Rumor: Bioshock – The City of Dreams Film In The Makings Again

BioShock - The City of Dreams

About one year after the game’s creator, Ken Levine, officially confirmed that he decided to kill the project after a disagreement and discomfort on both a budget and an R rating for the movie ‘Bioshock’ with the publishers of Universal, it seems like the movie might be pulled from the dust.

 BioShock - RealGamerNewz

Sony Pictures bought three different domains last month according to Kotakubioshock-movie.com, bioshock-movie.net and bio-shock.net, which may indicate for a second chance of the movie being produced.

The game creator Ken Levine had stated earlier that he has not ruled out the possibility of another attempt on the movie, only if “the right combination of people” were involved. Perhaps that a collaboration of Sony Pictures and Ken Levine could lead to one of the most gory, and epic RPG games of all time made into a beautiful movie for us all to enjoy.

Would You Kindly ~ Bioshock Infinite Burial At Sea Review

images (7)

Bioshock Infinite has been out for a little over a year now. Now we finally have all the DLC in our hands, mainly the two episodes of Burial at Sea. I will be reviewing both episodes as if they were one, since it really feels like they should have been included together in the first place. So, would you kindly:

2374821-bigdaddy_web

Episode 1: The first episode of the story features a familiar setting and game play. You play as Booker, like in Infinite, and also have Elizabeth as a companion character as well. Gameplay is the same, Elizabeth can open tears at will, toss equipment, and various other stuff. The story takes us back to the familiar place of Rapture, with the graphics of Rapture enhanced; as in all the Big Daddy’s touched up, the scenery, and the general textures. It looks very good, despite Bioshock Infinite not being the most graphically demanding game. The story takes place before the first Bioshock and is takes place after the events of Bioshock Infinite. The story in episode 1 clearly shows us that this is an epilogue to Infinite and prequel to the original titles. Without spoiling too much, the little sisters play a significant role throughout both episodes, and a surprise show down at the end will may make you want to throw your controller at the TV.

Episode 2: The gameplay and the way you approach enemies this time around, totally changes the formula that Bioshock and System Shock both have previously used. This time around stealth is the heavy factor and Elizabeth is the new playable character, she is sadly no where near as strong as Booker was, and she can not just simply run into a room like Chuck Norris and hip fire kill everyone in sight. You must use wits, powers, and weapons while avoiding straight up confrontation with your enemies, especially the Big Daddies. The story takes place right away after the first episode and you can expect a few familiar faces appearing such as Atlas from the original Bioshock. Elizabeth is now emotionally scarred after everything she has been through, she can now see through all the doors with her unique ability of opening tears, and can see in to time (the past, present, and future) along with all of it’s variables and constants. All the “Infinite” versions of her seem to all come down her purpose in this story. Which is a huge twist and you should love it when you see it.

Replay Ability: High

Final Verdict: Bioshock Infinite Burial at Sea now  a complete package is a cool addition to the lore. If you are into the story of the Bioshock games, this really clears some of the confusing parts about the original games, even though  some things about Infinite still remain a mystery. Most questions for Bioshock have been answered, with some shocking revelations, along with some cool gameplay that helps you push through the story. Bioshock Infinite Burial at Sea gets a 9 out of 10.

Irrational Games Team Laid Off, Is Bioshock VITA Vaporware?

Bioshocks Elizabeth In real Life

Update: Apparently Ken Levine is giving the Bioshock development responsibility over to 2K Games. Hopefully the VITA game will still follow through on the original vision of being a standalone game with a full console game experience separate from the other titles events but in the same universe, as its initial announcement had caused much anticipation on the platform.

Ken Levine of Irrational Games announced today that the company responsible for Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite is effectively “winding down” as we know it for favor of a new game design technique involving smaller studio employment and larger focus on what the gaming community wants. Irrational Games is set right in our home town of Boston, Massachusetts. Ken also announced that the primary focus of himself and his team right now is to help those who have been laid off to find new jobs in the games industry, in addition to his new unannounced project’s pre-production which has apparently been going on.

