Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith’s studios Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, released last week for PC and the current gen consoles. For the week of October 4th, 2014, the epic open world action title was best selling video game overall in the United States.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS holds the number 1 spot with an estimated 458,146 units sold and Shadow of Mordor for PS4 and Xbox One came in 2nd and 3rd place, with 272,768 and 186,286 respectively. While it ended up further down the chart at number 20, the PC version brought in an estimated 13,933. The combined sales bring the game to about 472,987 units sold, making it the highest selling game of that week overall.
Almost half a million in 4 days isn’t bad for the title, especially considering these are only estimated retail sales in the US. If anything the sales from other regions the game released in may have already pushed it over the 1 mil mark. Not to mention the last gen version will release in November. Only time will tell.
