League of Legends competitive circuit begins this weekend for North America!
LCS has really grown since the last time we saw it when TSM defeated Cloud 9.
New rules have been set as long as the addition of 2 new team slots bringing the total up to 10 teams now! The 2 major rules that have been placed are 1. “All Players must have a set of peripherals to leave at the LCS studio” this means they are really cracking down on any forms of cheating and tampering with equipment used to play. Apparently there has been some cases of cheaters in the game being involved with equipment having “bot like” programs installed on them. Imagine a mouse that has macro’s on it and practically plays the game for you! Unfair. Hopefully this can be avoided for such a large competition though.
The second rule is that all coaches must be dressed in appropriate business attire Because they are representing a huge organization and League of Legends itself. This rule isn’t really a big deal but the Koreans who professionally game have been doing this from Day One. This is probably because the organizations pay big money to the players and the coaches. In Korea, Video Games are widely accepted as a sport (even more so than in USA despite Obama and The White House declaring Competitive Gaming as a Sport in America.
There was also another minor rule that was established saying that sponsorship for teams can be pretty much anything but a competitive game. This event was brought up around last split when the ever so famous porn site Youporn wanted to sponsor one of the LCS teams and there was a huge controversy about this. Many in the MOBA community thought it was highly inappropriate even if Youporn was bringing a lot of money to the table. However, under this rule Youporn can now sponsor a LoL team. Any brand except for other competitive MOBA games can sponsor a LoL team in theory under this new rule.

Valve is changing the rules when it comes to Steam gift trading for the better. For the first part it still remains the same – for Direct Gifting , a user can buy a game directly for another user, which they can redeem and start enjoying right away. The change is when a gift is purchased and put into the purchaser’s inventory as an Inventory Gift , that game will now be subject to a (30) thirty day wait before the game is available to trade. Valve is doing this so that trading games can be a much better experience, it also lowers the number of times games are traded then being revoked because the purchaser payment option didn’t work such as a credit card not working properly or fraudulent trades. This seems like the right way to go so that no longer will someone be gifted a game and then it later being revoked since the payment was part of a charge-back scam or the payment didn’t work.

If you’ve got the cake, then make it shake. That’s something to live by these days (or at least the average human’s behavior would lead one to believe so), so how about dropping a straight milly on Volition and Deep Silver’s Saints Row IV: Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition. Take a look at the flier above or click here for the full-sized image. Since I’m sure most of you just came to see what all the fuss is about and do not have a million dollars to consider this deal, please refer to our dedicated Saints Row IV section for info about the upcoming open-world game that you might actually find useful rather than just entertaining.
CLICK HERE to see the listing in UK’s GAME retailer where the million dollar edition of Saints Row IV is being offered exclusively (though you will probably have to prove yourself worthy to Deep Silver before you can actually be approved to buy it). There is only one copy available by the way, so if you are daddy money banks out there and you want it you better act now.

“BioWare is developing a multiplayer mode for Mass Effect 3 and is currently hosting a Community Art Contest that allows players to create and submit their own art. The goal is to create unique banners that will be introduced on this upcoming multiplayer/challenge mode.”
“If you’ve been playing a lot of multiplayer since the release of Mass Effect 3: Retaliation, chances are that you’ve already gotten yourself a sizeable collection of in-game banners. As proud of those accomplishments as you are, have you ever thought about how cool it would be to create a banner of your own? Well, wonder no more!
How would you like to create a multiplayer banner and have your design featured in Mass Effect 3? If the answer to that question is, “yes,” then here are a few details that you’ll need to get started:
IMPORTANT: Before participating in the Mass Effect 3 Community Art Contest, please read the Official Contest Rules. You will have to acknowledge and accept these rules when you email your submission.
- The contest begins on February 15, 2013 at 12PM GMT, and submissions will be accepted until February 22, 2013 at 6PM GMT.
- Pick your favorite Mass Effect 3 multiplayer challenge and use that as the inspiration for your own design. If obtaining N7 Mastery was your crowning achievement, create a banner that you feel best captures that pride. Please note that weekend operation challenges do not apply for this contest.
- Multiplayer banners are should be 512 pixels x 128 pixels. Click here to download our banner template. Please submit in .jpg .bmp, .gif, .psd, or .png file format only.
- Email your submissions along with your full name, birthdate, country and the name of the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer challenge that inspired your artwork to firstname.lastname@example.org. All email submissions must also include an active acknowledgement and acceptance of the contest rules with the statement “I have read and accept the Mass Effect 3 Community Art Contest Official Rules.” No exceptions.
- All submissions will be voted on by the BioWare team from February 22, 2013 12PM GMT to February 26, 2013 at 6PM GMT. Each submission will be based on creativity, originality, and accuracy to the Mass Effect 3 challenge it was inspired by. BioWare will select 5 winners and include their artwork in-game as a multiplayer banner.
Looking for inspiration? Look no further than the existing banners that have been awarded in multiplayer. The volus have always had a natural affinity for biotics. Think you can create something better for the Biotic Mastery Challenge, then submit your design to us!”
