Gran Turismo 6 was formally announced today at the 15th anniversary event held for Gran Turismo by developer Polyphony Digital. Gran Turismo 6 will feature 1200 cars, on-going DLC, latest reading cars, over 70 track layouts, histories, and players can create their own personalized cars. Gran Turismo 6 will arrive on PlayStation 3 this June of 2013 and will also reboot the GT Academy with GT Academy 2013 starting upon the release of the GT6 demo.
Polyphony Digital also announced that they are considering a PlayStation 4 version of the title. Polyphony Digital also announced that Gran Turismo is the most successful PlayStation franchise of all time amassing over 70 million total sales to date.
