I never had the pleasure (or displeasure) of playing Shaq Fu back in the day but apparently the general consensus is that it was pretty bad. Regardless of its history, retired NBA athlete Shaquille O’Neal has confirmed a sequel is in development. Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is live on the indiegogo wesite. The flexible funding project is looking for a $450,000 goal to make the game a reality on PC.
A Legend Reborn will be a beat-em-up style game starring the former basketball player. It will feature “hundreds of moves and battle techniques” and “dozens of cool melee weapons.” Online versus and cooperative modes will also be in the game. It is being developed by Big Deez Productions, a team of former AAA developers whose resumes include work on Street Fighter, Alan Wake, Halo and more.
The PC funding campaign will end on April 20th but features different stretch goals for other platforms. $650,000 will see a release on iOS and Android, $775,000 on Xbox 360 and PS3, $960,000 on Vita and 3DS, $1.08 million on Wii U and $1.62 million on Xbox One and PS4.
O’Neal promises that this time they won’t FU it up. Check out the ridiculously goofy teaser trailer below.
