L.A. Noire remaster for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch may be in the works, Alongside with a first person/VR Mode (RUMOR)

lanoire_phelps_reefermadness_1920x1200

It appears that the rumors of the L.A. Noire remaster may indeed be true. The rumor started back in January of this year, from the same user who leaked the GTA IV expansions years ago. Several sources have backed this up since then, and RGN has reached out to Rockstar for a statement on the matter. Listed below are some of tweets from industry insiders who I consider trustworthy. Supposedly we will see sometime at the end of the summer, so expect a August or September release date.

Rocket League developer talks about Crossplay and it what it means

3008063-rocketleague_xbox_2016_8

As we know now, Rocket League is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and will support crossplay features with Xbox One, and PC. Jeremy Dunham the Vice President of Psyonix stated that crossplay increase the longevity of these types of games. He stated that “I think without cross-network play you’re almost holding back the advancement of games in a way.” He went into further detail in his interview with IGN, but this statement summarizes his thoughts. I agree of course, as it does seem to help these sorts of games, and allows people across platforms to play with another. What do you think?

Beyond Good and Evil 2 Trailer Breakdown, Platforms Confirmed

beyond-good-and-evil-2-space-monkey-program-bevestigt-platformen-113331-1

The creator of Rayman, Rabbids, and of course Beyond Good and Evil, Michael Ancel. He goes into depth about the trailer of the game, and the story, some of the characters, and gameplay elements we can expect. Beyond Good and Evil 2 has also been confirmed for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC no release date clearly. The game has been in development for 3 years, those years focusing heavily on the technology behind the game. With no word on a release schedule, my bets are Fall 2019 by the earliest, hopefully 2018 but doubtful. But we will see, depending on the technology and the team, it could come out sooner. Stay tuned at RGN for everything Beyond Good and Evil 2.

What Bethesda’s Creation Club means

creation_club.0

As we all know by now, at E3 Bethesda announced their new system Creation Club. Which provides new paid content for Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. Or how Bethesda put’s it from their own Creation Club page “Creation Club is a collection of all-new content for both Fallout 4 and Skyrim. It features new items, abilities, and gameplay created by Bethesda Games Studios and outside development partners including the best community creators. Creation Club content is fully curated and compatible with the main game and official add-ons.”

The way I see this is more of a lie. They are claiming these are more like DLC or Expansions, but they are having modders release this content. They are selling people mods. Now I don’t see the biggest issue with it, aside from them lying about it. As long as the mods are up to par with “DLC quality content.” From the launch lineup I would not say it is quality or worth your hard earned cash. As it is mainly weapons and apparel you can just download for free elsewhere. The content the Creation Club can provide is “Weapons, Apparel, World, Characters, Creatures, and Gameplay.”

Weapons, Apparel, Creatures, and Characters speak for themselves. But World is more akin to locations, like new maps, some added foliage, so maybe some texture updates, and even simple decorations. Gameplay is explained as “New types of gameplay like survival mode, etc.” So maybe some actual new additions, Fallout Kart Racing?

Now the content that should be produced, should be something like expansions, think the Dragonborn Expansion, which adds a new location, new storyline, new weapons, outfits, gameplay features, etc. That is what Bethesda should offer, instead of a new gun or sword by themselves for $1.99. As of now we can’t say how it will turn out, but if they are going to do this, and the content creators are going to get paid to produce high quality content, then we as consumers need to hold them to an example of producing good “DLC” (Mods).

I am all for this if it is genuine content that continues the life of games people love like Fallout 4 and Skyrim. But this could set a awful precedent in the industry if mishandled like Bethesda’s previous attempt at paid mods. One of the biggest things was they were not curated mods, this time they are, or least should be, since the modders/content creators will be paid and employees after they apply for the Creation Club, and are accepted. Let’s just hope they can manage this, and their store won’t be filled with paid horse armor that’s purely cosmetic.

