Destiny Hard Mode Crota Isn’t As Hard As It Looks..

destiny_by_ecodigital-d5vuqdx

Bungie finally released the hard mode raid the Crota’s End on January 22. The top five contenders finish this battle in under one hour, very impressive. My raid team didn’t complete this fight in under a hour but we did complete the whole raid in under three hours and for the first part of the troll cave you are capable of receiving a 32 gauntlet, shards a pulse rifle or even a auto rifle. These rewards aren’t guaranteed so you can escape with a just shards. The second part of the raid is basically the bridge pretty easy once you practice it on normal .But a bit hard if you never did this legit. So if your just wondering how you do this I’ll explain this in steps.

Always send the titans over the bridge first due to the fact that if they have the helm of the saint 14 they can go across the bridge, drop the sword place the ward of the dawn on the gatekeeper that could blind him and you can pick up the sword and bash him. if you don’t have the helm then which to striker class and use flash grenades. There will be knights that will be shooting you down, just be careful. Make sure you give people there roles so nobody is lost and run around like a chicken with there head cut off. Once everybody is across then half the team push right side with gjallahorn three shots will kill the ogre on the right . Then push the same people to the left side and take out the ogre (gjallahorn isn’t a must but is the most effective weapon). Once the ogre are down then the loot drops which can be chest armor, leg armor pulse rifle and assault rifle. The next step is the deathsinger there’s a trick to this and the trick is if you complete this on normal then you will not get no rewards on hard so the best thing to do is complete it on normal so you can skip it to hard. So once you beat the deathsinger have a friend save the checkpoint on Crota so you can do this on all your guardians.

So once you get to Crota himself you need allot of teamwork and communication. The loot that drops is a shader that glows in the dark, a badass ship, crux of the Crota, a hand cannon, scout rifle, or an exotic. Check out the video below to see the communication and teamwork and a great way how to defeat Crota himself.

xbox one 2

Break your piggy banks and get out your wallet gamers cause Microsoft has announced the temporary reduction of the moderately acclaimed Xbox ONE’s price by $50. “Ooooo, $50″ I know that is what half of you are thinking, but that adds up, especially with black Friday about a month away, and with sunset overdrive and Halo: The Master Chief collection releasing recently there is no reason not to get one. (Ha, get it,”one”).. So either get it now, or maybe wait and see what Black Friday sale’s bring because if you wait to long that price is going to go right back up to where it is right now.

The price drop will begins on November 2, 2014 and finishes on January 3, 2015. It is also US only.

Industry Talk: Mark Cerny’s Vision Finally Realized

Mark Cerny PS4 Lead System Architect

To say it has been a long time coming for Mark Cerny, who joined forces with Atari’s coin op division at the age of seventeen in 1982 making arcade games, is an understatement.

Best known in the early 80’s for (Marble Madness) designed and co-programmed by the man himself and published in 1984 by Atari, Cerny didn’t find much success with his first endeavor. At that time arcade games weren’t appreciated as they are today. He decided to leave Atari and join forces with Sega in 1985 to work on titles for Sega’s Master System. His first major hit was Sonic The Hedgehog 2 in 1992 which sold millions of copies.

He also designed and programmed the notable Kid Chameleon better known as Chameleon Kid in japan in 1991 for Sega.

Later he left Sega and joined as first member of Crystal Dynamics to develop games for the 3DO due to Sega’s ambition to compete with Nintendo’s quantity of games rather than the quality. He dabbled with 3DO and soon realized that the system itself wasn’t suitable for 2d or 3d games that satisfied his vision.

Looking elsewhere acquiring the PlayStation Japanese Dev Kit, from the main man himself Shuhei Yoshida, Mr. Cerny was one of the few US based developers that dabbled with the PlayStation tech before the console’s launch in 1994. With his vision finally realized he joined Universal Interactive Studios in 1994 to serve as Vice President later to become president. In his four years at Universal Interactive Studios he signed on Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog (the creators of Spyro The Dragon and Crash Bandicoot franchises at the time respectively). Once both of their contracts were up at Universal Cerny left to form Cerny Games Consultancy to work closer with the Sony PlayStation teams.

In the Early 99’s the first Sony PS2 prototypes were being developed. Shuhei Yoshida heard the tech was too powerful for many developers due to it’s complexity. Due to Cerny’s lengthy expertise in the gaming industry Shuhei Yoshida decided Cerny was the right man for the job to develop the tools needed for developers to easily develop for the PlayStation 2. At this time he created the beautiful engine used for Jak And Daxter and also in turn helped design Ratchet And Clank. As the PS2 was maturing Shuhei Yoshida formed the ice team short for (initiative for a common engine project) led by Mr. Cerny.

Due to all Sony’s studios working separately (to unify them) and rising costs of game development. On the verge of PS3 development Shuhei got the approval to involve the ice team due to the cell processor difficult tech. The tech was too difficult to develop for even with the ice team on board. The PS3 launched with a weak line up due to the complexity of the cell within the PS3.

