Cable Internet Providers Admit Data Limits Are Not Necessary

Internet Map RealGamerNewz

In addition to holding back download speeds perhaps to force you to get your streaming television / film content on their archaic hardware Cable Internet Providers also limit the upload abilities users have, causing them to be unable to do advanced tasks their hardware would otherwise handle easily – like host sophisticated servers for example.

Now Ex-FCC Boss Michael Powell has revealed to the world that Cable Internet Providers have admitted to the public there is no actual hardware limitation causing data caps to be placed on internet plans such as broadband and fiber. Instead, Powell explains, the reason data caps are being placed is for providers to decide how much to charge various types of users for what is essentially the same technology had it not been for the limits they themselves control. This opens up all kinds of discussion such as the merit of charging for faster internet or more bandwidth per month.

Cable and Fiber remain the most sturdy and widespread networks in the United States while in some other countries Wireless still dominates and Wireless claims to have hardware limitations that explain the various tiers of pricing – but now that Cable doesn’t will users have any other choice but to continue paying for large companies to rake in massive profit margins? Also, as people begin to pull the plug on Cable TV for services like Netflix will we see Cable ISP’s aggressively going after people who pirate films / tv and refuse to lower prices / increase data rates citing loss of customer-base on the entertainment front? Pictured above is an example of how the internet’s network is mapped, time remains to tell the full story of this issue.

Phil Fish Cancels Fez 2 After Telling Journalist to ‘Kill’ Himself

kil-yourself fez 2 cancelled

According to reports, the developer behind Fez 2’s website and Twitter have announced that the game has now been cancelled. This stems from a long-winded Twitter argument which includes Fez creator Phil Fish telling a journalist to “Kill” himself while also berating the entire journalism industry as well as making a proper arse of himself and fellow indie game developers who might have been voicing some extremely unpopular opinions. Turns out this is very lightweight in terms of internet drama, but nonetheless Phil Fish appears to have turned into quite the crybaby over it. The argument played out something like this:

  • Journalists: “MS might self-publish.”
  • Phil Fish: “No they might not.”
  • Journalists: “Nah Uh.”
  • Phil Fish: “Yah Huh.”
  • Journalists: “Can we have your thoughts on this Phil Fish?”
  • Phil Fish: “How dare you ask for my thoughts on this. You should kill yourself.”
  • Journalists: “Wha? Hey, you can’t say that to us.”
  • Phil Fish: “Fez 2 cancelled.”
  • Phil Fish: “I’m a victim, feel bad for me. Also, I quit making games citing the previous sentence.”

Phil Fish - Hypocrit Developer Quits the Biz over Tweets

Yeah some real abuse Phil, FROM you not towards you, nice try though. I’m sure the twelve people who know what Fez is are heart-broken right now, but fear not. Reports are still coming in fresh that this may all be a publicity stunt and the game may not really be cancelled after all. Only time will tell.

Google Buzz Discontinued, Backups of Your Posts Go To Google Drive

Google sent out an email today detailing the changes in Google Buzz as it is completely shut down July 17, 2013 and during this shutdown apparently users who did opt-in and use Google Buzz will have backups of their posts saved to their Google Drive account viewable by people on Google+ and verified with authors of the post. Take a look at the full communication below which was sent to customers today. Google is currently making way for larger investments as they will soon begin rolling out Fiber Internet technology and service around the United States to compete with Cable and Fiber Internet providers for High Speed Business, Gaming, Television, and Server solutions.

Google Buzz Discontinued, Backups of Your Posts Go To Google Drive

Buzz User,

In October 2011 we announced Google Buzz was shutting down. On or after July 17th, 2013, Google will take the last step in the shutdown and will save a copy of your Buzz posts to your Google Drive, a service for storing files online. Google will store two (2) types of files to your Google Drive, and the newly-created files will not count against your storage limits.

