If you own a copy of the digital version for Marvel VS Capcom 3 or other MvC games you’d better log in and download them now because Capcom, Sony, Microsoft, and Marvel will working together to remove all of the titles as Capcom and Marvel’s license deal likely has ran out in addition to the fact that bandwidth on these services is NOT FREE.  There’s really nothing further to say about this situation other than download now before it’s too late.

Originally posted on djkillzownjones.com

Namco Bandai keeps the Tekken rolling with their new Pachinko/Interactive fighting game entitled CR Tekken. This game lets you play through Tekken battles by launching your Pachinko balls through the set-up and then lets you dish out blows to send the balls to the slots and score more points. This machine will be debuting in Japan Arcades this November and with no word yet on an international release. Hopefully Namco Bandai will bring it to the states via places like Dave And Busters. Check out the trailer below, comment with your thoughts and share.

Charlie Murder Review

charlie_murder_logo

Charlie Murder is an interesting title right away from first glance. It’s basically a heavy metal band experience. The catch is your band has to fight demonic beings such as zombies and even demons themselves using the power of hardcore metal. If you’re still wondering what I’m talking about then go ahead and turn on a nice track of ‘screamo’ while you take a read in our full Review brought to you by RealGamerNewz and Tristan’s Twisted World.

Soundtrack, Audio, Voice: Of course our heroes’ (I guess that’s what you call them) soundtrack consists of Heavy Metal since they are a Heavy Metal band. The good thing is it fits in very well and helps the combat flow if you ask me. This ‘Perfecto’ blend of the audio in this title as nothing overpowers anything else, unless you change the settings. The grunts of zombies and other enemies make it feel like the cut out art-style that it is drawn in. All together the soundtrack and audio definitely help complete the experience of Charlie Murder.

Graphics, Physics, Glitches, Engine Performance:  The art-style feels very vibrant and dark which is fitting for the setting. Physics are what you would expect out of a beat-em-up title, this is a lot like what we’ve played in arcades. The game is very well polished, it seems as if the developers SKA Studios went through it more than a few times to make it the best possible experience they could. The game’s engine runs like a champ, SKA Studios seems to have the overall feel of the game under control. There were no glitches experienced during our play-through of the game.

Controls / Gameplay / CO-OP: Charlie Murder is incredibly simple and easy to learn. The controls are a standard ‘X for hit’ type of ordeal. Like I said it is a beat-em-up so the gameplay is thankfully not very hard to understand, at times it can be a challenge for some players though. This is especially true when a giant horde of enemies is surrounding you but that is why you have the ability for CO-OP and special attacks. While some enemies may even be a challenge for something like that, you can still build up your skill. You can even throw down on a drum solo or play around on your Windows 8 Phone, which is really fun and cool.

Story: The story begins with the players going to hell and having to fight demons but everyone is then quickly brought back alive by paramedics. After that point it seems you have to fight through hours of demonic hordes featuring fan favorites like the un-dead zombies. There are even parts were you get to drive vehicles and various other things. Charlie Murder is all about fighting robots, demons, zombies and whatever the story throws at you with your band fighting in the un-dead apocalypse (with guns of course).

Replay Ability: Moderately High

Final Verdict: Charlie Murder tries to bring the fun back in classic beat em up genre from the arcade days. Which I am glad to say it does and is enjoyable to see it do so. I give Charlie Murder a 9 out of 10 making it an RGN Gold Game.

BattleBlock Theater Review

battleblock theater

Foreword: Before I get into the review, let me say that we will also have a special Co-Op Review coming soon that especially covers the multiplayer aspects of the BattleBlock Theater experience on Xbox 360.

