Gran Turismo is a racing game exclusive to the PlayStation brand name and is critically acclaimed to being one of the greatest racing simulators of all time. It has been widely used amongst professional race car drivers and teams to train before being able to jump on the track in real life; they use Gran Turismo 5 to hone their driving skills and keep them sharp for when it’s time to hit the race. A comment from professional race car driver and instructor Tony Brakohiapa after being asked how Gran Turismo 5 stacks up compared to real life: “Really very close, I mean ultimately, again, you know real life is hard to mimic, but this is as close as you are going to get”.
Although Gran Turismo isn’t perfect, it has everything you need to mimic real driving physics. With many more cars than Forza 4, replicating all of the physics to each car, and with over 70 tracks, no wonder why real professional race car drivers prefer GT5 over Forza. The upcoming title Gran Turismo 6 has been in the works for a few years now. Though this is not a fact that it will indefinably be the best over-all well rounded driving simulator there is, judging by Polyphony Digital’s “track-record”, we can assume that it should be.
With supreme driving physics for all weather conditions including dirt, snow, drift, rain, and the recent inclusion of NASCAR, as of now GT5 has everything a racing fanatic could ask for. It’s only going to get better from here: more cars, more tracks, possibly better physics than it already has. And we’re hoping a new racing mode to 1-up their NASCAR inclusion, possibly an X Games rally jump race? I mean, what else is it really missing besides the Red Bull air race? GT6 should dominate the racing simulator genre from what we already know about GT5, and the developers track record and passion for making their game the best racing simulator ever known to mankind.

“Gran Turismo 6 Will be the Greatest Racing Simulator To Date”…
Yeah, but what date?
2455
Why not motorbikes ? Last time we had a good motorbike game was… can’t even remember. 16 guys at the same time along with some special tracks specially done for motos would be an excellent great addition. And why not cars vs motorbikes ?
Maybe a new movie mode, where you can place your cameras along the track, adjust their settings, colors, zoom, filters, etc, and replay it, and have a full custom video.
Why not bring paid for having some ads displayed during race? You hear it first here. For example, just before starting a race, you choose to view a 5-10-15 seconds advertising, from, for example, coca-cola, and every time you watch it(the new eye toy can track your eyes and know you really watched it), for example, if you watch them 20 times in one day, before 20 races, coca-cola will pay you 5cts, that you can use on the psn. I should submit the idea to sony
Like many years ago, when we earned cash or internet time, if we displayed a banner on the screen, they could use this type of ads, Sony would win, companies who advertise would win, and we, gamers, if we accept it, would earn some cash, or for example, new cars, items, tires, that could also be bought on the psn. Who likes the idea?
Still for gt6, I hope they will upgrade the grass texture. It was awful, on gt5. So ugly, they couldn’t have chosen a worse one.
Gt6 will be amazing, I’m sure cars will look even better and have better lights, reflections and polygons than the gt5 photo mode. Can’t wait.
You’re right there’s not many Motorcycle games at all. Aside from SBK and MotoGP I’m hard pressed to find any whenever I’m asked to recommend some.
The Gran Turismo creator did a motorbike game called Touring Tournament or something?
^^^^^^ I like your ideas
I would love to see a more varied collection of cars rather than the same car over and over in different versions.
For example GT5 had;
Honda S2000 ’99
Honda S2000 ’01
Honda S2000 ’03
Honda S2000 ’06
Honda S2000 LM Race Car
Honda S2000 Type V ’00
Honda S2000 Type V ’01
Honda S2000 Type V ’03
I mean seriously pick one, maybe two and the LM Race car that’s enough. Then there will be more space for other models from other manufacturers.
It won’t as it has already been surpassed by Forza and Project Cars.
Gran Turismo, just like Playstation, has become a running joke in the industry
Would you care to elaborate on that?
Sony is a joke there a big reason the industry sucks
That’s not really elaborating moreso just repeating what was said the first time. How about some informative facts to back up your opinion? I’m not saying anyone’s right or wrong here but if you want to make such bold claims you will have to back them up with something more than that or risk not being taken seriously.
Sony makes crap movies overated games that multiplayer dies within 2 weeks
Not trying to get be rude but what about EA, Activison there bigger reasons then them
Sony =deception, lies, overhype and underdeliver. The past gen has proven that, especially in the case of Gran Turismo. But they keep making the same mistakes in everything they do.
Exactly!!!!!
Forza 2 – 90 metacritic
Forza 3 – 92 metacritic
Forza 4 – 91 metacritic.
3 games in 5 years.
GT5 – 84 metacritic, took Polyphony Digital 5 years.
Yeah, I don’t think GT6 has earned the right to make unsubstantiated claims now that Turn 10 are their competition, and have smashed them this gen in terms of quality, GT5 didn’t even launch with cockpit views in each car, something F3 had from the start.
All cars in GT5 understeer like a car with front wheel drive.
This is a silly article. Feels like I’m reading an advertisement. The first racing game I ever played was Gran Turismo, and I spent a huge amount of time playing it and Gran Turismo 2, and then 3. I’ve played all the GT games, and while I loved the first few, I’ve been thoroughly unimpressed by the more recent iterations, especially considering how long they take to come out. I don’t race cars, so I can’t speak to how ‘realistic’ the physics are (especially considering the number of cars they would have to get statistics on) but it’s just not as FUN as Forza. Part of that comes down to the xbox controller, which is obviously not a fault of the game producers, but the end result is the same. Also, I much prefer the inclusion of Jeremy Clarkson voice overs to NASCAR. I’ll be more than willing to give GT6 a try, but unless it’s a big improvement, I just have no interest in spending money on it. Calling it “The Greatest Racing Simulator to Date” and not giving ANY facts about how it’s shaping up and only going off of the supposedly stellar “Track record” seems like jumping the gun quite a bit. At least this is an opinion piece, so I can forgive it a bit, but next time give us some facts from the new game to support your opinion, instead of just conjecture.
