Kinect-Less Xbox One Coming in June

xbox-one-angle

Despite stating on multiple occasions that they had no plans of releasing an Xbox One SKU without the Kinect, Microsoft has announced today, that a Kinect-less version will drop on June 9. It will cost $399, the same price as Sony’s PlayStation 4.

MS has also revealed that both Games with Gold and Deals with Gold promotions will be available in June for its next-gen console, allowing owners with a Gold membership to chance to get free games as well as special discounts.

Lastly it has been confirmed that many apps and services such as Netflix, Youtube and Hulu Plus will no longer require a Gold membership in order to access them.

Despite deciding to release Xbox with the Kinect bundled in Microsoft has made it clear that they are not giving up on it.

“To be clear, as we introduce this new Xbox One console option, Kinect remains an important part of our vision.  Many of you are using Kinect for Xbox One every day. In fact, more than 80 percent of you are actively using Kinect, with an average of 120 voice commands per month on each console. Some of the most popular voice commands include “Xbox On,” “Xbox Broadcast” and “Xbox Record That.” We will continue to offer a premium Xbox One with Kinect bundle to deliver voice and gesture controls, biometric sign-in, instant personalization, instant scanning of QR codes, and enhanced features only available with Kinect in games such as “Kinect Sports Rivals,” “Just Dance 2014,” “Project Spark” and more. “

The Kinect will also be made available to purchase separately in the fall, for those who decide to get one later.

343 Industries Working At Multiple Projects On Once

Halo-Trailer-on-Xbox-One-6

Many may not remember this, but in a major interview 343 Industries had stated that they were working on more than one project at once. This opens up the doors for the Halo franchise, not only to continue its trilogy started with Halo 4 (as promised to fans by 343i) but also to create other, new projects.

One of these projects is Cortana for the Xbox ONE Kinect, Windows Phone 8, and other devices that use voice commands. Players will get to speak with Cortana and have her speak back. It is unknown exactly how much 343i has their hands in this, but it’s safe to say that they are certainly overlooking the project to some degree at least.

Halo for Xbox ONE is tossed between the names “Halo”, “Halo 5”, and “Halo on Xbox ONE” so often it almost seems as if Microsoft isn’t sure which game they want to market first. It is likely that 343 Industries has most of the development focused on one project at this time, whichever is meant to release next – but is also working on the early planning stages for their other titles. These projects could be Halo 6, Halo 7, spinoffs, remakes, who knows – it is really unclear at this time.

halo_5_screengrab.0_cinema_720.0

Right now the most highly likely situation is that 343i is in fact creating a Halo 2: Anniversary Edition Remake as we previously reported in our rumor section – in order to release as soon as possible and warm the crowd for Halo 5 which is most likely the main development project for the company right now.

However, there is another possibility being discussed by investors and gamers which is that Halo 1’s multiplayer was never correctly remade in full – instead it was pasted on top of Halo: Reach gameplay. There is a remote possibility that 343i could remake the Halo 1 multiplayer and release it alongside the single player remake with Halo 2: Anniversary Edition all in one package for Xbox ONE.

This would mean that players could play both titles on the X1 to see the storyline roots of the series, then be encouraged to buy Halo 5 when it comes out to see the full experience 343i and Microsoft will offer at that time on the Xbox ONE hardware. Even more remotely plausible are the possibilities of 343i considering a Halo 3 remake and Halo 4 port to Xbox ONE some time in the distant future, or that they may be working on Xbox 360 software as well still. Time will remain to tell the story, however we can say for sure that 343i has something up their sleeve for Xbox gamers coming soon.

Microsoft VS Google: Who’s Stealing Customer Data More? [Tech]

Microsoft Scroogled Cup

Recently Microsoft took their ‘You’ve been “Scroogled”‘ smear campaign against Google a step further. For those who don’t know MS has been running ads for well over a year now pointing the finger at Google and Gmail for “stealing” customer information. In reality, both companies are guilty of this as Microsoft’s Skype and Xbox ONE products are known to cooperate with PRISM, the National Security Agency (NSA) project.

Microsoft put some ‘You’ve been Scroogled'” T-Shirts and Coffee mugs on sale (complete with Google Chrome logos) and it turns out Google employees are purchasing these as a joke and also make the argument that in order to buy them you need a Microsoft Account with full identity information. Who’s really stealing more customer data? We at RealGamerNewz aren’t really sure, but take a look at these ridiculous ‘back-and-forth’s between the two less-than-professional companies’ representatives and their so-called crimes against privacy.

