Highlights of USA / CANADA PlayStation Mid-2018 Sale (Up to 75% Off)

If you’ve got a full wallet and an empty external hard drive with massive storage space, this is an amazing time. The USA and Canada PlayStation Network Stores have been blasted with the largest PSN Sale seen in years following the big E3 2018 gaming event which saw Bethesda and Xbox take the crown in worldwide polls against good-not-great showings from PlayStation and Nintendo. The sale ends July 17, 2018 so definitely start browsing the store now. We have highlighted some of our picks as well as runner ups for convenience.

Among the titles listed for sale are many older games from various times across the lifespan of the PlayStation platforms including the PSOne version of Resident Evil 2 which was revealed to have a remake in the works during Sony’s show and is among many people’s top 3 games of E3, or in some cases the most anticipated game shown. PSN titles that function on PS4 also bring back Red Faction II and the original, and are on sale right in time for last week’s Red Faction Guerrilla Re-mars-tered (our review coming soon).

There’s also some epic unsung heroes such as the October 2016 PS4 release of 50’s action-adventure title Destroy All Humans! from THQ Nordic which certainly offered some new and engaging gameplay for its time when it first debuted on PlayStation 2 in 2005. Take a look at some of our favorites here, and be sure to head over to the PSN Store for yourself as the vast amount of games on sale is sure to hide many previous gems ripe for first time discovery or affordably re-living all over again!

After Bethesda and Xbox E3 shows received A ratings from thousands of viewers, PlayStation and Nintendo have slipped into the B rating. A Rating Given by Viewers of Bethesda Press Conference

The Elder Scrolls VI, Starfield, Fallout 76, and RAGE 2 were just a few of the announcements that Bethesda had up their sleeve for this year’s E3. Even if two of those four simply involved a name and a logo, we now know that Starfield is real and that Bethesda is hard at work figuring out how to make TES VI a true evolution over their previous games. All existing projects are receiving upgrades of varying degrees. There’s even going to be a full-fledged mobile RPG from Bethesda soon as well, The Elder Scrolls Blades. This group of announcements seems to have made E3 viewers very pleased.

D Rating Given by Viewers of EA Games Press Conference

In a vote among nearly 10,000 gamers the EA Games Press Conference of E3 2018 was voted a D ranking. Geoff Keighley is the journalist / producer who created The Game Awards and host of the E3 Coliseum, and created the poll himself on Twitter just moments after the show. At the time of this posting the poll has received 9,699 votes with 22 hours and 17 minutes left. But the clear reaction 1 hour after EA took stage is clear.

RealGamerNewZ 6.0 Update

A little introduction as to who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going. Lately the RGN team has been regrouping behind-the-scenes and prepping for this year’s big E3 2018 event taking place in Los Angeles wherein Microsoft is expected to announce a ton of Xbox news to revitalize the brand while Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro and PSVR platforms continue to grow and Nintendo keeps the flames lit with its new smash hit hybrid device the Nintendo Switch.

That being said, we are reaching a lot of new viewers who might not know what RGN is like and what types of content we’ve been creating since our inception.

  • In 2010 a group of former games journalists sick of the censorship and relationship politics of coverage in video games news media created a floating podcast across now defunct platforms including Blip TV, Examiner, and multiple HipHopGamer websites which are now sadly unavailable.
  • In 2011 we formed our own website for RealGamerNewZ and although we’ve enjoyed millions of pageviews across over eight thousand articles we are best known for being an outspoken and essentially underground gaming news, reviews, interviews, and opinions source.

Despite being often outspoken and delivering the unpopular opinions of the hardcore gamers who are often scared to speak their mind in today’s environment, we’ve also been endorsed and supported by sponsors such as Rockstar Games, SteelSeries, Microsoft, Devolver Digital, Bethesda Game Studios, Mastertronic, Activision Blizzard, Focus Home Interactive, Surprise Attack Games, Curve Digital, Ubisoft, Headup Games, Deep Silver, Paradox Interactive, Square Enix, Team 17, Koei Temo, Nkidu, Telltale Games, tinyBuild Games, NIS America, and a lot more!

So what’s next for RGN? We still work with great companies to this day, and we are planning to increase our ability to help shine light on lesser known indie games while offering Market Research on the deeper topics occurring industry-wide and of course providing our opinions alongside news coverage for AA games, AAA games, and everything in between.

