Uploading Chris Benoit’s Face Textures in WWE 2K15 will Get You Banned

Chris-Benoit-WWE

Recently 2k Games dropped a temporary ban hammer on a user, preventing him from playing WWE 2K15. The offense was uploading Chris Benoit’s face textures to the game’s online community creations.

After tweeting the game’s official twitter account, claiming he (Cory Bundick) had received a two week ban for “no reason”, 2K’s Marcus Stephenson replied stating, “You were banned because you uploaded a Chris Benoit face to community creations.”

https://twitter.com/stephensonmc/status/540520984730931200

For those who are unaware, Chris Benoit was former WWE wrestler, who was involved in a murder-suicide, in which he took his own life after killing his son and wife. Upon learning this, the WWE quickly distanced itself from Benoit. removing his name from company history, no longer having him in their games etc. So it makes sense, as to why uploading his face would be frowned down upon.

So if you want to avoid the ban hammer, it is probably for the best to not upload his likeness. Oh and the same goes for Hitler.

Wargame: Red Dragon Review

WarGame Red Dragon RealGamerNewz Review

Wargame: Red Dragon is developed by Eugen Systems they are no strangers to making tactile RTS games with the inclusion of the Wargame Franchise and Ruse they definitely know what they are doing when it comes to war-games. Wargame: Red Dragon is also published by Focus Home Interactive which has published games such as the recently released Bound by Flame, Farming simulator, and Contrast. The Campaign for Wargame: Red Dragon is quite intense consisting of 5 separate campaigns they are: Buscan Pocket, Bear vs Dragon, Pearl of the Orient, Climb Mount Narodnaia, and Second Korean War. All of the missions take place over in Asia and involve several factions including; Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and the Soviet Union. All of this takes place during an alternate Cold War ranging from 1979 to 1992, the story is told through clips at the beginning of the each of the campaigns by video’s that have been made for this purpose they do a decent job at setting the stage for the gameplay but not a necessity really, also there are bit of dialog that will be found in each mission from your commanding officers or others on the battlefield.

Gameplay for Wargame: Red Dragon is very tactile system based on realism and real units. When thrusted into the action the game revolves around holding and controlling zones on very large maps. At the start of each match the user is assigned a set of units and each of these are worth so many command points, part of the hud shows how many command points are available to spend on units and as the user continues to dominate the battlefield they are given more command points to add more units. Now for units wow there is a whole slew of units ranging from; soldiers, tanks, ground vehicles, planes, choppers, and of course full naval units. Now this has a learning curve to how each unit works in battle and that will take some time in battle to figure out all the quirks of each unit. It can be very frustrating trying to learn how what units do what and how they do best in battle since battles can get very intense very quickly. The Controls for the game are very basic were navigating the map can be done with W, A, S, D and the rest is done with the mouse.

Wargame Red Dragon - PC

The Graphics for Wargame: Red Dragon are absolutely stunning this thing runs like a beast on most rigs, the amount of settings and graphic detail really is where this game shines. Being able to zoom all the way in and see the huge level of detail on every unit and the terrain is really a huge selling point to Wargame: Red Dragon also by selecting a unit and pressing i all the stats will come up on that unit which is really a great way to learn the units in the game. There is a little bit of slowdown when the screen fills up with units but that is to be expected and it all varies on the users graphics settings. The multiplayer community is really on this game and is willing to either help or dominate the game as fast as possibly so the typical multiplayer community out there and i find that this community is really hardcore into the game so there will be servers up for a long time and no shortage of finding a game online. I would have to say the hardest part about playing online with others is the learning curve since there is no exact matching system and you can join a game where you stand no chance of even winning.

