Quake Champions Gameplay Trailer

Quake Champions is the upcoming return of the popular arena shooter from Id Software. Quake Champions looks to be following the trend of hero based arena shooters, but with that classic Id gore. But it offers something different from the competition, seeming to be a true classic 90’s arena shooter. Quake Champions will launch on PC sometime later this year.

The Uncharted 4 E3 2015 Extended Demo is Here and it’s Glorious

Drake

Naughty Dog has released the extended version of the highly talked about Uncharted 4 demo, shown at this year’s E3. The extra footage picks up (Obviously) where the previous video left, as Nathan continues his attempt to rescue his older Brother Sam from his pursuers. What follows is an action packed spectacle that puts a lot of movies to shame.

You can skip ahead to the 7:30 mark in the video if you want to get straight to the new footage. Honestly though, watching it from start to finish, makes it that much cooler.

Uncharted: A Thief’s End will release in Spring 2016 exclusively on PlayStation 4.

Dovetail Games Fishing (Hands-On) Preview

Dovetail Games Fishing - RealGamerNewz

Hello all RGN gamers it me again John Clark bringing you another game write up that you all may enjoy if you’re into your carp fishing like I am. The game is called Dovetail Games Fishing. This game hasn’t been out for long and it’s still getting made. The developers behind the game are really good at taking the community’s feedback on board so the fishing simulator we all would like is beginning to emerge. So let’s get on with the details of Dovetail Games Fishing as it currently stands today, shall we? Here we go.

So first off let’s talk about the game’s modes. There are currently 4 game modes:

1. Academy
2. Casting Challenge
3. Hunting Challenge
4. Free Roam

Dovetail Games Fishing - Gameplay Steam - RealGamerNewz

1. Academy: Let’s talk about the academy first. This is a really good help for new players trying to work out the keyboard controls to the game. It will also give a chance to learn the basics of the game.

2. Casting Challenge: This puts players’ casting to the next level. I am still enjoying to return to this one even though my accuracy is really not that good in game as it is in real life. Dovetail Games have managed to come closer to capturing the real life feel of casting than previous titles of the genre, which was one of their biggest goals in development. It’s really fun to do this challenge and I still play this every couple of days to see if my casting is getting better. I have nearly got it ‘to the t’, but not yet and I’m not going to give up so if you like a good challenge, well, this game mode is for you.

3. Hunting Challenge: Players unlock this by completing the Casting Challenge which I have not done to the best of my ability yet so I cannot really give this a proper write-up just yet so read on for my detailed thoughts on the game overall as I’ll return with thoughts on the Hunting Challenge at a later date (be on the lookout).

4. Free Roam: The game mode where you sit back, relax, and just fish! Until you can’t fish no more. 🙂

Dovetail Games Fishing - Gameplay - RealGamerNewz

The graphics on this game are out of this world. You’d think the carp are real like you have got them in real life and the way the fish are animated as well makes it easy for players to tell if it’s a 5 pound fish or a 25 pound wish on the rod. Reeling one in has never felt realer. For example, if not done correctly the line will get too tight and snap, it’s only happened to me a few times on the game and it was with bigger fish but you never know for sure until you master this game. I put it down as ‘the fish that got away’ and kept on fishing.

The game has a lot of little touches that make it great like the way the rain sounds hitting the water, and flying planes passing overhead. When you’re on Free Roam mode and you’re sitting there with 1 rod in that moment it feels blissful and is very similar to the real life feeling of fishing for carp. Soon there will be updates adding to the amount of rods in the game as well as fish types. There are gravel spots where, if you get lucky, you can catch fish all day long. There’s also muddy, salty, and weeded areas under there though so be careful.

Looking in from above of the water, the carp cannot be seen very well yet but the graphics were recently put into the game for this making the water transparent. The splashing gives hint that some are underneath that spot and must be tracked to realize where they are at any given moment. It’s still a very good experience even in Early Access and once updates add in options for baits, more rods, and more areas then things will begin to kick up into high gear.

Of course with any Early Access game there are a few things that could use improving as well and hopefully will be addressed before the final build is issued. What I’d personally like to see when players put down their rods on the alarms the writing saying ‘fish here’ and rest rod need to go as it stays up on the peg and get in the way when you’re looking on to the lake to see where the fish are and can not tell where because of the extra clutter. Another issue is that the water looks like it’s still all of the time. It’d be good to see wind wrinkles in the water and the direction it’s coming from [*Update: This has been added in Phase 4!]. What would also be cool is if on the farm at the side the development team could put some cows and pigs and that in with the sand of them as well. Just some minor additions that I think could make an already realistic game feel even closer to real life.

Dovetail Games Fishing - Early Access Gameplay - RealGamerNewz

All in all this game is good and is only going to get better. The team behind it really care about how people react to them making each update and they can always be contacted through Facebook or Twitch where they remain consistently asking us players what we like and don’t like about the current build as well as what we would like added into the game. I was saying to them something about a peg with a waterfall in it and now they’re looking into it and going to pop it into the game. When I think about the fact that it’s even being attempted I’m pretty happy to see a developer care so much about their fanbase. It’s not 100% guaranteed that this will make it to the final build but consider this, me saying one of the things I’d love to see added in the game to make it feel more real and even more relaxing when you’re on the peg fishing is being considered by the developers with open arms. That just shows a strong degree of dedication to customer service during Early Access which is what it should always be about.

Anyways, I’m hugely enjoying this game and hope the write-up was helpful for people considering picking it up on Steam Early Access. Take a look at the Official Trailer of the game below and be sure to hit up the Steam Page for the game to find out more.