The first type of file will be private, only accessible to you, containing a snapshot of the Google Buzz public and private posts you authored.
The second type of file will contain a copy of only your Google Buzz public posts. By default it will be viewable by anyone with the link, and may appear in search results and on your Google Profile (if you’ve linked to your Buzz posts). Note, any existing links to your Google Buzz content will redirect users to this file.

Any comments you made on other users’ posts will only be saved to those users’ files and not to yours. Once the change described in this email is final, only that user will be able to change the sharing settings of those files. This means that if you have commented on another author’s private post, that author could choose to make that post and its comments public. If you would like to avoid that possibility, delete all your Buzz content now.

The new Google Drive files will only contain comments from users that previously enabled Google Buzz, and the files will not contain comments that were deleted prior to moving the data to your Google Drive.

Once the files are created, they will be treated the same as any other Drive file. They are yours to do with as you please. This includes downloading them, updating who can access them, or deleting them.

Before these files are created, you can view the Google Buzz posts you have authored here. If you do not want any of your Buzz posts or comments saved to Google Drive files, you can immediately delete your Google Buzz account and data.

Thank you for using Google Buzz.

The Walking Dead’s Governor Looks Through Gun Scope, With A Blinded Eye

AMC’s The Walking Dead may have left a few things up to the imagination in their third season of the show as this internet meme now circulating online reveals that The Walking Dead’s Governor Looks Through Gun Scope, With A Blinded Eye. Feel free to pass this one around with your Walking Dead frenemies around the web for “the lols”.

**Editorial Note: I myself am a fan of the show but at least I’m smart enough to know that the Governor doesn’t need eye sight to aim, he is just that good.

How To Stop the Internet From Spying On You – Opt Out of Online Behavioral Advertising

Recently it has come to the attention of many internet users, and since then grown to become common knowledge in the digital age, that not only is their user preferences and login information being kept up-to-date using Cookies but there is also advertising that is tracking all of your behavior on the internet in order to try and give you advertisements that you are more likely to consume (click on). All for the sake of getting you to click on advertisements more frequently (or so they claim) at least 97 corporations aim to see everything you’re doing on the internet.

They even know you are reading this right now.

The good news is, you can stop them right now.

You can opt out of Online Behavioral Advertising for up to 5 years at a time. Thanks to the regulations from the skeptical industry surrounding these behavior-monitoring programs, you actually have a tool at your disposal which will identify how many and which companies are tracking your web browser at the current time. The following link will bring you to this tool which allows you to Opt Out of Online Behavioral Advertising: CLICK HERE. (Use at your own risk, read caveats below)

The regulators of these behavior-tracking programs claim that opting out of this behavior tracking will not disrupt the services you already use online, however RealGamerNewz makes no assumption that this is being enforced. We have proof that this is going on, but not proof that the Opt Out system will entirely stop the tracking of your behavior on the internet and internet-connected machines.

Xbox 720 = Online Only + No Used Games, According to Eidos President

The President of major game company Eidos has released a statement that the Microsoft Xbox 720 is headed for release. Not only that, but in fact some very key specific features about the machine. Being the second source to reveal this to the press, President of Eidos released this statement:

“Broadband speed globally isn’t at a level that justifies digital-only.” …“With the next Xbox, you supposedly have to have an Internet connection, and the discs are watermarked, whereby once played on one console it won’t play on another,” [CB]

This means the Xbox 720 will not work without an online connection. You won’t even be able to play the games you’ve paid for. Forget about renting, letting a friend borrow, or even replacing your game’s physical copies. That will be a thing of the past unless something changes before the final design of this console.

Although the President of Eidos himself seems quite certain that this is a bad idea, he seems equally certain Microsoft will go ahead with the scenario. Microsoft’s Xbox 720 may not be the only system that embraces an “always online / no used games” setup for gamers to deal with. Steam’s upcoming home console may have more tricks up its sleeve than yet to be imagined. For more of the latest info on this, check out the latest RealGamerNewz Podcast here discussing the Pros and Cons of Digital Only Games.