Final Verdict:

Wargame: Red Dragon is a great game in the Wargame franchise it is a bit of a niche game, the gameplay really has a lot to offer with a huge learning curve if the user wants to learn every unit in the game. The graphics the game has to offer are gorgeous and always a great addition to the game. One of the biggest gripes about the game is the missing tutorial in the game there is one but its only text based and really leaves a lot to be desired when trying to learn the game or being new to the franchise i feel this would be much better with a walkthrough tutorial which really only can be found in the game by trial and error. All in all Wargame: Red Dragon is a great title and while it may have a steep learning curve it still is a great addition to the Strategy market of PC Gaming.

Oculus Rift Purchased By Facebook – What Does It Mean For Gamers?

Oculus RiftCon

With many instantly reacting negatively to the news that Facebook bought out Oculus Rift today for $2 Billion dollars ($400 million in cash and $1.6 billion in stock options approximately), let’s take a look at the potential benefits first and then examine the very valid concerns of the video game industry community.

Potential Benefits:

– larger reach

– bigger marketing budgets

– more comfortable completion of original goals with stable funding from Facebook (three founding figures from Facebook and Oculus Rift have already provided decently genuine sounding interview material in which they commit to keeping the project going as planned.

– innovations in virtual reality simulation such as a life-like social networking simulator for the Facebook brand (eventually).

Concerns of the community:

The most early and perhaps most prominent example of this line of thinking has been set by Notch (the creator of Minecraft) who cancelled the Oculus Rift VR version of the game after finding out about the Facebook buyout and providing the world with this explanation:

“Facebook creeps me out.” – Notch (Creator of Minecraft)

Facebook is part of an operation with the NSA, Google, YouTube, Twitter, Microsoft, and many others which combined have created a shared database of copyrighted material, information on individuals including facial recognition through manually training buy user tagging activity, and much more.

Notch is surely aware of this as most well versed programmers worth their salt in skills would be, and though he is too busy making awesome games to stop and comment about such a divergent event taking place in human history – Notch has shown he is going to make his decisions based on what he feels and not worry about who disagrees with him.

Others are even worried that Facebook will either silence the tech by just halting production or slow it down to such a dull grind that the company will no longer function. These concerns sound reasonable in theory for some cynical moment, but in reality – I just don’t see that happening. I believe right now the pros outweigh the cons in terms of technological advancement that can be achieved using virtual reality as a means to experience events simulated, social in real-time, and crafted as a film and/or video game.

Conclusively speaking, the tradeoff seems to be that the more technologically advanced humans become the less privacy individuals will have access to. In the end, that price to pay could be a relatively small one for those hours during your gaming (or in the future, virtual reality) experiences. If one is in the virtual world, a bit less privacy is going to be expected anyways.

Sony is still producing a Virtual Reality headset which will be compatible with the PlayStation 4 (and likely Steam as well for PC Gaming). Microsoft will be licensing a similar technology through a well known manufacturer to produce a Virtual Reality headset for the Xbox ONE at some point, plans are already underway. So in any event, the world will still see an industry-wide push for this tech to be accepted by consumers – and begin what could perhaps become a 5-7 year process to convert the entire world to virtual reality inhabitants.

Questions!

