Another up-to-date look at Terraria Otherworld

! Update: On April 13, 2018 Re-Logic announced that work on the Terraria Otherworld project was discontinued and the game’s final version has been cancelled. They’ve listed a number of reasons why and Lessons They’ve Learned on their official blog.

Awhile ago I wrote an article in regard to Terraria Otherworld. Well after a bit of waiting here’s a lot more information regarding this game. Terraria Otherworld’s alpha was released a few years ago. From first glance some would say it is just a remake of Terraria but that is definitely not true.

On this 3 year anniversary since its original announcement, and several months after a new management team has taken over the project, let’s take an up-to-date look at how this game turned out. In fact Terraria Otherworld adds some, if not many, new features, such as vital NPCs.

Terraria: Otherworld Announced

Terraria Otherworld

Re-Logic and Engine Software has announced a new entry to the hit 2D action-adventure sandbox game franchise Terraria. They call it “Terraria: Otherworld”. Terraria: Otherworld is set in an alternate dimension within the current Terraria Universe. In Terraria: Otherworld the main goal of the game is to survive, build and bring the world back from the brink of destruction. Not much is known about this world but what we do know is this much is confirmed. From the looks of the trailer a lot has changed but a lot has also remained the same: a.k.a the health bar, mana bar and some sprites shown in the trailer.

Although some of these things look the same a lot has changed. From the looks of it there are definitely new enemies, new terrain features including different trees, backgrounds, bushes etc, as well as new character sprite animations as well as new weather animations. Now a lot of people are assuming this is the next Terraria game but in fact Otherworld has been confirmed to be a spin off and Terraria 2 may very well be still be in production yet. Think of this as something a little sweet in between. ūüėČ As the new game’s developments and features are announced come back to check RGN for more and more on this new Spin-off from Re-Logic and Engine Software.
