have the knowledge.

The prize feature of this device though is that it allow gamers to use virtually any existing fighting sticks, racing wheels, and other accessories across next-generation game consoles in addition to the opposite console families they were designed for. That is to say that gamers can actually use this device to control the PlayStation with Xbox accessories or the other way around. Also a huge benefit is the support for DualShock 4 functionality extended to many PC games which currently won’t work without scripting applications that are a bit unreliable to say the least. Using the Gtuner software that is free to access, the ControllerMAX device makes playing PC games with a DualShock 4 much more practical.

Cronus MAX Review - RealGamerNewz

The only negative feature about this device is that there is no beginner mode or ‘noob’-friendly way to set up the device. Users must get the software on their own and configure the device to the latest Firmware (a few times Windows automatic hardware recognition got in the way of this, causing some necessary trial and error to follow while doing first set-up procedure). Users must also do their own research to how the device works using the site’s manual or other community guidelines which are not always extremely easy to figure out. Once this is done, and a fairly technical person can do it quickly, then the device has an immense amount of potential uses that can be unlocked by the user with a little patience, finesse, and downloading. However, for a beginner / ‘noob’ user this is not a device you want to purchase without extensive research or having a tech-savvy friend around to set it up for you.

The device must be told which output format to give (Xbox 360/PlayStation 3/PlayStation 4/etc.) and then the controllers/accessories that will be plugged into it must each be given a profile. Again, this isn’t exactly difficult once a tech-savvy person gets the process going properly, but newcomers to this niche of accessory devices will have a hard time – and some might not be able to successfully use this device at all. We hope that in the future ControllerMAX will have a more user-friendly version for beginners to use their software and hardware device.

Final Verdict:

This is hands down the most powerful accessory for input/output on the market and is very diverse with enough intuitive interface design to easily surpass the user experience of any software alone. The hardware aspect really does make a difference. RealGamerNewz highly recommends the ControllerMAX and rates it an overall score of 9 out of 10 making it an RGN Gold Accessory.
