Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Review By Examiner Hosts BIG Spoiler Within First Couple of Paragraphs

MGSV-GZ

Excited about Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes? Well, I hope you didn’t read the Examiner’s Review for it. Because unfortunately there was a HUGE spoiler within the first three paragraphs that completely ruined the game’s ending for some users. Warning I am about to add the photo of the article before it was fixed. Luis Santos ranted that the game was a scam and gave it 1/5 stars stating it is a demo.

Luis Santos can be seen defending his review in the comments section and defending it rather….. well, to put it gently rudely:

“Well sir, I am sorry that my review didn’t live up to your expectations. I was more concerned with people spending $30 on a demo that lasts 20 minutes. I had to spoil the game because it was the only part of the game you could actually review, everything we’ve seen on the trailers is on this game. Think of this as a playable trailer, if there is a complete joke, is the fact that Konami would put something out like this and charge you a premium for it.”

“Stop your crying man, how old are you? It’s a 20 minute demo, it looks like you can’t get past that fact.”

“Because it was secondary to the game length, and because I chose not to. I hope I have satisfied your demands dude.”

This was in response to a gamer who is mad. The gamer is mad for a great reason though. A game he is a fan of was completely spoiled for him. Regardless of the length, this gamer has been waiting for this addition to the series to come out. Shout out to gamers sticking up for what they believe and outraging when a review like this is thoughtlessly posted. It is evident that they did not stick to protocol and released a bad review that spoiled the game for many. The article was titled as “Why Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes is A Scam” and gave the game a 1/5 stars.

Global Sales Update: PS4 Sold Over 400% More Consoles Than Competitor; Knack Outsold New Donkey Kong [Data]

PS4 VS XBONE SALES - VGCHARTZ - REALGAMERNEWZ

According to the latest industry numbers being tracked by VGCharts, among others, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Global Sales for the Nintendo Wii U (for the week ending in February 22, 2014) have racked up somewhere in the neighborhood of 198,292 units (bringing the lifetime sales total for the title to 236,557 units). Knack for PS4 on the other hand has made a significant jump during the same week ending Feb 22 and has achieved 329,036 sales in one week (bringing the lifetime sales total for the title to 908,682 units).

The rest of the list also tells a pretty interesting story of how various demographics are spread out to mainly the Sony PS4 and PS3 in addition to the Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and MS Xbox 360.

Global Sales - Knack Outsold Donkey Kong

But of course players really want to argue, sling mud, debate, analyze, and get ‘giddy’ over the Global Hardware Sales for the week. So here it is. According to the numbers, The PlayStation 4 has achieved just below 4X as many sales as the Wii U did during the same one week period and the PS4 has surpassed selling 4X as many units as its competitor consoles. The PS4 sold 449,705 units bringing the total to 5,847,194 lifetime global sales of the next-generation gaming console from Sony already.

The Nintendo Wii U sold worse than the Xbox ONE and only achieved a move of 44,503 units versus the XO’s 56,769 units in the same one week period. The global lifetime sales total of the Xbox ONE is currently sitting at 3,544,947 while the Nintendo Wii U has only moved 5,765,484 units globally in its entire lifetime despite coming out a full year before the PS4 and Xbox ONE systems. Sadly the PlayStation Vita remains barely more relevant than the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo Wii while Xbox 360 sales are definitely on a decline and see PS3’s sales lead over 360 distancing further away. Take a look at the hardware charts below and draw your own conclusion.

DICE And EA Games Made One Of The Most Beloved FPS Ever; But Its Glitches Are Killing EA Stocks

Battlefield 4 Jon Ireson DICE Examiner

You all know me. I’m one of the most vocal gamers in the world. Perhaps many have ‘googled’ my name next to Battlefield and DICE in the past and seen my history with the company and their sometimes false and misleading advertising. This passion on reporting about their games comes from the fact that I myself am a Battlefield fan – who guessed it? Since Battlefield 1942 I haven’t missed a beat yet, and yet I was the first to call them out on what I viewed as a string of shoddy releases.

However, I’m about to celebrate my birthday in a few days and the item I’m most excited about treating myself with is Battlefield 4 on the next-generation platform. All of the glitches have not stopped my renewed optimism for the series, knowing that DICE has done something impressive and special with their next-generation iteration of BF. Unfortunately, EA Games and DICE are having a hard time getting their many, many glitches and issues fixed for Battlefield 4. Their stock values are suffering from this. As a gamer I am prepared to bear with them while this time of moaning continues onward. I am hoping for the best and I am rooting for DICE. Perhaps the most unlikely gamer to be rooting for a company that has gone out of their way in the past to talk smack about me in the public spectrum.

What is it about gamers and being abusive to developers anyways? Oh yeah, we covered that yesterday in a massive article (featuring indie dev Gabby Taylor).

