Deep Silver Officially Removes YAGER from Dead Island 2 Development

Dead Island 2

In a short public announcement earlier this week it was revealed that in addition to YAGER being pulled from development on the forthcoming Dead Island 2, the entire game’s style might be taking an upgrade or change. While the title was originally said to feature tons of zombies with rapid shooting and heavily upgraded weapons, this style seemed to have a resounding lack of the horror elements seen in previous Dead Island games according to hands-on footage and interviews, as well as some of the more refined gameplay details as their competing franchises.

Early impressions of Dead Island 2 were, of course based on small sliced up samples only, but the public’s reaction still could have had an influence on this decision. At the end of the day, a great idea seems to be just beneath the surface and Deep Silver appears to feel that another development team is better suited for bringing that idea to life. That’s our take on things, but Check out the official quote for yourselves below.

Quote from Deep Silver:

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER.

We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

Editor’s Note: Thankfully they still have other projects and aren’t out of work.
