The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch release date possibly leaked by Amazon

Link-In-Skyrim-

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may have had it’s release date leaked via Amazon. The release date listed by the giant that is Amazon. Is November 28th of this year, which makes sense, after the big Super Mario Odyssey, and right before Xenoblade Chronicles 2. What do you think? Does this release date sound likely to you?

What Bethesda’s Creation Club means

creation_club.0

As we all know by now, at E3 Bethesda announced their new system Creation Club. Which provides new paid content for Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. Or how Bethesda put’s it from their own Creation Club page “Creation Club is a collection of all-new content for both Fallout 4 and Skyrim. It features new items, abilities, and gameplay created by Bethesda Games Studios and outside development partners including the best community creators. Creation Club content is fully curated and compatible with the main game and official add-ons.”

The way I see this is more of a lie. They are claiming these are more like DLC or Expansions, but they are having modders release this content. They are selling people mods. Now I don’t see the biggest issue with it, aside from them lying about it. As long as the mods are up to par with “DLC quality content.” From the launch lineup I would not say it is quality or worth your hard earned cash. As it is mainly weapons and apparel you can just download for free elsewhere. The content the Creation Club can provide is “Weapons, Apparel, World, Characters, Creatures, and Gameplay.”

Weapons, Apparel, Creatures, and Characters speak for themselves. But World is more akin to locations, like new maps, some added foliage, so maybe some texture updates, and even simple decorations. Gameplay is explained as “New types of gameplay like survival mode, etc.” So maybe some actual new additions, Fallout Kart Racing?

Now the content that should be produced, should be something like expansions, think the Dragonborn Expansion, which adds a new location, new storyline, new weapons, outfits, gameplay features, etc. That is what Bethesda should offer, instead of a new gun or sword by themselves for $1.99. As of now we can’t say how it will turn out, but if they are going to do this, and the content creators are going to get paid to produce high quality content, then we as consumers need to hold them to an example of producing good “DLC” (Mods).

I am all for this if it is genuine content that continues the life of games people love like Fallout 4 and Skyrim. But this could set a awful precedent in the industry if mishandled like Bethesda’s previous attempt at paid mods. One of the biggest things was they were not curated mods, this time they are, or least should be, since the modders/content creators will be paid and employees after they apply for the Creation Club, and are accepted. Let’s just hope they can manage this, and their store won’t be filled with paid horse armor that’s purely cosmetic.

Bethesda after showing off Fallout 4 VR and DOOM VFR the other day, now has Skyrim VR on the PSVR to launch. It seems to be the entire game like Fallout 4 VR so hopefully this is our first big step into making VR mainstream.

The Elder Scrolls Online still features a Subscription Model

29912_screen_the_elder_scrolls_online_tamriel_unlimited_7

Many Elder Scrolls fans on consoles were delighted to hear that Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited would be dropping the MMO subscription model. This means that they don’t have to pay a monthly fee — on top of already paying full price for the game, in order to keep playing. While it doesn’t seem to be an issue with many PC gamers, PlayStation and Xbox owners have to subscribe to PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold if they want to play most game’s online, so their excitement over the matter is understandable.

It turns of the game still has a subscription model after all, at least where its DLC is concerned. Elder Scrolls Online features a service called ESO Plus, which functions similarly to Sony’s PlayStation Plus.

“ESO Plus is our premium membership service. Sign up now to receive in-game benefits that let you get the most out of your journeys in Tamriel. Members receive increased experience, faster crafting progression, and bonus gold along with access to all available DLC Game Packs and a monthly allotment of 1500 Crowns (total membership amount of crowns given at time of purchase) to spend in the in-game store on pets, mounts, costumes, and much more. ESO Plus is the best way to see everything ESO has to offer! Please note that access to DLC Game Packs granted by ESO Plus is only available while your membership remains active.”

That last sentence is a real kicker. Unlike Season Passes which ask for a one time payment in order to access downloadable content for a discounted price, ESO Plus requires players to pay $15 every month, otherwise they won’t be able to play whatever DLC they own. Also there doesn’t seem to be any indication of any DLC being released separately, meaning the Plus service will be your only means of acquiring on extra content.

Keep in mind it is optional and there is still the base game, which can be played without having to subscribe. Still, I can’t imagine this will sit well with many of the fans.

How do you feel about DLC being locked behind a subscription fee? Will you skip Elder Scrolls Online’s bonus content, or will you avoid the game completely? Sound off.

Steam Workshop Mods Can Now Charge Money & Why It’s A Good Thing

Steam Workshop Paid Skyrim Mods DLC Charge - RealGamerNewz

Fresh off the heels of requiring anybody with a Steam account to have spent at least $5 to use features like adding friends or sending private messages (in an effort to curve the massive amount of spambots and hackbots populating Steam these days), Valve has announced that Steam Workshop will now allow mod developers to charge money for mods. This access has begun today with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim allowing mod developers with already existing mods to add a price tag, and anyone who developers mods for the game down the road to charge what they see fit as well. There have been some intense reactions to this move by Valve and I’m here to express my opinions on the situation. As always, these opinions may or may not reflect those of the rest of RealGamerNewz staff but I have spoken to them all about the issue before writing this piece as to get feedback from all points of view.

A bunch of mods that have been available for free for several years now being unsubscribed from player’s Steam accounts will surely feel wrong to many when it happens today. While I understand the abruptness of this may not be an ideal way to transition in the service, I do believe that giving mod developers the ability to charge for mods in Steam is a good thing and morally correct. Many of the mods are charging as low as 25 cents and some have chosen to remain free. It is at the mod developer’s discretion whether or not to charge for mods and how much that cost should be per item.

