Ellen Page has more to do with the PlayStation 3 exclusive Beyond: Two Souls than simply being chosen to lead up the main character role in the game. Quantic Dream’s David Cage revealed in a recent interview with the press that he was actually inspired by a picture of her online. He was searching for images to help him visualize his character’s struggle and was also becoming obsessed with the idea of what lies after one exits the world of the living. He had recently attended a close friend’s funeral and then began to brainstorm his next game, when the following happened:
“I started writing the first scene of Beyond: Two Souls, and I asked myself, ‘Who is my main character?’ I thought she should have this strength inside her. She’s courageous, and she’s brave. But at the same time she is just a little girl.”
“So I started looking for images and I found a picture of Ellen that was exactly this.”
“I began to realize that might be a problem,” Cage said. “because I realized I was going to have to ask Ellen to be in the game.”
