EA has finally decied to abandon the idiotic online pass. EA’s senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg stated the discontinuation of the program in an e-mail to VentureBeat. Reseburg said EA launched the online pass program, “As an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn’t respond to the format. We’ve listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.”
Now Ubisoft stands up in the online pass head market, along with CAPCOM. Not all their games have it, but they started after EA. EA Games finally does something right after SimCity, Mass Effect 3’s ending, and Battlefield 3, MOH : Warfighter, and many other mistakes. But EA is now looked at in a different light by myself thanks to this move away from digital tyranny such as the Online Pass.
