[Update #2] Call of Duty: Ghosts and Destiny Servers Offline, Lizard Squad Claims Responsibility

Update #2: The group recently sent out a tweet claiming EA’s servers are now offline. Also I have been able to connect to Destiny’s servers, others as well, but not everyone.

Update: Bungie’s support twitter account has tweeted confirming that the servers for Destiny is down for a portion of its players. So not everyone is affected.

Original story as follows:

Lizard Squad, the group who claimed responsibility for Sony’s PSN outage over the summer are claiming that they are responsible for Destiny and Call of Duty: Ghosts’ server outage.

Three days ago the group’s twitter account sent out “prediction” that a lot of gamers would be angry this weekend.

Then less than 30 minutes ago they sent out this tweet, revealing their targets.

Then around the time Destiny’s servers went down (This I can confirm personally), they dropped another tweet.

It is a very frustrating situation for Destiny and Ghosts players to find themselves in, especially those playing Bungies sci-fi shooter. Unlike Call of Duty: Ghosts which can still be played offline solo, Destiny requires a constant internet connection to do so. Even of you like to play the game by yourself, you are out of luck. Further proof why forcing it on games with solo play is a bad idea.

Stay tuned to RGN for updates on the situation.