  • Q: When can I buy one?!
  • A: Beginning in 2014, there will be multiple SteamOS machines to choose from, made by different manufacturers.
  • Q: I’m pretty happy with my PC Gaming setup, do I have to buy a new piece of hardware now?
  • A: No. Everything that we’ve been doing on Steam for the last 10 years will continue to move forward.
  • Q: If you guys are delivering an OS to hardware manufacturers, why is Valve also making its own box?
  • A: We’re conducting a beta of the overall Steam living-room experience, so we needed to build prototype hardware on which to run tests. At Valve we always rely on real-world testing as part of our design process. The specific machine we’re testing is designed for users who want the most control possible over their hardware. Other boxes will optimize for size, price, quietness, or other factors.
  • Q: How will you choose the 300 beta participants?
  • A: A small number of users (30 or less) will be chosen based on their past community contributions and beta participation. The remainder will be chosen at random from the eligible pool.
  • Q: Should I create lots of Steam accounts to increase my chances of getting selected?
  • A: No, that won’t work.
  • Q: What are the specs of the Valve prototype?
  • A: We’ll tell you more about it soon. Remember, there will ultimately be several boxes to choose from, with an array of specifications, price, and performance.
  • Q: Where’s a picture of it? How big is it?
  • A: We promise we’ll tell you more about it soon.
  • Q: When will the prototypes ship?
  • A: This year.
  • Q: Will beta testers be allowed to share info about their experience and post pictures and opinions online?
  • A: Yes, that really is the whole point. The input from testers should come in many forms: bug reports, forum posts, concept art, 3D prints, haikus, and also very publicly stated opinions.
  • Q: Will I be able to build my own box to run SteamOS?
  • A: Yes.
  • Q: Can I hack this box? Run another OS? Change the hardware? Install my own software? Use it to build a robot?
  • A: Sure.
  • Q: Can I download the OS to try it out?
  • A: You will be able to download it (including the source code, if you’re into that) but not yet.
  • Q: If I’m not in the beta, how can I help and contribute feedback?
  • A: The Steam Universe Group is where feedback is being collected. Most areas of the group will remain open for participation by all Steam users. Some may be limited to beta participants only, but there will be plenty of ways to contribute feedback for everyone.
  • Q: What games will be available during the beta?
  • A: The nearly 3,000 games on Steam. Hundreds already running natively on the SteamOS, with more to come. The rest will work seamlessly via in-home streaming.
  • Q: What is SteamOS? What’s included?
  • A: Here’s a link to what we said earlier about SteamOS. We’ll have more details to tell you, soon.
  • Q: Am I going to be using a mouse and a keyboard in the living-room?
  • A: If you want. But Steam and SteamOS work well with gamepads, too. Stay tuned, though – we have some more to say very soon on the topic of input.”

Kickstarter News: Final Fantasy VII Web Video Series Wants $400,000

Final Fantasy VII The Web Series

No that isn’t a joke. Final Fantasy VII is perhaps one of the most successful and well known industry beacons of hope in the entire gaming community. The series brought us so many unforgettable moments it has even spawned its own hip hop album (CLICK HERE to hear it) by MegaRan.

On Kickstarter today you can pledge to fund some money towards the $400,000 goal of this project. CLICK HERE to access the Kickstarter and see all the full details.

The legitimacy of this fan web series asking for nearly half a million dollars is EXPLAINED BELOW as there is no real company associated with it and the fans who plan on kick-starting this will definitely want to see where their money is going. There is not exactly proof that a team exists behind this and can actually produce what they are promising, but this is what it says under the “WHO ARE WE” section, seems legit:

WHO ARE WE?

We are a crew of over a hundred multi-talented and established professionals in various areas of film production who have experience on movies like Harry Potter, The Green Lantern, Kick-Ass, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Mortal Kombat, and more.

Here is a short introduction to some of our key members:

Screenplay writer Xander Williams is also an author and actor, whose Final Fantasy VII fanfiction novel, “The Jenova Project” is widely regarded by the FFVII community to be one of the best fan novels ever written, with over 200,000 downloads. Production Manager and

Director/Producer Daniel Purcell has been with the project since its inception, and has grown the team from a few dedicated members to a full blown, versatile production crew of over 200+. All working for free!

Attention RGN Community

RGN Community

‘Ello everybody! Pwnagraphic here. Of course you knew that because the it says “By Pwnagraphic”. Dur..

Allow me to start off by giving a big thanks to the RGN crew for accepting me as one of them. I really appreciate these guys taking me in and allowing me to help support and develop this site and community. I look forward to bringing everyone news, entertainment, and pure sexiness to this website. Now, that said.

I have also been seeing a lot of the fun and exciting things we have going on behind the scenes that I am sure a lot of you are really going to enjoy. Not that they told me, but more that I spied on them in their Skype meeting under another, totally not obvious, incognito alias of “Notpwnagraphic”. They were not wise to my act and I found out a lot of information. Of course I can’t divulge that to you just yet, but you will enjoy what we have in store for you here. So that brings me to this.

