In the United Kingdom PlayStation 4’s launch has had some desirable effects on Sony’s next-generation handheld gaming system the PlayStation Vita. The dual analog stick device has had its own struggle to gain attention ever since its initial release but is now being embraced more openly as sales have jumped nearly 70% beyond the norm. The surprisingly widespread support of Remote Play this time around (it was very lacking during PSP+PS3 and Vita+PS3 days) has definitely helped put a dent in this in addition to the overall satisfaction rate from current Vita owners spreading word of mouth as well as a new commercial advertising campaign and even a PS Vita + PS4 bundle being released overseas. It remains to be seen if this trend will keep up, but all signs point to Vita bouncing back from the dreaded Wii U situation (which may also bounce back). Time remains to tell the full story for this handheld device.