BattleBlock Theater was developed at The Behemoth by the creators of Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid.  It has been in development for the past 3 years and was just recently released on April 3rd. If you want to buy this game, it will cost you just 1200 MSP or 15 USD on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

First, let’s get into the story. When you first play the game, there is about 5-10 minutes of some background story. You are on a ship with many others when you crash onto an island. There you’re taken prisoner by evil cats. The cats force you to work these obstacle courses for their own entertainment. Your job is essentially to escape, which you can only do by completing all the levels. I know the story may sound cheesy, but you don’t really need to pay attention to the story, as there is not much of a story. This game is more of an action/puzzle game, not a story game. It is fun to keep up with the story as you might start to care about the other prisoners, and want to escape. Fun Factor and Gameplay are the focus of BattleBlock Theater. Overall the story is just, silly. It’s childish but still fun and enjoyable.

The gameplay is unique and very interesting. The main part of the game is jumping through each obstacle course, or levels. There are 10 levels in a chapter, and 8 chapters in the game. But the 10th level of each chapter is sort of like a boss level. It’s significantly harder than the others and is timed. Every 3 levels the game auto saves and brings you back to the main menu, where you can visit the gift shop and unlock more prisoners and weapons or just continue playing. Each chapter gets slightly more difficult so early on in the game is easy, but later on it gets harder noting a decent pace like most games should.

BattleBlock Theater Review

Trying to play this game for the first time, might be difficult for some people as the tutorial sucks. It only teaches basica moves like how to jump and punch, so you pretty much have to learn everything by yourself. Don’t get me wrong the game is easy to play and learn, but if you’re a slow learner you might have trouble enjoying this game.

The objective of the game is to navigate through each level and collect at least 3 gems to unlock the exit. There easy to find and easy to get. You have to get at least 3, but some levels have up to 10. Also in each level is a ball of yarn. You want to collect these as you can trade them in for weapons  at the gift shop. You use gems to buy prisoners and yarn balls to buy weapons. You don’t have to buy any prisoners the entire game but it’s just fun to collect them. On the other hand you will need to buy weapons.

To progress through the game you will need them because the enemies become to strong to just punch. The enemies very through out the game. Usually you will come across straight up cats that will attack you, and the only way to kill them is drown them or shock them. But some enemies get more difficult to kill, and they start to get weapons. It is almost impossible to kill them without weapons.

BattleBlock Theater Review 2

This game has great replay availability. There are two difficulties normal and hard mode, and there are achievements to beat missions on hard mode so you can replay the game if you are a achievement hunter. Even if you don’t care about the achievements you still will want to just hop on the game every once in a while and play a couple of levels. The game is just fun like that.

Final Verdict: Overall, I highly recommend this game to anybody of all ages. The game is simply enjoyable. It’s how a games should be. Considering how much fun will you have with this game, 15 bucks is a great deal. Some games will run you 60 and only give you 8 hours of gameplay. I easily already have 15 in this game and plan to play more. RealGamerNewz awards this game a solid 9.5 out of 10 and rates it as a Platinum Game in the RGN Ratings system. You can’t go wrong with BattleBlock Theater. The only reason that I didn’t give this game a perfect score is because it is really meant to be played in co-op, and some people just don’t have any friends to play it with. This game is absolutely flawless. No glitches, no ‘BS’, no problems, just all fun.

My Take On Digital Games [RGN User Blog]

It’s a new format. But with new formats comes with a sense of unfamiliarity, even fear. People are tactile by nature so having things in our hands gives us a sense of comfort. Which is why physical software games are still around despite digital having being readily available at your fingertips for some time. However this sense of intangibility with our games still makes people hesitant, which is why credit should be given to companies like Sony for making console games free with a subscription to Playstation Plus.

Sure, other services provide provide similar incentives but not to the extent Sony has done. By making popular games like Demon’s Souls and DarkSiders free, they’re actually demonstrating the convenience and ease of access of the digital format. It’s also a great choice for  console owners who can’t always purchase the latest game in stores, so 50 dollars a *year* for new, free games a month is a no-brainer. this has been proven by the PC community that Digital access to games is the way of the future.

But just not yet, as long as there is a demand for retail releases of games, and having options is never a bad thing, so why rush it?