Black Ops 3 Gameplay Shown for First Time Ever

Black Ops 3 Co Op Campaign

Wonder no more, the gameplay reveal is here for the next chapter in the Call of Duty franchise. Pushing things further into the future and continuing the trend of Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 will feature cybernetic soldiers as rumored. There’s also a New Zombies Mode, though that is not mentioned in this particular trailer. The entire story mode of Black Ops 3 will be playable as co-op with 2 players on the same system or 4 players online.

This one’s all about the gameplay footage. It appears the title won’t be available for PS3 / Xbox 360 but that is yet to be totally ruled out. For now though, assume this game is only going to be available on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox ONE when it launches this November 6, 2015. Take a look at some of the brand new stuff you can do in the game with your cybernetic technology. *Pre-ordering the game will also ensure Beta Access.

Halo: Spartan Strike Review

2015-04-18_00001

The Year is 2552. Murder aliens for the good of the human species in Halo: Spartan Strike, where you don’t play as Master Chief but you will be fellow a Spartan soldier uncovering the details of events in the Halo story-line previously shrouded in some degree of mystery. Thirty missions are faced as back-story is given to the Halo franchise and that same beloved twin-stick shooter gameplay from Halo: Spartan Assault is brought to an even higher quality level. Tom Salta who did the soundtrack for Halo 2: Anniversary is back again to provide a moving score that feels great while gaming, and graphically the title has been taken to a new level as well. While you can get the game from Windows Store on your Windows 8 Phone, Windows 8 PC, or the Apple Appstore on iPhone / iPad, many people enjoy playing through Steam on Windows 7 still and Microsoft chose not to leave us behind thankfully. The game is fully available on its own for just $5.99 or with the original game it sequels for $9.99 as a two-game bundle.

In addition to Achievements there are also Assault Ops to accomplish which are goals that correspond with the statistics of your actions in battle. This can be very fun and rewarding and speed-running or just trying your best in missions does enhance the feel of the game. The classic pistol damage has been cranked up a bit. One shot kills on most enemies can now be possible with the pistol allowing players to get crazy kill-streaks that have that old halo feel to them, but you need to be skilled enough to pull this off. That isn’t as hard as you might expect because of a bit of Aim Assist being added into the picture.

Yes, a tiny amount of aim assist being thrown in to the game and although it requires players to be aiming almost in the exact right spot to begin with it can be annoying at times when a kill is completed then your aim gets thrown off because the aim assist was correcting the angle of fire and you didn’t know it at the time. This cannot be turned off which is a bit of a downer overall, but luckily it’s not too heavy of an Aim Assist to make me want to stop playing. There are a lot of improvements to the game including subtle touches to the user interface which make it more useful and better looking, but also bigger changes such as the way the story flows with missions, the graphical quality and gameplay design being at a higher level, and the surplus of weapon choices adding to tactical decisions mid-battle really make this game worth the extra investment of money and time over just playing the original and stopping there.

Halo Spartan Strike RealGamerNewZ Review

One way that replay value is extended is by rating your performance from each match. You can spend money on using different gear to go into battle with versus the original layout designated for that particular mission, but this can add to the challenge rather than help you out at times. There’s also a skull system to add difficulty to the game for higher experience payouts at the end. It would have been nice if some sort of endless survival mode could be designed since I really feel that these spin-offs have a huge potential for that, and then the replay value would be even higher. However, the game as it is has a lot to offer and I think it’s great how many full-size Halo features were crunched into this smaller experience. It’s great being able to pick up and play in short bursts something that feels so fun and true to the Halo franchise.

A couple issues that I did find slightly annoying but not game-breaking were that alt-tabbing forced the game into a Windowed mode with the wrong resolution for me. This might not be a problem for all users and could entirely be a symptom of my exact software configuration, but it still merits mentioning nonetheless. The game also seems to not recognize my Xbox ONE controller unless I plug it in before booting up the game. As long as your Xbox ONE controller is being recognized though, you can switch between the two inputs at the main menu’s settings screen. At the end of the day these issues are not really a big deal though and the game itself is very addictive and fun with an excellent flow.

Users on the iOS or Windows Phone are reporting that some of the mobile-specific issues with the original title have been very much improved such as touchscreen controls being much more responsive. Players are able to use all-new weapons, such as the Incineration Cannon, Scatter Shot, Binary Rifle, and more. There are also brand new armor abilities including an Airstrike, Proximity Mine, Shock Chain, and more.

Final Verdict:

With so many improvements over the original title, Halo: Spartan Strike takes an already fun formula and makes it even better. The game looks better, feels better with enhanced hit detection and more engaging, longer missions, and gives a lot of new content such as weaponry and enemies to be battled. Even after the title has been beaten the addictive nature of it makes you crave more. While waiting for a third entry to this side-series of Halo players can rack up Assault Ops accomplishments, Steam Achievements, and level up their game through achieving better results, playing against tougher scenarios through skull difficulty modifiers, and afford going out into combat with their favorite weapons for each mission which may actually make the game harder in some cases. Halo: Spartan Strike manages to come off feeling like a full production and could have easily been believable as a $15 game but instead comes in at a nice low cost of $5.99 and surely will satisfy players on Desktop PC (especially if they have a controller) despite the design for Mobile which has also been improved. Halo: Spartan Strike earns a 9.3 out of 10 from RealGamerNewz making it an RGN Gold Rated Game of 2015 and is easily one of our favorite twin-stick shooters of all time.
