RUMOR: Nintendo’s Next Portable System, “New3DS” Could Be Region-Free (Import-Friendly)

Nintendo New3DS

***UPDATE: Nintendo has confirmed that the New3DS will NOT be Region-Free and in fact will have the same Region-Lock technology as the Nintendo 3DS, disappointingly. The original unedited rumor follows below:

Nintendo recently revealed to the world that they will be releasing a brand new Nintendo 3DS called “New3DS” that has more RAM, a better CPU (Processor), more trigger buttons, a directional right analog nub, and exclusive game “Xenoblade Chronicles for New 3DS” coming alongside it this October in Japan but not until 2015 in North America. There will be a large LL (XL) version as well as a normal sized one both of which are bigger than 3DS and 3DS XL respectively by a small margin. New3DS also comes with a better 3D viewing screen according to Nintendo which will allow the display of higher resolution graphics and more wide viewing area for the 3D effect gamers on Nintendo handhelds currently enjoy.

A new Rumor has arisen, regarding the fact that New3DS could be the gateway to traveller’s getting the best of both worlds. Those who travel between the Americas, Europe, Japan, Australia, etc. on business may want to be able to purchase games on the go that work in their unit. Even more so, Import-Friendly gamers may want to pay the extra fees and shipping to get a game that only came out in Japan. Nintendo might be allowing a Region-Free setup for New3DS according to whisperings on Wall Street. If this turns out to be true, any New3DS game from any country could be played in a New3DS of any origin. Games and Handhelds would be universal for this transitional-gen of Nintendo New 3DS.

Operation Zero: First Promotional Image of Fatal Frame 5 Released

Fatal Frame 5 RealGamerNewz

Word is traveling around the ‘net thanks to 4gamer (a Japanese gaming site), NeoGAF and Beyond the Camera’s Lens, that along with promotions for the Fatal Frame movie that’s coming out in Japan 9/26/14, a promotional teaser image of Fatal Frame 5 in development for the Wii U has been released. The picture shows the four women that were featured in Fatal Frames 1 through 4 with a shadowy view of what could possibly be the new protagonist to be featured in Fatal Frame 5, it doesn’t show gameplay, but it does lead to speculation on the story like no one’s business. It looks extremely interesting, and definitely generates buzz for the game. Personally, as a huge fan of this franchise, the possibilities of where the story will go and what it will entail are beyond exciting and lend themselves to some interesting discussions. We will be keeping afoot of any news about the game and as always, we encourage you to join Operation Zero‘s Official Facebook page.

Zelda – Hyrule Warriors (Wii U Exclusive) New Screenshots + Concept Art Released By Nintendo [Official]

Zelda - Hyrule Warriors

Hype, anticipation, confusion, curiosity, doubt, belief, hope; these are some of the emotions that can be attributed to Nintendo Wii U gamers right now who prefer to pursue a seal of Nintendo approved exclusive title such as Hyrule Warriors. This title may end up getting its name changed before the final build is shipped to the public, and Nintendo commissioned Omega Force / Tecmo Koei in order to get it done. Nonetheless this is a great chance for fans of Link to experience something different while waiting for the project currently codenamed as ‘Zelda U’ or ‘Zelda Wii U’ by conspiracy watchers.

The following Official screenshots were released by Nintendo for Hyrule Warriors the Nintendo Wii U Exclusive announced late last year. These snapshots were taken from “the good angles” using in-game rendering. In addition to showing off some semblance of what the final product’s gameplay may end up being like, these screens also reveal a few landscapes Hyrule Warriors will feature and showcase the newly envisioned graphical presentation of well-known characters Link, Impa, Wizro, Valga, Shia, and The Black Witch.

Nintendo also released the following Concept Art images for Zelda – Hyrule Warriors. These images include enemies and potentially playable characters. Concept Art is created for use during development of the game and usually respresents the way characters will be represented in the final product, but may vary as they are something of a blueprint for developers to run off of.

So far, it’s unclear what the final name of Zelda – Hyrule Warriors will be or how the retail game will differ from the preview material we are being shown. If Nintendo’s track record is any indication though, extensive QA testing is hopefully on the horizon for this title’s development cycle. Hyrule Warriors is currently expected to release in Japan on August 28, 2014 and has not been given a release date for Europe / Australia / North America regions just yet. Also, in case anybody missed it, below is a convenient replay of the Hyrule Warriors 2013 Announcement Trailer released by Nintendo in December.

**Update** Valkyria Chronicles Trilogy PS4 Remaster Rumor Gets Debunked

Valkyria Chronicles PS4

Update: DualShockers has confirmed that the following Rumor (left unedited below) is a fake (source).

Valkyria Chronicles is a gameplay experience that has to be felt in person to truly be appreciated. That being said the game can be described as a turn-based RPG but with aiming and shooting, and while that might not sound good in text format the game has gone on to become a major success and beloved cult classic. The originality, unique feel, fun factor, and re-playability of the RPG elements sprinkled on top is able to quickly addict players and keep them coming back for more. So it’s to nobody’s surprise that the entire internet is exploding with excitement over the fact that Valkyria Chronicles is going to be ported to the PlayStation 4.

There are two releases expected. One will take place during Summer 2014 and contains the original game remastered while the second release will have parts 2 and 3 remastered. In addition to balance adjustments being carried out on the final version players are looking forward to seeing later this year there will also be downloadable content included in this release which was put out previously for additional charge. The news comes from a Japan source so details are a bit dodgy at the moment but if you know how to speak Japanese then pick up a copy of Famitsu today!

Zelda Musou: Hyrule Warriors (Wii U Exclusive) Gets Japan Release Window

Hyrule Warriors - Wii U Exclusive

For those of you who are unaware, there is a new Zelda-licensed game coming through the pipeline from the team that develops the Dynasty Warriors franchise. For now that game project is being called Hyrule Warriors. Once we got to see our first look back in december at the vision the teams at Nintendo and Tecmo Koei have been putting together it became clear that this game has serious fun factor potential and could provide a great diversion when not playing main chapter entries in The Legend of Zelda franchise.

Take a look at the footage below.

Zelda Musou Hyrule Warriors Wii U Exclusive

This game is expected to release in Japan during Summer 2014 and is being published exclusive for the Nintendo Wii U by Nintendo and Tecmo Koei.

Dark Chronicle Trademark Stirs Dark Cloud 3 Speculation

Dark Cloud

Sony has become the source of speculation this morning as a web bot in charge of keeping tabs on the latest trademark filings has unearthed a trademark filed by Sony for the name “Dark Cloud” in Japanese which comes across as “Dark Chronicle” when put into English.

This trademark filing has many speculating that a Dark Cloud 3 video game could be in production or at least in the early stages of planning. This is the latest in a string of seemingly isolated incidents which could lead to a larger picture showing Sony prepared to announce a multitude of titles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 coming up this June, seeing that recently Sony Trademarks Potentially Name Two New Titles.

Sony reps have also mentioned time and time again the existence of a list of fan favorites and high-demand requests from the gaming community. This dream wish list of gamers is meant for Sony to identify high priority projects and develop as many dream games as possible for the PlayStation platforms (particularly the PS4). Among these titles includes Shenmue 3 (which might actually be happening). What games would you like to see Sony put together from your dream wish list?