After so many trials and errors in his gaming career Cerny decided to take a stand and finally realize his vision of the perfect console he had envisioned so long ago. In 2008 his vision has finally realized getting appointed as the lead system architect on the powerful PlayStation 4.

The rest will now be history.

Congrats Mr. Cerny on all you have accomplished and will accomplish.

We salute you.

The Witch and the Hundred Knight (PS3) Review

th

The Witch and the Hundred Knight is an action RPG title published and released exclusively on the PS3 by NIS America in North America on March 25th of this year. It is a stage based hack and slash game with a top down isometric view similar to games like Diablo.

The player controls a powerful demon/creature named the Hundred Knight which is summoned by the swamp witch Metallia to help her in accomplishing her goal of spreading the swamp to other regions of her world. As the Hundred Knight you must activate Pillars spread throughout the world which also double as warp points between pillars and Metallia’s swamp, where you will be given quests to complete.

As with any video game, this one has both positives and negatives. After playing roughly 20 hours of the storyline, and only progressing through about one-third of the game I will try to give everyone a good rundown of the good, the bad, and the ugly up to this point.

The Good
From the moment I started the game I was impressed with how easily the game was presented to the player. Controls start off simple (which is a good thing). After a short introduction on how to play the basics of the game, you are allowed to go on several small tutorial quests to get a hang of the combat, controls, and leveling up system. Hacking and slashing is controlled by just two buttons with an action button assigned to pick up or examine items. The D-Pad is used to access your items, map, bonuses, and weapons.

the-witch-and-the-hundred-knights-playstation-3-ps3-1369297368-063

Stages are good sized and well laid out with the difficulty set just right. In game dialog is informative and funny. I found myself chuckling quite a lot with the what was being said by Metallia and the other characters. I found that the writers managed to put in a fair amount of cursing, which is hilariously “bleeped” out. The English translation in the game appears to be done really well as I found no instances of “engrish”. The music in the game is also excellent, and is probably one of my favorite things about this game. Both during regular play and boss battles the mood of the music helps to set the tone of the game. You get a mix of traditional instrumental music and what I can only describe as K-Pop.

The Bad
Even though the game is fun, I was a little underwhelmed with some parts. Normal graphical gameplay looks slightly fuzzy and seemed almost as if the game developed on standard definition and then ‘up-res’d’ to high definition. While not a huge deal, the game could benefit from better graphical fidelity.

Something that did hinder my play through however was the save system in the game. While map progress is saved on the fly, the game does not permanently save the items you pick up unless you exit the current stage by activating a Pillar.  To save your progress completely, you must go back to the swamp, and save there. Time after time I forgot to save as I progressed through a level only to die and lose all my new weapons, power-ups, and bonuses. I screamed more than a few obscenities when this happened for good reasons.

And then there is the dialog. Even though I enjoyed the conversations not all of it was voiced. I really could not tell why the developer decided to use voice overs for some parts and not for others. There is an extreme amount of dialog as well, so much that I often just skipped it to get to the next part of gameplay. A cut scene with dialog would occur at an end of the section that lasted several minutes and then also at the beginning of the next section.  A good deal of the dialogue was not essential to the story-line and while funny, I found myself getting bored with it after a while.

The-Witch-and-the-Hundred-Knights-23.05-01

The Ugly
The game crashed on me randomly. Several times, for no reason, both during normal questing and boss battles the game would crash out to the XMB. And of course, I had forgotten to save so I lost several hours of game play. This was by far the most frustrating part of my experience with this title.  Word for the wise…save often!

In Conclusion
If you are in the niche market for a good action RPG with a strong story, lots of dialog, and plenty of gameplay then this game is for you. Even with the complaints I had I found it easy to pick up and play thirty minutes here or there.  While an update to fix the crashes would only make the game that much better, I can still recommend this game to those interested.

I give this game a 7 out of 10.

Rumor: Repackaged PS4 At Target Selling For $280

PS4 VS XBONE SALES - VGCHARTZ - REALGAMERNEWZ

Looking to jump in to next-gen consoles, but concerned about the $400 price tag? Well, have no fear Target is here! No, seriously, according to Reddit user That1One_Guy if you go to target you can purchase a repackaged PS4 for the low price of $280 IF it has a small red label at the bottom. Not all Targets do this either though. A good amount of Targets return the product itself to the company and list it as defective. So, if you are lucky enough you may be able to find a Target around you that doesn’t.

He says:

“The only way to know is to look for the small red label. They kind of hide them so you buy the full price ones but if you ask they’ll tell you if they have a repackage. ”

Which is very responsible of them to do, but if you plan on purchasing a PS4 this can help you with that. Comparatively speaking GameStop is planning on selling used PS4 consoles at $369 which was revealed last November.

