The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Dev Diary

xcom2K Marin’s The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, lead narrative designer Erik Caponi explains the apeal of mixing the XCOM universe with the 1960’s setting and environment in the dev diary below.

Excerpt from press “The story through any game is going to change throughout the process of making it,” Caponi says in the video. “From 2010 to 2013, it [The Bureau‘s story] was kind … knocked down to the ground and built back up at a structural level several times, but what has stayed the same is largely the characters. Carter has always been part of the story, he’s always been our main character, because it’s a very personal story. We’re telling the story of Carter’s emotional arc throughout this invasion—getting into his head and seeing how he reacts to the events going on around him.”

XCOM comes out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on August 20 in North America and August 23 in Eurupe. Watch the video below.
