Please don’t be another website that just combines the speeds of 2 different memories to determine “memory performance”.
Stuff will never transfer faster than the fastest memory.
We appreciated your feedback but we talk about so much more than that if that is what you think who are we to argue
Well so many websites have been like ….
DDR3 memory runs 68 GB/s
ESRAM memory runs at 102 GB/s
So the next Xbox memory will run 170 GB/s, which is not how it works.
102 GB/s is the fastest memory you have in your system that is as fast as data will travel to an from that memory.
Sure MS’s secret sauce in the Move Engines will certainly help, but it won’t create performance that isn’t there it will only optimize and keep pipelines full.
The PS4′s approach is much simpler and will likely be very easy for PC programmers to adopt to.
I really avoid podcasts and artciles like this because often I hear more disinformation than I hear information. I work with computers and help design systems.
I will have a listen though.