‘Narrative-drive games that are extremely replay-able’ (paraphrased slightly) is the only hint of future projects to come given by Levine at this time. Levine also mentioned that the next project will be completely digital and have no physical edition. This move has many questioning the future of the Bioshock series as if to completely ignore that Ken and his remaining 15 members of staff want to do something groundbreaking again.

However, VITA owners were promised an exclusive game that would stand on its own for the Bioshock series – and that may now be vaporware or if it’s not then it could be outsourced for development elsewhere. Ken Levine announced that his team is heading up a brand new project and will still remain under Take-Two Interactive, the hugely successful parent company of Rockstar Games (makers of the Grand Theft Auto series) and more.

The only games that matter

I am a gamer, always have been. Since the Xbox came out I have been playing that system. In my personal opinion I hate Microsoft but love their products such as Xbox. Even though I only connect to online to buy DLC then I go offline since I think it’s overrated and for other reasons I cannot state. I also have two computers that I can play high end PC games on, but I only play a few. So, for those reasons, I will name some of the only games that truly matter in recent years. And yes,  I have played PS3 and even owned one, but did not really like what they were trying to do.

Every single BioShock game is a masterpiece of gaming. Yes even BioShock 2 especially with the Minerva’s Den add on. BioShock and BioShock Infinite are pretty even, since saying one is better would be incredibly stupid with games of their caliber. Those two games are so good they do not even need a Multiplayer mode. Even though BioShock 2 has one of the most underrated multiplayer modes, I only played online to try it and it was awesome.

All of the Mass Effect games. Do not even mention the ending at all. Grow up, it was a year ago and it has deeper meanings to it. Only people like me seem to grasp the concept of the conspiracy theory in the endings. For example do you honestly think Control, Synthesis, and Refusal are good choices? Refusal is just stupid, Control is allowing a new galactic wide order over everyone, and Synthesis is allowing us to become changed slaves to a new order. Destroy gains all the civilizations freedom to choose what they want by destroying their true enemy. The writers try to make the Reapers appear good, when in fact that is what they want to think. The Reapers being good is wrong, for example they control people’s minds and make them kill people and so many other things. Why would you want something such as them alive?

Pretty much every Halo game out there. I know all the Sony fan boys will try to say “well Killzone is better.” Last I checked Killzone can not keep people playing and Halo is in a war with COD (Since DICE seems to have failed on the Battlefield and Medal of Honor series).  Sony fan boys, here’s a message to all of you haters: you really do not know what you’re missing.

Crysis games on the PC. The graphics are one thing, game play, story, and oh yeah it’s actually good. Nuff said.

DICE=Biggest Fail Ever. I mean come on false advertising big time, bad story, boring modes, it was decent on PC but on consoles I’d give it about a 2.5/10.

This is the game I am most looking forward to in the post. First off, it’s an original idea. That’s something people are scared to do. Saints Row games are already amazing games. I mean, come on if you think this is a garbage franchise you must be a GTA fan boy (Despite those games are good too.)

Now since I got that off my chest I will give Microsoft a message about always online DRM. I’m always Offline DRM. That is trademark Mitch Walters Style.

‘BioShock’ Finite

Reports have surfaced that ‘BioShock Infinite’ Product Director, Rod Fergusson, is leaving developer Irrational Games. Fergusson joined the team at Irrational to help finish the in-progress production of the latest ‘BioShock’ title following his departure from Epic Games where he worked on the ‘Gears of War’ series.

Of his departure from Irrational, Fergusson says “During my departure from Epic, I learned that Irrational was in need of a ‘closer’ to help finish ‘BioShock Infinite…’ I’ve been striving for better storytelling in the games I’ve worked on and I saw this as a great opportunity to learn from Ken and his team on how to build a truly story-driven game.” The Ken to which he refers is of course Ken Levine, Irrational’s creative lead. He goes on to say, “I am very proud of the work that I did and of the team and what they were able to accomplish on ‘Infinite.’  Now with the game shipped successfully, I’ve done what I set out to do here and now I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my life and career.”

He has not announced any future plans, though you can follow him on Twitter: @GearsViking
