The mobile version of Mortal Kombat X has been announced and given a new trailer detailing its hybrid approach on the fighting game genre. On the one hand, players are now able to access a free to play fighting experience from the world’s most brutal fighting game franchise. On the other hand, card battle mechanics have now been integrated.

Ed boon himself is touting this as a unique companion app that will link to the console versions of the game while still giving access to the fighter you know and love. There will also be special benefits from doing so. X-Ray attacks, Fatalities, Brutalities, and multiplayer team fights are all part of the offer.

Excerpt from the Official Press Release:

“Once launched, players who own the forthcoming console or PC versions of the game will be able to unlock content in the mobile game and vice versa by signing up for a WB Play account and completing tasks and achievements within each version.”