The bottom line is this – EA Games and DICE have had a lot of patience from fans with these glitches and patches and have even announced they will no longer develop DLC until the game is fixed, but the time is running out and the clock is ticking. I’m not the only one who still hasn’t booted up the game yet. It’s the holiday season. This is the time for DICE to make or break themselves with fixing these problems in terms of a large wave of people about to flood their servers (or cry trying). Let’s all join together and hope they can pull it off as BF4 has become easily one of the most loved shooters of all time (despite what you may have heard last night on that corporate cheese show). Good luck guys, I know you can do this.

EA Games and DICE Explain Reasons for Delaying Battlefield 4 Bug Fixing Patch

battlefield-4-ps4-playstation-4-game

The PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 4 will have to wait to have the one-hit-kill bug fixed from a patch which is being developed as we speak by DICE for publisher EA Games. Sony gamers around the world have been experiencing this problem alongside a myriad of other shaky launch issues which EA and DICE are ironing out in what is being called one of the most fun Battlefield multiplayer games of all time, partly thanks to the advent of next-generation console technology.

DICE and EA offered the following explanation for delaying a patch that would fix these problems. They need more time to finish testing the patch. They believe the current version of their new patch would cause PS4 copies of Battlefield 4 to crash when trying to play therefore it will not be released at this time until those issues can be alleviated from the internal testing of the patch.

Once the patch is ready a number of other issues will also be addressed including the amount of friends a player can have before they experience issues with EA’s servers as well as capturing of audio and video during gameplay through the PS4 share button. Stay tuned to RealGamerNewz.com for more information as it becomes available.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Story DLC Details Revealed

AC4 Freedom Cry DLC 2

The first story DLC for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has been revealed. The downloadable content will be releasing on December 17, 2013 according to a new advertisement that has been debuted and is free for Season Pass owners to the AC4 title in addition to being allegedly 4 hours of content.

Players will take up the role of an unarmed slave who must deal with the disaster of starting out with nothing after a ship he was on has become disabled. Stay tuned as Ubisoft announces more information and RealGamerNewz is able to publish a follow up. The name of the DLC is reportedly ‘Freedom Cry’ which seems pretty fitting given the setting proposed by the new advertisement.

Are Warhawk Servers In Danger? Dylan Jobe Says SONY Hasn’t Said So

Warhawk Best Multiplayer Game of All Time

In a casual conversation with a fellow Warhawkian over Twitter this evening @DylanJobe responded to our fears of Warhawk’s PlayStation 3 Dedicated Servers being shut down. For those of you that know me well you know that Warhawk is my favorite multiplayer game of all time. The topic came up as we were both discussing PlayStation 4 titles and our fond memories of the incredible Warhawk game.

Recently rumors had been circulating the PSN chat waves that Warhawk’s PS3 servers would be shut down “soon”. When asked by twitter user @keithelliott1 (known as AutoTranz to the PSN / Warhawk community) @DylanJobe replied from his official Twitter account with the following tweet:

Warhawk Dedicated Servers

Here are the PS3 Warhawk Dedicated Servers in all their glory.

Now if only the Warhawk community could get together and bring SONY to the realization of how amazing this title was, bring it back somehow for the next-gen, then I could die a happy man having seen nothing like it and nothing as good since I first began shooting stuff on DOOM.

PS4’s DualShock 4 Controller Wastes 4+ Hours Of Battery Life On Feature Devs Don’t Use @yosp

PS4 DualShock 4 Battery Life

Red Bar of Death… just kidding! 🙂

***UPDATE:

Rumor: Sony’s DualShock 4 Getting Increased Battery Life

PlayStation 4’s new controller is amazing. The DualShock 4 is more accurate, capable, and powerful in every way compared with the tried and trusted DualShock 3 of the PlayStation 3 era. The addition of a touchpad, more comfortable triggers, universal (Android-style) micro-USB charging port, headphones jack, and light-bar for PlayStation 4 Eye support are equally as awesome.

But there’s one problem. Whereas the DualShock 3 could last you perhaps 8-13 hours of battery life (I find myself charging them less than once per day usually, at times less than once per two days), the DualShock 4 comes in at an extremely disappointing 4-5 hours of battery life.

I literally recharge this thing 3-4 times a day when I’m playing a lot and at least twice on a light gaming session. How is this possible you ask? The light bar (obviously) is completely and exclusively to blame for this. While I mention above that it’s a great addition to the controller, there is no option to turn this obnoxiously power-sucking light off. Unless I need it for local co-op, PlayStation 4 Eye-enabled games or even games that use it for a cool new feature like tracking me while I’m playing for enhanced realism in the gameplay of PS4 games – then why am I powering it?

