The new SimCity, which was released to much controversy earlier this year on Windows PC due to the use of the always-online DRM, will be making its way to the Apple Mac OS X operating system where it can finally be played by MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Desktop owners worldwide.
The release date for the Mac version of SimCity has been announced today by EA Games and Maxis who make the game. SimCity will release on Mac June 11, 2013 and buyers who purchase the game will only need to buy it once in order to own both Windows and Mac copies of the game according to Lucy Bradshaw who is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Maxis Label.
SimCity on the Mac will also allow gamers who purchase the title on either system to play together. Cross-platform gameplay will be achieved as the SimCity title will place players from Windows and Mac on the same servers allowing them to play with their friends who may be on a different computer operating system. The following trailer welcomes players back to the world of SimCity.
