PS4 Yellow Light = Standby Mode (Auto Updating)

PS4 Yellow Light

Don’t be alarmed if you shut your PlayStation 4 off only to find that it’s now got a yellow light on it. This simply means that it’s currently downloading updates for your games without taking the full power of being turned all the way on.

If you walk away from your console for a given amount of time then it may enter this mode depending on your Power Settings which can be changed through the PlayStation 4’s user interface. You can also enter Standby Mode by your own free will by holding down the PlayStation Button and accessing the shutdown menu from the PS4’s UI. During the Standby Mode any necessary automatic updates will be downloaded.

There’s nothing wrong with your console, but if you need to unplug it to change which room it’s in – boot it up and Power Off completely first through the UI!
