The headline pretty much says it all, Dark Souls II developer From Software has revealed to the world that Dark Souls II DLC is not planned and will not be considered for extending the life span of the title which hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 March 11, 2014 as well as the Windows PC platform at a future date yet-to-be revealed but currently expected in Late March. The server for the multiplayer / online capabilities of the game will be kept open as long as possible – but how long exactly remains to be seen as we saw Demon Souls being prepped for shut down in a short amount of time after the game’s release.
This could be due to the fact that these games can function completely offline with no mandatory need for online to play the title. Yui Tanimura of From Software also commented that PlayStation 4 and Xbox ONE ports of the game do not exist and are not being planned nor discussed at all. In the development firm’s eyes, the game is not a good fit for next-gen at this time and providing a port would simply delay getting Dark Souls II out to fans. Dark Souls II is now available for pre-order on 360 and PS3 through various retailers online and in-store.