I want to ask you, the community, what you would like to see out of this website? Is there something you like to see more of?  Less of?

Perhaps you have some ideas of your own that’ll help improve the site and make RGN your go to site for news.

As I said before. We have a lot of stuff we’re cookin’ up, and it’s going to taste good. Of course this takes time and resources, and with everything really coming together we hope to have the ball rolling on them real soon.

Well, peeps. I am signing off for now. Please, feel free to leave any feedback in the comments below. Except you. I don’t like you. You know who you are.

Skullcandy Named As The Official Play N Trade Headset

Skullcandy is a popular headphones company endorsed by the likes of Stevie Johnson, Jay Z, Kevin Durant, and Kate Upton (to name a few) that not only makes those convenient earbuds you pop into your ears but also high performance gaming headsets including the PLYR 1, PLYR 2, and SLYR products. Play N Trade and Skullcandy have announced today that they will enter a strategic alliance and not only will consumers soon be met with promotional campaigns tying the two together but it was also announced today that Skullcandy has been named as the Official Play N Trade Headset. The following quote is taken as an excerpt from the press release and shows the passion these two companies have for bringing the gaming community products that aren’t just top of the line but also appeal to their aesthetics; skull candy versus eye candy anybody?

“Skullcandy is extremely excited to partner with Play N Trade Video Games. It is an honor to be named the official headset of Play N Trade and who to better partner with than a leader in ultimate gaming tournaments.”

ShootMania Storm Review

When I was told I was going to get to review ShootMania Storm I was super excited because I love Nadeo and their games are awesome. Their catalog consists of high caliber titles such as TrackMania Nations and TrackMania Canyon. Both of these games have always been played at a lot of Lan Parties they are time trial based games and require a lot of perfection and technique. I played in the Open Beta for ShootMania Storm and at first I was very impressed with the fresh new gameplay. The community was very behind this game and that was good because I could hop on to the servers and always find games.

This is strictly an online multiplayer game, so there is no single player to the game. ShootMania Storm is aimed at the competitive eSports scene. The gameplay is supposed to be very fast paced it takes elements from other first person shooters such as gliding when you go down slopes. However, in the final product the movement feels like a slow downed version of of Quake Live or Unreal Tournament. As for the weapons, well you have one that is on your arm. It has limited shots and they charge up after you shoot so timing is critical, they also travel straight so shooting ahead of your competition is not a wise choice.

The controls are your basic WSAD or your arrow keys for moving and shooting is with your left mouse click and your right click is for action and hold it down for more stamina while moving. Its easy to pickup, but is not a game I would recommend buying by yourself though. It’s a lot more fun to play with a group of people you know. The graphics in the game are nothing to write home about, they are basic color pallet. Though the fog animation and effects in this game are really some of the better effects I have seen in games.

One of my biggest complaints with ShootMania Storm is the lack of servers, and there aren’t that many of them. If you were to log onto the servers on a weekday you would be lucky to find about 6 servers in the whole world. On a weekend there are a handful more, but not as many as there should be. It feels like the community has really died down in this multi-player only game and it has the potential to be a great game but at the end of the day it really has some problems with it.

If there is almost no one playing on the servers, it really doesn’t make sense why you’d want to buy the game solo. The only redeeming factor would be to buy it with a group of people dedicated to giving the title a shot. The lack of customization or lack of weapons is also a very sore point for me. This game has moderate re-playability but with the lack of servers on the game, I find this will be one game I won’t be going back to very often to play.

ShootMania Storm is not the best addition to the FPS genre but will still play like other games in the series, I was expecting a lot more from this studio but in the end it really relies heavily on the community to play it. ShootMania gets 4.5 out of 10 from RealGamerNewz.
