Rainbow Six: Siege PS4 Trophies Breach the Internet

In order to earn the ‘Master of Siege’ Platinum trophy, you’ll have to complete a variety of tasks, including reaching Clearance level 50, customizing a weapon and killing an enemy with a breach charge. Ubisoft Details Changes to Rainbow Six: Siege based on Closed Beta Feedback

Ubisoft Montreal has released an extensive list discussing the wealth of changes made to their upcoming first-person shooter. The developer took a look at the feedback from fans who had the opportunity play the closed beta last month.

“Our primary focus during this testing period was to figure out how we can improve matchmaking, and test our online infrastructure. We also paid close attention to feedback in order to fine tune gameplay elements ahead of launch.”

The many changes made to the game include, improved matchmaking, Operator tweaks increased difficulty for its co-op mode and more. Check out the full list of details below, along with new information about what to expect with Ranked and Custom matches.

Operators

SHIELD OPERATORS: Reduced hipfire accuracy plus other small balancing tweaks

  • Laser sight bonus reduction will decrease the efficiency of hip firing.
  • Dispersion increased by 2.5x while hip firing with a shield equipped.
  • Dispersion further increased up to 5x while taking fire on the shield.

During the Closed Beta, players above clearance level 20+ had a kill-death ratio of 1.96 while playing shield operators, and 1.31 without. We also saw this pattern in the win-loss ratio: Blitz and Montagne have the best win-loss ratio in Attack. Reserve attackers with shields were not taken into our calculations, and Fuze was an anomaly mostly because his AK was the preferred loadout, not the shield.

The purpose behind these specific changes is to focus the shield operators on playing a support position. They are meant to provide cover to their teammates firing from behind. We will continue to review these operators, and all others, in the post-launch.

PULSE: Cardiac Sensor has been polished for greater player comfort

  • Added 3D visual Feedback on the screen with a ‘sonar style’ feel. This should increase navigational comfort for players while using Pulse. We also increased the refresh-rate of detection and accelerated the booting of the device.

Early in development there was a lot of concern over Pulse’s cardiac sensor being too effective. We made several changes to the gadget after the Closed Alpha and sure enough, our data during Closed Beta shows that Pulse is pretty evenly balanced. He’s ranked 5th (out of 7) for defense operators based on win-loss ratio, and is ranked 3rd based on K/D ratio. Still, he was one of the lesser chosen operators overall and we realized the gameplay might not be fun enough, so we added some polish.

IQ: Increased the range of detection for the EDD to 15m. We didn’t want to increase too much or else the player would detect too many gadgets at one time, making the situation difficult to read.

BANDIT: Increased damage given by electrified gadgets and reduced visual audio feedback for rival team. Opponents will need to be closer to detect. Increased damage values are not yet final.

Weapons & Gadgets

Shooting Mechanics

GRIPS: Reduced recoil reduction bonus

  • During Closed Beta, adding a grip to a firearm lowered recoil by 40%. Now it is lowered by only 25%.

LASER SIGHTS: Reduced the accuracy bonus

  • During Closed Beta, laser sights gave firearms a 40% accuracy bonus, which we’ve reduced to around 23%.

These changes are meant to reduce the overall effectiveness of hipfiring, and encourage more tactical, purposeful shooting in ADS.

Terrorist Hunt

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: We’ve heightened the challenge for all difficulty levels

  • Normal: AI accuracy increased by 40%, damage increased by 5%.
  • Hard: AI accuracy at mid-range increased by about 20%, with quicker reaction times and a damage boost.
  • Realistic: Reaction time even faster. AI accuracy has been further improved based on distance and weapon used.

As mentioned in the Closed Beta Infographic, the completion percentage on Normal was 91%, Hard was 58%, and 19% for Realistic. This data is observed and balanced for 5 person teams, and we’re aiming for achieve 60%/30%/10%, respectively.

BOMBERS: Several updates to improve gameplay experience with Bombers.

  • Bomber movement outside of buildings has been limited to only one Bomber.
  • The damage curve for Bombers now diminishes the further away the player is from the source of the explosion. Explosions used to maximum damage no matter where you were in the damage radius.
  • Note: You can also use EMPs to disable the Bomber’s explosive device.
  • Teleport bug fixed.

NITRO CELLS: Damage reduced

  • Reduced damage output of Terrorist Hunt nitro cells.
  • Removed problematic nitro cell placements (couldn’t shoot it, find it, otherwise inaccessible, etc).

While carefully sweeping an area room to room is an important part of Terrorist Hunt, we found there was a lot of frustration with the number of nitro cell insta-kills. These updates are meant to provide a less frustrating, but still engaging and tense experience.