Ubisoft Showcases Far Cry 5 Map Editor to Expert Community Members

The Map Editor for upcoming Montana-based Far Cry 5 has been shown off by Ubisoft to some expert members of their community and fanbase who gave their first impressions after being flown out this December for an exclusive hands on experience. Some high quality (albeit brief) footage has also been released of this event in which Community Developer Laureline thanks the active Far Cry community and the actual Far Cry 5 Map Editor can be seen in action as well.

Kemet1976 states that its the most advanced editor he’s seen yet, and that the experience has blown him away. Setho-1 is also a well known map creator in the Far Cry community and states that the amount of customization that can be done now with maps is massively improved. Restylex says “there’s no limitation for me at this moment when I look at the Far Cry 5 Map Editor”. And akilyoung who has been a community figure since 2012 describes the application as not being stripped of anything, but instead feels like things were added in above and beyond expectations.

In addition to getting the first look at this Map Editor for Far Cry 5, it appears that Ubisoft’s Far Cry team has even been open to ideas from these esteemed, most active members of their map making community. That’s always a good thing, but sometimes it’s just words. In this case, we have HorTyS (Far Cry Community Member since 2003) his word that the team is listening to feedback actively and attentively on how to make the program as powerful as possible. And since he himself is from Montana, there was a lot of potential feedback to be given. One of the map ideas HorTyS is considering includes a re-creation of his home town in Montana, a testament to how powerful this Editor truly is.

Why #Meltdown and #Spectre Vulnerabilities Effect Gamers Worldwide, Especially VR Gamers

It’s Real Dude, This Is Happening

Apparently all computers are at risk to new vulnerabilities leaving everything on your computer at risk to effortless hacking via Meltdown and Spectre which were discovered this week. The patches and updates being put out to solve these issues will reduce performance of computers anywhere between 30-400%!!! .

You might be sitting right now comfortably in your DXRacer chair with your Vive, PS4 Pro, 4KTV, and self-righteous positive attitude thinking ‘this stinks, but doesn’t effect me’. You’re wrong. Your hardware is in danger. If you think ‘I just won’t run the update’ then think again. All of your accounts and passwords to every program and all your data ‘kinda’ matter when you can’t use your Steam and someone steals your payment info.

Identity theft isn’t easily reset bro. That’s why there’s a whole industry for preventing it and insurances for court when you get plucked by the man in a mask overseas just racking up charges on ingame currency with your profile. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for how this effects gamers. Think you’re not effected? You’re wrong. Continue reading to find out how these security issues will inevitably hurt the video games industry.

By the way, There’s no avoiding this. All major tech giants have been working in secret to try to solve these issue for 90 days and still haven’t rolled out any updates and have been trying to keep the vulnerabilities a secret from everyone including the coders working on it.

Conclusion:

I’m saying this flaw effects everyone and those who can take advantage of it will spread it like a virus and use it against people. On top of that, the update is going as far as Linux machines so that means Windows and Apple will also update their software and guess what? Now we have performance drops in games and some not playable on lower-end hardware and now tech industries will make more money selling GPUs we wouldn’t have needed yet.

The performance hit also effects VR but the industry is so small it might not be able to recover from the blow and boom now we’re back to being spoonfed shit games because everyone refuses innovation. TLDR; Long story short, you’re looking at a major shift of industry trying to be played off like water running off a duck’s back when in reality it’s more like lava.

WTF Wednesdays: “NAZI is not a valid word” – ??? – Words With Friends 2

Video game companies all over the world are subject to government regulations against free speech – some for good reason, others just for an unidentified purpose. While playing the mobile title Words With Friends 2 Online the other day it was discovered that “NAZI is not a valid word” according to the title which has players putting words like “Hod” or “Hi” and “Ta” in order to stack up points with words they really didn’t even know before playing the game.

On top of the title being a simple exercise in trial and error rather than actually testing the vocabulary of its players, now real words are not valid entries simply due to their controversial role in reality.

For this week’s WTF Wednesday stop and take a look at the country you live in, and name 3 games that have censored their content. In Germany, many students are not even taught about the existence of Adolf Hitler and the NAZI era of World War 2. Some say this is to prevent a low self-esteem issue while others claim it is to prevent repeating the past. In any event, most countries will not allow the Nazi Swastika symbol to appear in their video games despite the historical accuracy demanding such.
