EA’s upcoming Star Wars shooter, Star Wars Battlefront II had it’s trailer leaked early. Clearly this is more of a TV spot or early reveal trailer that was leaked. It’s still exciting to see that they took the criticism towards the first game and have seemingly gave us what we wanted.

Day one of the Star Wars Celebration opened with the new Star Wars Force Awakens teaser trailer and day two opens with the long anticipated show trailer of Star Wars Battlefront. Though no real gameplay was shown the reveal trailer is made up of the in-game engine teased. Things that were talked about during the Star Wars Celebration included a DICE panel on the Battle of Jakku, a free DLC to all who buy Star Wars Battlefront set to come out December 8, 2015. Those who pre-order will also apparently get a full week of early access to that content starting December 1, 2015.
The actual game itself releases November 17, 2015 for PC / PS4 / Xbox ONE but will be available early for Xbox ONE users who participate in the “EA Access” subscription service. So far we know that the base game takes place on Sullust, Endor, Hoth, as well as Tatooine with playable characters including the iconic Darth Vader and Boba Fett.
Also talked about during the panel was the confirmation of switching from first person to third person perspectives in game like in previous Battlefront installments. The revelation that the game will not have a single player story / campaign but instead missions for co-op / online / solo play similar to the original title. Some are upset about this although it does follow the traditions of the first Battlefront game. There will be no space battle however, and that is a real shame since the cancelled version LucasArts had developed seemed to be promising in terms of aerial gameplay. We hope that this June at E3 2015 we may have more to see and talk of in regard to Star Wars Battlefront’s engine and gameplay, but for now details are a bit sparse.

The Microsoft Store has listed Star Wars: Battlefront on Xbox ONE by publisher EA Games being developed for the Frostbite 3 engine with a tentative release date of December 31, 2013 (more than likely just a placeholder date until the real one is announced). The following description was also listed alongside a blank box art containing no image:
“Relive and participate in all of the classic Star Wars battles like never before. Play as one of a number of different soldier types, jump into any vehicle, man any turret on the battlefront, and conquer the galaxy, planet by planet.”

EA Games has reportedly decided that instead of just dropping a new Battlefield every so often to compete with the yearly Call of Duty release schedule they will use their Titanfall and Battlefront IPs in order to create a rotation cycle. This is meant to prevent gamers from becoming sick of buying the same IP over and over again, and to keep the Frostbite releases fresh (Titanfall is on a modified source engine currently). Battlefield will get a new title, Titanfall, and then Battlefront. This could change going forward, however EA Games plans on beginning this with Battlefield 4 so you should be thankful that they are trying not to saturate the Battlefield franchise beyond repair.
Titanfall is currently a Microsoft exclusive rocking more E3 2013 awards than any other game. On Xbox 360, Xbox ONE, and Windows PC it’s expected to release some time during the 1st fiscal quarter of 2014 while Battlefront is the IP many love from last generation which was picked up by EA Games and handed to DICE for development after they bought the IP from LucasArts during their studio shutdown. Battlefield 4 is on target for release October 29, 2013 in North America and will be available on a bunch of platforms including Windows PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and later down the line Xbox ONE and PlayStation 4.