Now with repackage people do seem to be a little weary about this and that is a good standpoint as a consumer. The product has already been in the hands of another consumer and for some reason they decided to return the product. Another Reddit user also chimed in after purchasing the the repackaged console with the following:

“Yes indeed they do! I was in a target last month and was browsing. Sales guy walked up and asked if I was interested in a ps4. He then told me of a return that had just come in. I bought it and the two year return policy for 347 after tax. Great deal.” ~ Thedrixel

While this seems to be a great deal for some also note there can also be an issue with the product itself. With most repackaged products you will have the standard 30 days to test it and return it if any problems arise. Before checking out make sure you make them aware of the red label (Otherwise you won’t get the deal), inquire about your personal return date, and if you are interested enough grab the additional 2 years like Thedrixel did with the total still falling below GameStop’s used price without the 2 year additional warranty.

So, here is your chance to grab a slightly used PS4 at a solid price of $280. The downside to this is that every Target may not have this and you have to actually look for it. If you’re interested go to your local Target and look for PS4’s with a red label at the bottom. At this point you may be thinking you hit jackpot, but be sure to protect yourself and make 100% sure you would be able to return it if the console is faulty. Protect and enjoy yourselves!

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance PC Review

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance first appeared on consoles in February of 2013, but has finally arrived for PC. It now plays in 60 FPS and 1080P, that is if your rig can handle that. Although, I do highly recommended playing this game with a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse – because the way the control mechanics work, it is difficult to play with keys. This is definitely a great game, but it does still have some of the flaws that the console versions have. With that said, it is still an amazing game to freshen things up for the PC gaming community.

Story: The game starts off four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4, Raiden has been contracted for VIP protection, in a developing country recovering from a civil war. While protecting the Prime Minister of this land, they are attacked by a cyborg organization. Playing as Raiden you must fight your way through these enemies, in order to save the VIP. I will not spoil the story for you, but he tastes utter defeat and is later rebuilt. Raiden’s mission, is to put a stop to those responsible and have his vengeance. The story is okay, but it could have been better. It is also very short; it took me under 5 hours to complete the game.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Screenshot 3

Gameplay: Playing MGRR was a really fun experience. It’s full of action with the perfect amount of cut scenes to keep it interesting. There are a variety of different cyborgs and boss levels to fight. Every new boss fight wows me with how they look and their new fighting tactics. MGRR is not a stealth game like previous Metal Gear games in the past. It does have some stealth in it, but it is not primarily a stealth game. Overall, the gameplay is a perfect combination of action and story.

Controls: The controls for the PC version of MGRR are quite difficult to use. Even for an experienced PC gamer. This game was made for consoles, then ported to PC. It is designed to be played with a controller. I was fortunate enough to have a Xbox 360 controller so I used that for the majority of the playthrough. I’d highly recommend that if you are considering buying this game to really think about if you’re willing to use a keyboard to play; if not, maybe you should pick up a controller.

Metal Gear Rising Screenshot 2

Characters / Enemies: MGRR has great characters that come and go throughout the story. They sound and look like real people which really helps immersing yourself into the Metal Gear world. The story goes very smooth with the introduction of new characters and how they act. Same goes for the enemies; they also look and sound amazing, and somehow always surprised me when a new enemy was presented.

Graphics: MGRR does not have the greatest graphics that I’ve seen, but they are still pretty good. Remember, this game was made for console – with the hardware of 7 year old machines. Considering that, the graphics are amazing, but for a 2014 PC game, not so much. MGRR requires a lot of system requirements to run it on the highest settings, although the highest settings don’t compare with other great graphics games like Battlefield 4 or Crysis 3. With all that said, the graphics are okay; they are definitely enjoyable to look at, but I feel that the game uses a lot of power but still only looks like a console game.

Metal Gear Rising Screenshot

Soundtrack / Audio / Voice: MGRR is laced with rock music playing in the background at most fighting scenes. I personally don’t prefer rock music, but it makes the action feel more badazz. The audio effects of fighting and simple things like walking around sound great. Voices are even better! The characters’ voices should sound like real people, but in some games they just don’t sound real. MGRR doesn’t have this problem, Kojima did a wonderful job with the audio.

MGRR has no multiplayer or co-op features whatsoever. There is not very much replay ability unless you are an achievement hunter or really enjoyed the game enough to replay it. It doesn’t have side missions although I should add that if you complete the game that you will receive all DLC for free. The engine performs well; I experienced no glitches or problems at all.

Final Verdict:

MGRR was a great game for last generations consoles, and for this generations high-end gaming PCs. The graphics could be better, and the campaign could be longer. It also would have been nice to play multiplayer, but MGRR is still a good game – there are only a few problems. I recommend that you try this game for PC, even if you have already played it on console. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is a nearly flawless game, it earns a solid 8/10.
