Inside The Vault: Upcoming Fallout 76 Patches adding Bulldozer, Re-spec, Stash, and more

In a new series of articles to be released periodically by Bethesda Game Studios, it has been confirmed that Fallout 76 will be receiving an update on December 4, 2018 as well as December 11, 2018 providing a bevy of bug-fixes as well as new features to the game. Among the features included in the announcement are some we’ve heard about before (such as an increase to the game’s stash limit, push-to-talk voice chat on PC, etc.), as well as brand new features announced for the first time in this article.

Confirmed by Bethesda themselves, we now know that the stash limit increase will arrive on December 4, 2018 and will provide 200 extra pounds of storage in each player’s stash. This brings the total stash limit from 400 to 600. This limit will also increase again in the future if no negative impact on the game is found from the change. However, players expecting multiple thousands of pounds should reign in their hopes as the general design of the game is for squad co-operation rather than owning a copy of every item yourself. Characters are meant to be specialized and choose their favorite weapons while cycling through material and loot rather than holding on to it for a long term duration.

Which leads us into the next exciting feature being added to the game next month. On December 11, 2018 an update will allow players above level 50 to gain a new perk card OR move a point from one attribute of S.P.E.C.I.A.L. to another (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, Lucky). This is the first time that Bethesda will begin to allow the re-spec of characters who are designed in specialized manners, but may need re-tooling.

For certain, building bases in Fallout 76 has been an essential, yet sometimes frustrating experience. Two new announcements pertaining to December’s updates are very crucial to this component of the game. Now, when players log on to 76 they will be given the option of joining a server in which their C.A.M.P. must be moved or they can decide to search again for another one in which their C.A.M.P. does not have anything blocking it. As well as this, there is now a Bulldozer feature which allows players to remove trees, rocks, and other objects found in nature that cause problems with your C.A.M.P. and its immediate surrounding area. These features are part of December 11’s update.

Finally, there are concerns about how large an update will be from the game in the future. The November 19th (v1.02 – Part One) Update was larger than the size of the actual game on consoles, despite only seeming to add around 200MB of new data. Bethesda has released a statement at the end of their December patch notes letting players know that they have heard the feedback and are working hard to ensure future patches are not as large.