Don’t mod devs deserve to get paid? For years the mod development community has been pouring their hearts and souls into their work and sometimes even achieving better results than AAA developers themselves. Bethesda has shown a large amount of maturity by allowing this move to happen with one of their games first and are paving the way for a much more fair mod scene. Remember, if you believe mods should be free and you create a mod you are free to not tack a fee onto it or even release it on Nexus Mod Manager instead of Steam Workshop if you feel so compelled. This is not being forced on anyone and isn’t the end of free mod culture, it’s simply a choice. In my opinion it’s a shame that we haven’t been paying mod developers sooner. After all, this isn’t slave labor and hard work that provides endless hours of entertainment deserves to be rewarded.

Just as indie developers have often come up with very innovative and creative ideas that were for the betterment of games in general, mod developers have often also had this effect. I look forward to seeing what they come up with given this new motivation of monetary success and will be sure to support only the good ones as a discerning consumer. RealGamerNewz will likely begin to Review mods in the coming future to help gamers know what exactly each one provides and evaluate the value proposition of them. Until then, Happy hunting!

Here’s a direct quote from Valve’s Official Press Release: “Mods on the Skyrim Workshop have received more than 170 million downloads to date. The thousands of free mods, items, weapons, and quests will continue to be available at the discretion of the players who made them.”

[Update: 75% of the revenue goes to Valve, mod creators decide the price of the mod, and there are 24 hour refunds allowed for mods – however, if mods break after that 24 hour period or are broken due to a developer patch there is currently no action a consumer can take other than waiting for the mod creator to fix it which may or may not be possible depending on the situation.]

[Update #2: Steam Paid Mods System Already Being Abused by Stolen Mod Sales & The Bigger Point Of All This.]

[Update #3: 45% of the 75% Valve takes for Skyrim mods will be given to Bethesda. This % may vary from game to game depending on Valve’s negotiations.]

[Update #4: Refunds will go to the Steam Wallet and can only be re-spent in Steam.]

[Update #5: Before mods can charge money, they first have to be free and given time for an approval process to take place meant to weed out scammers.]

More info about the paid content in Steam Workshop can be found in Valve’s Blog about the topic.

Elder Scrolls Online Gets New Trailer, Will Be Free to Play on PS4 / Xbox ONE

RealGamerNewz - MMORPG Elder Scrolls Online - Xbox One - PlayStation 4

For those who don’t know, Elder Scrolls Online from Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda Softworks will be completely free to play when it releases for the Xbox ONE and PlayStation 4 systems on June 9, 2015 although you’ll still have to buy the game itself to gain access. The MMORPG title currently available for Windows PC and Mac OS X computer platforms has received mixed reviews and feedback from the gaming community / press with some claiming it’s everything they ever wanted in an Elder Scrolls multiplayer adaption despite leaving some things to be desired in the opinions of others who are less impressed. This summer, for the first time, console-only gamers will get to find out what they feel about the MMORPG version for one of the industry’s favorite Western Action RPG franchises. Take a look at the latest trailer below which launched yesterday showcasing the game’s world, dungeons, daily challenges, customization systems, animations, many content updates, and more.

Bethesda’s First E3 Press Event

bethesda_logo

Bethesda confirmed on June 14th they will be holding their first ever press conference for the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the “Super bowl” of video game industry trade events. The Press Conference will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center this year at E3 2015 and further information about where around the Convention Center it will be is expected to be revealed as E3 approaches. Along with Bethesda’s new Press Conference comes the annual block of Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Sony Press Conference’s on June 15th 2015 and Nintendo the following day.

Bethesda have yet to give any more information on what to expect at the Press Conference but there is heavy rumor and speculation that Bethesda will announce Fallout 4 the fourth instalment in Bethesda’s critically acclaimed Fallout franchise. Plenty of possibilities are Dishonored which came out in 2012 and a sequel has been in high demand. Further information regarding the new Doom as yet to be released, as for Wolfenstein The New Order and The Evil Within both games were released last year and probably do not merit for sequels. My opinion is that Bethesda will announce Fallout 4 since Bethesda’s last big Role Playing Game (RPG) was The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim which was four years ago so they had to be working on something these past four years.

USA Pre-Order Chart; Call of Duty Still on Top, Elder Scrolls Online Drops

theelderscrollsonline

For the week of September 27, 2014, the X1 version of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare continues to sit atop the pre-order chart in the US. With an almost 6,000 increase since the previous week, the upcoming first-person shooter is estimated at 152, 377. While it saw a small increase of only 631 pre-orders, The Order: 1886 held onto its #2 spot with 140,95.

The top 10 remained largely unchanged, with only the PS4 version of Advanced Warfare and the X1 version of The Elder Scrolls Online trading places. An increase of 4,609 resulted in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for the PlayStation 4 taking the number 6 spot (92,307) and EOS dropping to number 7 (89,642) with a miniscule increase of only 176 pre-orders. The fact that a new release date still hasn’t been revealed for the console versions — as well as any new info about the game in general, could be the reason for such little change. It’s safe to say it will continue to drop in the coming weeks.

You can view the full top 40 chart below which welcomes a few new games to the list including the PS4 version of WWE 2K15. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V for PS4 and Xbox One has yet to debut in the top 40, despite being one month away from its November release date.

Note* These estimates are for physical pre-orders and do not include digital.