Xbox One X – Everything you need to know

xboxonex

Several days ago, Microsoft showed the world the new Xbox One X, which they call “The World’s most powerful console” which is a true statement. Xbox One X features faster processing power compared to the Xbox One, “The 8-core Custom AMD CPU is clocked at 2.3GHz to bring enhanced AI, real world detail, and smoother interactions to your gaming.” The Xbox One X also features 12 GB of GDDR5 of graphical memory allowing for better draw distance, and bigger worlds. A good example of this is the E3 Demo’s of Assassin’s Creed Origins. The 6 Teraflop GPU also also for more detail, more lifelike environments ranging from trees, to water, to faces. Xbox One X uses advanced liquid cooling and the supercharger-style centrifugal fan which allows it stay cool and also maintain a small size, it is the smallest console Microsoft has ever made, being much smaller than the Xbox One and Xbox One S, despite having much better hardware.

The Xbox One X is also capable of playing games at 4K and 60 fps. Now this ranges from game to game, what developers decide to do, and what the system is even capable of. Forza Motorsport 7 is true 4K and 60fps, which is impressive for a console, but nothing new to people on the PC scene. Xbox One X is going back to the roots of consoles being somewhat more on a higher power side. As the Xbox One and PS4 were severely outdated the moment they were announced. It is designed to allow for cheaper 4K gaming for the consumer market to use. It’ll come out on November 7th for $499.99, which is a fair price for what is in the box, any lower and they would be taking a lose. Now if you should buy it, do you have a 4K TV? Do you care if your games look and run better for a few hundred dollars more? It’s up to you, below I link the official Xbox website which contains even more information about the Xbox One X, educate yourself before purchasing. Until next time.

Need for Speed Strategy Guide Review

Guide

Interested in picking up EA’s Need for Speed reboot but aren’t exactly the best racer around? Prima Games have made it their mission to turn you into street kings and queens with the release of their official strategy guide.

The guide does a very job of covering everything the player needs to know about the game. Every feature and racing event –from drift train to time trial, is included and described in accurate detail. For those who are completely unfamiliar with racing 101, reading this guide will allow you to be able to tell your friends the difference between chicanes (A kind of turn) and double apexes, while also being able to perform them during races.

Drifting has become very popular over the years and the latest NFS game features many events that requires it. If you don’t have a proper understanding on how to drift and find yourself spinning out of control, or even wrecking your ride like I did (Don’t laugh!), then the guide’s coverage of it will help improve your drifting skills and performing it’ll become almost second nature as you race along the streets of Ventura Bay.

Need for Speed launched with 51 cars and every single one them can be customized extensively. Not only will you find each car listed in the guide but every and performance upgrade as well. Every cooling system, air filter and so forth are presented with clear pictures, information on their functions, how much they cost and how to unlock them. You can also tune the handling style of your cars in favor drift or grip and this guide will teach you how to find the right balance between the two so your vehicle can be more efficient on the road.

Unfortunately while the guide does mention visual customization for your rides, it doesn’t feature a list of the different parts you can unlock and when you can unlock them. So if you want to know what kind of spoilers or hoods are available for you Camaro, you’ll have to find out in-game.

Obviously the most important aspect of any racing game are the actual races and NFS features plenty of them — many of which can be very challenging the further you progress. Whether you are having difficulty winning races from the get-go, or you find yourself raging at the events towards the end of each story, the guide offers extremely helpful tips for each and every race, complete with quality screenshots and outlines for each route. You’ll know when exactly you should slow down, whether to drift or power slide at a particular turn.

For the fans of in-game collectibles, the NFS guide gives the reader accurate locations for every vista, donut spots (Not those kind of donuts) and free car parts in the game. Achievement/trophy hunter will be disappointed in the guide’s very basic coverage of the game’s trophies and cheevos, as it basically just lists what they are.

Final Verdict:

The Need for Speed guide is a great choice for those who are new to the series and those who are. Spend some quality time with the guide and you’ll be able to hold your own with the best of them, drifting and power sliding like a racing savant.