PS4 Controller Battery Life Sucks

Don’t get me wrong the Transistor game brings a sexy teal color to it.

I already run a lot of things in my house that require juice. My PC tower, my laptops, computer monitors, televisions, refrigerators, microwaves, clocks, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox ONE, portable gaming systems when they need charge, smartphones when they need charge, routers, modems, security systems, and that’s just what I can recall off of the top of my head. Last time I checked we had a few light bulbs around here too.

Another problem that comes to mind is the fact that Lithium iON batteries are eventually going to cease holding a charge. This hasn’t happened very often for me with SixAxis and DualShock 3 controllers on PS3, but it’s happened. Each time that it happened, I felt I got well worth the value out of the life of my PS3 controller’s battery. With PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 though, I can almost guarantee you I’m going to rage when the day comes that it starts suddenly only hosting gameplay for 3 hours… then 2 hours… then dies. I’ll know it died way too soon and immediately curse Sony for making me power the light bar even when I wasn’t using it AT ALL.

PS4 Controller LEDs Suck

Testing…1..2..3… wow is this thing seriously consuming that much?

The fact is the PS4 Eye is great. It’s a lot like the Sony version of Kinect, and holding a controller while being tracked (with the addition of an accelerometer inside the controller) can and will eventually provide us with incredibly deep gameplay experiences. Nobody knows what they are yet, but I honestly believe in the tech and its potential. Unfortunately there’s nothing right now making it worth half the battery life of my controller.

Please Yoshida and Sony team, do not keep up this madness. I realize you have to prioritize patches and what features you’ll be including in them – but do this one soon.

Before March 2014 I’d like to be able to say to my friends and to myself, Sony cares about the gamers so they made the Light Bar optional or automatically turn on when you need it – or SOMETHING instead of saying “PS4’s great… but the controller dies a million times a week but yeah don’t worry about that!”. Thank you, sincerely a fan.

PS4 Power Saving Settings

This is where we need a fourth option: turn off Light Bar.

Atlus Has Permission From SEGA To Use Their IP Such As Phantasy Star

Atlus SEGA Shenmue Phantasy Star IP

SEGA has announced that they will allow recently acquired developer Atlus to use classic SEGA intellectual properties (including games like Phantasy Star or Shenmnue. The following quote comes from the corp responsible for the late, great Dreamcast console many gamers look back upon fondly:

“While we have no intention of forcing this, we’d definitely love to have them utilize any of Sega’s dormant IPs.”

RealGamerNewz.com will soon be launching a few articles covering the entire Shenmue situation, but for now we’d like to say that Phantasy Star seems like the most likely candidate for Atlus if they did decide to grab up an Old IP to work on. This might never occur if Atlus decides not to walk where angels don’t dare tread, but the possibilities are endless and speculation will run rampant from here on  out.

Killzone: Mercenary (PS Vita Exclusive) To Receive New Multiplayer Maps + Game Modes For Free

Killzone Mercenary Free Maps

Some time before the upcoming Summer we’ll see the release of Killzone: Mercenary Multiplayer Maps for free on PlayStation Vita. For those who don’t know, the PS4 exclusive brother / sister of the game (Shadow Fall) will also be getting free multiplayer maps instead of paid MP DLC (though there is a Season Pass being offered for co-operative play mode content). The PlayStation Vita title will also receive a new update adding  an offline Botzone game mode as well as Guerrilla Warfare game mode.

Connectivity issues will also be addressed as the game becomes even more optimized to playing online multiplayer on Sony’s next-generation handheld device. Be on the lookout for an official date when it becomes available from publisher Sony. The images in this article are also serving as concept art for the new maps.

Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4 Exclusive) Adds Left Handed Support (Huh?) And Bug Fixes w/ 1.05 Update

Killzone Shadow Fall 105 patch

Free updates, we like ’em, we loathe em. On one hand they are free and probably improve the game we’re playing (unless it’s EA’s Battlefield 4 but hey, that’s another story for another article). Killzone: Shadow Fall on PlayStation 4 will now allow you to aim with the left stick and walk with the right stick. This is a feature that barely any games support and yet Guerrilla Games are calling it “Left Handed Support” as if it’s a standardized function of controllers.

If anybody actually prefers to play with this feel free to correct me but I think it would be way too hard to get used to after not having the feature made possible for so many years worth of games since the last one I’ve seen that supports swapping the thumbsticks. That also got me to thinking, if this is really important to people and helpful for lefties – shouldn’t all games support it? How hard is it really to swap key bindings from one stick to the other in an options menu? Not sure but in any event, here are your patch notes!

Patch 1.05 bugs fixes:

  • Several UI issues fixed
  • Error messages in Multiplayer amended to have better indication of the error
  • Edge-case crashes related to friends lists fixed
  • Additional integrity fixes for the patching system