***Editor’s Note: It’s important that we make readers aware that Google has said its users “can’t expect privacy” (word for word quotation that their own search engine can give you plenty of sources on) and Microsoft, Google, Apple, alongside many other software giants have admitted publicly that they are working with the United States spy program for the NSA. There’s nowhere to turn though, this is truly a global thing and it is here to stay protesting be damned. These faux-battles between MS and Google are likely a trick to get people out of the loop thinking that only one company is responsible for spying. Here’s some more information as well as the back and forth bullying between Google and Microsoft in the form of memes created by them and their supporters.

Freefall Racers Review

2536361-box_ffr

Freefall Racers is a Kinect racing game which basically consists of Kinect-enabled free falling with a parachute, but these are flying squirrels so you get that nature feel too I suppose.

screenlg3

Soundtrack, Audio, Voice: The game’s soundtrack is intended for younger audiences but kind of comes off a little bit too childish for older players to enjoy while playing, which is a shame. For what little voice acting that is a part of the game, it’s something like you would see on Nick or Cartoon Network, not like that is a bad thing at all just that this is the best way to describe it. Sometimes, even when you mix settings, the audio will just fail out into silence for a solid 3 seconds.

free-fall-racers-1

Graphics, Physics, Glitches, Engine Performance: Honestly the graphics are the best part of this game in some aspects. The art style the developers went with makes for some really good looking lighting and scenery. The physics of Freefall Racers are okay, but sometimes when you’re flying it will not go along with the movements the player is trying to give the Kinect. It also glitches out sometimes. The player could be flying and the on-screen character will just teleport backwards change into another character model. Overall it has good graphics but is just messy. Not every session turns out to have these problems, but it’s pretty bad; I would every one out of three.

free-fall-racers-2

Kinect / Gameplay: The whole point of Freefall Racers is to move your arms along a certain path of flowing movement to either hit objectives, dodge objects, and to simply race. Though this title does a bad job of using Kinect to it’s fullest, it can be a very fun experience at times. Unfortunately the glitches just mess up the gameplay so much that gameplay often quickly gets to the point where you do not even want to play it anymore. The variety of characters offered are about nine, but the only difference is how they act. They all act like little kids, which is funny.

Some of the tracks in the game are badly made and are almost always either too short, or too long. If neither of those apply, they simply are not fun. As I said before, it is not bad all the time but it is a pretty miserable gameplay experience most of the time. Even though the interesting thing was that there were very subtle and smooth body movements at the start of the game, Freefall Racers just got clunkier and clunkier as it went on. There are also some power ups such as a wind gust, but they honestly don’t help the fun factor at all.

t_freefallracers_launchtrailer

Replay Ability: Moderately Low

Final Verdict: Freefall Racers is a title that is enjoyable mainly for younger audiences. It could be something that the family plays as well, mainly the casual gamer. But if you’re a hardcore, or just experienced gamer you will not like this title at all, unless you’re an obsessed motion gamer. Freefall Racers get’s a 3.5 out of 10 for having way too many glitches and issues even a considerable time after release.

Impressive!

New Middleware Software For Making PS4 & Xbox ONE Games Look Awesome – YEBIS 2

Silicon Studio YEBIS 2

You may have noticed Ubisoft’s Fighter Within being revealed at this year’s Gamescom 2013, and if you are into fighting, motion capture, or just Ubisoft in general you were probably pretty excited by what was shown. Well you may be surprised to learn that this Xbox ONE exclusive Kinect game being developed for Ubisoft by indie development studio Daoka is actually being powered by a next-gen middle-ware solution created by Silicon Studio.

For those not in the know, middle-ware is a type of software that is often utilized in the video game industry to eliminate development time and costs by using existing technology sort of like a game engine but in this case YEBIS 2 is primarily focusing on post-processing visual effects. YEBIS 2 was also be used in the ‘Agni’s Philosophy’ Tech Demo performed by Square Enix and will be used in a number of other projects yet to be announced. For more information check out the YEBIS 2 tech demo below or hit them up if you’re interested in doing business at their website HERE.

Dead Rising 3 Producer Impressed Xbox ONE’s Fluid Experience

Dead Rising 3 Xbox ONE Exclusive Day ONE

Jobbing Ed Norton, the Executive Producer behind Dead Rising 3, brings his impressions of the Kinect experience on Xbox ONE stating that it’s “like nothing ever seen”. The integration of Kinect with Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox ONE debuting this Holiday 2013 will revolutionize the user interface of gaming as you will be able to do a lot with your voice and just by moving slightly (thanks to a more precise tracking system, less verbose interaction is required) and people sitting around with you can even join in by grabbing your phone through Xbox SmartGlass to drop air-strikes down on zombies in-game.

Just as Xbox 360 gained praise, hype, and popularity for its fluid, all-in-one gamer experience and fully integrated interface, it appears Xbox ONE will have a chance to win many fans by doing the same. Take a look at the following trailer released by Microsoft Game Studios:
