Reports are coming in that Microsoft and Sony’s next-generation systems may be selling out already. The claims are that pre-orders for the systems will soon reach 100% of the amount of systems currently manufactured. While it is possible that more consoles can be manufactured to satisfy demand before the Holiday 2013 launch both consoles face, it is also possible that Sony and MS could fail to meet the demand of a consumer-base that has waited an unprecedented amount of time for this new generation cycle.
As far as brick and mortar stores Gamestop is taking pre-0rders for $100 in person while Best Buy is taking them for $50 but has been known to sell their consoles to whoever walks in the door which therefore “screws over” the pre-order customers in past console debuts (buyer beware). If you really can’t handle not having the systems day one, you may want to contact your favorite retailers and find out what your options are.
Of course, there is always the chance that these reports are being taken out of context and meant to incite hype and panic that will lead to the rumor eventually becoming true via itself.