ONLINE AND MATCHMAKING

MATCHMAKING: Multiple long-term improvements

  • Thanks to all the data gathered during the Closed Beta, we have decided to remove some unnecessary complexities of the underlying matchmaking systems, while preserving our core values of matching players based on (not sorted by priority) their skill, account level, network performance and geographical location. We’re not ready to release the details until a couple more tests have been run, but we’ve seen very significant improvements in matchmaking times.

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER: Downtime between rounds reduced by about 30 seconds

  • All end-of-round reports (meter and scoreboard) are now removed. Scoreboard can be accessed from the Operator selection screen.
  • Best of 5 for unranked matches, 6 rounds + best of 3 overtime for ranked matches.
  • [Unranked Only] Objective and insertion point voting for ATK and DEF removed, and will be random. The game will communicate the spawn location during the operator loading screen.

Players felt like there was too much downtime between rounds, and these changes were made to give a more consistent game time during the course of a match.

RANKED: New Details

  • Ranked matches have voting on spawn/objective location
  • Ranked matches do NOT have Death Replays
  • Ranked matches will utilize a minimal HUD setting
    • No scoring indicators
    • No grenade indicators
    • No threat indicators
    • No reload indicators
    • No teammate outline
    • No kill confirmation marker

This is just a small sample of what the Ranked gameplay experience will look like. More details to come.

CUSTOM MATCHES: New Details

  • Will be playable on dedicated servers (in an update shortly after launch), with the following constraints:
    • Match requires 10 players in it
    • The data center that will host the game will be the closest one to the player who created the custom game session.
    • Once the lobby has been created, the server will wait a certain amount of time for it to be filled up to 10 players. If the wait duration goes above a certain limit, the custom game session will be cancelled.
    • Custom games hosted on dedicated servers will not be listed and will be accessed by invitation only, after the lobby is created.
  • Custom matches that aren’t held on dedicated servers (LAN or peer-to-peer) will be listed in a server browser.

VOTE KICK: Now only requires a majority vote to work (ex: if there are 5 players, it requires 3 votes. If there are 3 players, it requires 2).

VOIP: Push-to-Talk notifications in game switched from blinking to static when talking.

UI/UX

  • Unified Operator badges – Special color pallet by CTU with better readability. New badges based on unique gameplay aspect of each Operator.

Lionsgate is Working on a Borderlands Movie

A movie based on the popular video game series, is in the works. Variety broke the news this morning, confirming Avi and Ari Arad as the film’s producers.

“Part of our strategy in entering the game space under Peter Levin has been to source new brands with built-in audiences that will translate into great films and television shows,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. “The ‘Borderlands’ games don’t pull any punches, and we’ll make the movie with the same in-your-face attitude that has made the series a blockbuster mega-franchise.”

No details on who will direct or a release window have been revealed at this time. Take-Two’s Interactive Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick had this to say in regards to this announcement.

“Lionsgate has emerged as a major creative force in the global marketplace with an incredible portfolio of brands; our partners at Gearbox have pioneered and cultivated an iconic property; and Avi and Ari Arad are two of the most successful producers of action franchises. This alliance is ideally positioned to create a bold, provocative, no-holds-barred motion picture phenomenon that will delight ‘Borderlands” current legions of fans and captivate moviegoers around the world.”

The first Borderlands game launched in 2009 to critical acclaim. Its sequel Borderlands 2, in 2012 received similar praise. Personally both games couldn’t hold my interest for long (Playing solo), though they were quite funny. Hopefully the movie can deliver on the laughs.

Halo 5: Guardians Earns a T Rating

The fifth numbered entry in the Halo franchise has been rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB, Gamesradar discovered today. All previous Halo titles — with the exception of Halo Wars, Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike, have been rated “M for Mature”.

The content descriptors reveal the game will feature blood, mild language, violence. It appears the violence in Halo 5 has been toned compared to its predecessors; its official rating summary mentions occasional blood-splatter effects, while Halo 4‘s lists “Large blood-splatter effects” and describes a gory scene. Halo 5 Rating Summary:

This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a super soldier (Locke) searching for a missing character. Players use pistols, machine guns, grenade launchers, and futuristic weapons to kill alien and human enemies in frenetic combat. Battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and occasional blood-splatter effects. Characters can also use “assassinations” to kill characters by snapping their necks, or by stabbing them with bladed weapons. Activision released a brand new zombie themed trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Those who purchase the game’s Collector’s Edition will be treated with “The Giant”, a bonus map for its zombie mode.

Seattle Seahawk’s running back, Marshawn Lynch will make his video game debut later this year in Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops III. ESPN dropped the announcement today, when they revealed the official cover of their next magazine issue.

Due to hit newsstands this Friday, ESPN’s very first eSports issue provides an exclusive look at the creation of his character via motion capture, body scanning and more. “Beast Mode”, as he is referred to in the NFL, will be playing a villain in the game’s campaign and looks to bring the same intensity he delivers on the gridiron, with his role.

Lynch is a huge fan of the COD franchise and has been since his days in College. He also feels that it is parallel with his on-field philosophy.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege Releasing this October

Ubisoft has finally revealed when fans can get their hands on the next installment in the Rainbow Six franchise. Starting October 13th, players will be able to engage in 5v5 asymmetrical close-quarters combat on PS4, PC and Xbox One.

A new video released by the publisher, features some the game’s playable operators (Twenty in total) and the tools they bring to the table. Pre-ordering the game will grant you access to its closed beta.

Here’s When You Can Expect Evolve’s Next Four Hunters and Monster to Join the Fight

2K has revealed when players can download the next batch of hunters and the monster, for their 4v1 first-person shooter. On March 31, Evolve’s next four hunters will be able for all platforms. Players will also be able to download the next monster, the Behemoth on the same day. The Behemoth will cost $15 for those who didn’t pre-order the game, while those who did will get him for free. The four hunters; Torvald (Assault), Crow (Trapper), Slim (Medic) and Sunny (Support) are included in the game’s season pass for $24.99.

TORVALD (Assault)

TRS Tip: Torvald’s Mortar is obviously great for splash damage at a distance, but you can also aim straight up for a close-range drop. Combine that with the Shrapnel Grenade to bring the Monster a world of pain.

Crow (Trapper)

“THESE THINGS ARE TOUGH….WONDER HOW THEY TASTE.” –CROW

  • Pet Batray named Gobi, who flies ahead on command to scout for the monster’s location
  • Stasis Gun with two firing modes: A rapid-fire mode for briefly slowing down the Monster, or a charged shot for a longer effect
  • His Kinetic Long Rifle deals a lot of damage-per-second with its rapid-fire mode, while a charged shot will penetrate a Monster’s armor and damage its health.

TRS Tip: Send Gobi out often. He should be looking for the Monster even when you’re in a dome to keep tabs on it. Also, try to stick with the charged shot with the Stasis Gun – it will slow the monster longer, as opposed to short-burst shots.

Slim (Medic)

“YOU GOT TOO MUCH HEALTH, GOLIATH! GIMME SOME!” – SLIM

  • His Leech Gun saps the Monster’s strength and dictates how quickly his healing burst recharges
  • Healing Burst has the largest radius among all medics
  • Slim’s Healing Drone flies around have aids his teammates by regenerating their health
  • His Spore Cloud Launcher masks the Hunters scent, making the Monster’s ability to smell their location useless

TRS Tip: Fire the Leech Gun often – even if you don’t think you’re hitting anything. The Leech gun is how Slim replenishes the Medic Heal Burst ability. The more shots you take at the wildlife (and the Monster), the faster it recharges!

Sunny (Support)

“YAY! WE DID IT! WHY DIDN’T ANYONE BELIEVE ME? YOU GUYS ARE SUCH DOWNERS.” – SUNNY

Sunny

  • Her Shield Drones will provide cover for nearby teammates
  • The Jetpack Booster allows her teammates to fly farther and faster. As long as they are within range, their jetpacks won’t run out of fuel
  • Sunny’s Mininuke Grenade Launcher does more damage than any other hand-wielded weapon in the game with a single projectile

TRS Tip: Jetpack Boost teammates that are being attacked so they can dodge out of the way as much as possible. Also, if you’re hot on the trail of the Monster, Jetpack Boost your Trapper so that they can keep pace and drop a dome on it.

Karma’s a B*tch; Evolve’s Wraith Glitches Out

Ask anyone who has encountered the wraith in Evolve and they’ll confirm; she is overpowered as hell. Despite having the least armor and health out of the three monsters, her unique abilities and speed make her a formidable foe. Too formidable in fact. When the monster that is supposed to be the toughest to play as, ends up with a high win rate, you have a problem. When more and more players start using her to get easier wins, you have a bigger problem. It starts to hurt the overall experience and results in frustration.

Which is what this wraith player must have felt towards the end of our match. Despite giving my teammates and I a hard time, we eventually prevailed. Not because we outsmarted our opponent, or fought to the bitter end like true warriors. No, no, we won because the bastard got stuck. Check it out below.
