Black Ops 4 marks the first Treyarch developed COD game since 2015 and the extra time taken for its development certainly shows. While not perfect, this year’s Call of Duty has taken on a lot of praise from skeptics and loyalists alike. There’s a reason why sales in the series have been going downhill whenever Treyarch isn’t involved, and with BO4 they’ve proven once again that they’re not to be underestimated. At the top of the priority list for BO4 is quality, performance, precision, and a brand-new take on battle royale.
There’s a lot of reason as to why players may be hesitant to embrace a Call of Duty game with no offline campaign mode, including previous problems in the series like Treyarch de-ranking players in Black Ops 2 for having high-speed internet, rather than admitting their own game engine problems. While those kinks have been ironed out this time around, there’s still a few issues to be had. Despite a well-intended Black Ops Pass and reduced Black Market grind, the micro-transactions in Black Ops 4 don’t manage to feel appropriate.
With all of that being said, the game still accomplishes a lot for the series and has won back many gamers leading to over $500 million USD in sales within the first 24 hours alone. For the 30% (on average) of folks who earn trophies in the single player campaign modes of COD, you’ll have to dedicate to online multiplayer this time around. However, for the other 70% of the franchise audience, you’ve been given more bang for the buck with 3 full online games packed into one – and hosting many different modes and variations.
The day before last we reported on how Black Ops 4 had instituted a fun but overbearing reward system for gameplay unlocking everything from stickers to put on guns, gun skins, spray paint designs, character costumes and outfits, to even a brand new Blackout character (at tier 199).
We heard your feedback in our comments section as well as social media and while many of you agreed with our assessment that the grind required to unlock these items was just too much. It turns out that Treyarch may have heard your voices as well, and it turns out they’ve found that they agree.
Although major debate has been going on between whether Red Dead Redemption 2 or Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will end up being the top seller of 2018, currently we have seen Black Ops 4 snatch up that spot. In most markets physical sales are dying out while digital sales are not always easy to get the statistics for. Because of this, some have been drawing false conclusions from UK physical sales data which by all means is quite outdated, and perhaps irrelevant.
Since the NPD made data private and stopped announcing on their own, game companies now announce their own data, with Activision Blizzard stating that Black Ops 4 has made over $500 million USD in three days. This is still less than the record holding GTA V which is the best selling game of all time, and made $1 billion USD in its first three days, and even less than Black Ops 2 which made $500 million in 24 hours, but few games have come this close to matching those.
While many of you may have been surprised to see Call of Duty Black Ops 4 release without any microtransaction scandals, reviews have been favorable to the game, and even gamers who didn’t expect to enjoy the title have given it praise, there were signs of something suspicious in the game last weekend.
Now that Black Ops 4 has entered the wild we have had a good amount of time playing in all of its various modes and wanted to begin our coverage of the title leading up to a full review later on down the line. For starters, yes, this is the first COD to come with no single player campaign – but Black Ops 4 still has a story. We’ll get to that more in-depth in our full review coming forthwith. In the mean time, let’s talk about some of the game’s performance issues, grand achievements, pros and cons, and early impressions you can expect when first turning on the game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launched today and although the full game contains plenty of content for players, there is some question this time around as to what exactly is included in the game’s Season Pass. Taking a slightly different approach from previous COD games and their Season Pass structures, Treyarch claims to be dropping “more content with more frequency” in the new Black Ops Pass.
Some controversy existed when players realized that the Black Ops Pass was only available through purchasing special editions of the game so far, making it unclear if it would even be available at a later date or if gamers would have to pay full price for each DLC individually instead. But that turned out to be false, Black Ops Pass can be purchased on its own. So what’s exactly being offered here? And what’s in the base game?
The “love it or hate it” shooter franchise from Activision Blizzard, Call of Duty, has dropped story mode this time around in favor of Zombies, Multiplayer, and an all-new Battle Royale system called ‘Blackout’ which has drawn much fan criticism and controversy already. PS4 users will get the chance to play first.
Treyarch Studios has revealed when PS4 owners can take part in the multiplayer beta for Call of Duty:Black Ops 3. According to a tweet sent out today, the Beta will begin on August 19th.
If you want in on the Beta, you can pre-order the game at any participating retailer for guaranteed access. The Xbox One and PC Betas will launch at a later date due to Activision’s new partnership with Sony, so stay tuned for more info on that.
We're excited to announce that the #BlackOps3 Multiplayer Beta will begin on 8/19 starting on PS4. More information coming soon!

Wonder no more, the gameplay reveal is here for the next chapter in the Call of Duty franchise. Pushing things further into the future and continuing the trend of Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 will feature cybernetic soldiers as rumored. There’s also a New Zombies Mode, though that is not mentioned in this particular trailer. The entire story mode of Black Ops 3 will be playable as co-op with 2 players on the same system or 4 players online.
This one’s all about the gameplay footage. It appears the title won’t be available for PS3 / Xbox 360 but that is yet to be totally ruled out. For now though, assume this game is only going to be available on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox ONE when it launches this November 6, 2015. Take a look at some of the brand new stuff you can do in the game with your cybernetic technology. *Pre-ordering the game will also ensure Beta Access.

The game takes place fifty years from now with a focus on cybernetics as well as the challenge that technology brings mankind. Long since time technology has acted as a double edged sword for the human species who must find the right balance between its evolution and its obedience to our will. Treyarch launched a new Live Action trailer in anticipation for the official Gameplay Reveal which will take place this Sunday and has offered both Double XP as well as Double Weapon XP for Black Ops 2 players starting this Friday and ending on Monday.

We’re back from our brief Easter Holiday Vacation and we share our opinions on the goings on of the past week including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and what we think of it so far, Black Ops 3 and everything there is to know about it up to this point, Not A Hero from Devolver Digital + Roll7 and its current exclusivity to Steam, WB Games and Capcom arguing on Twitter over whether Mortal Kombat has more lifetime sales or Street Fighter (more like WB Games getting called out for false advertising the MK series in general, just by a hair), and our own confirmation that Yes, H1Z1 is still coming to PS4 (eventually), as well as some very inspiring news from the world of Tech as a brighter future approaches.
These stories and more in today’s RGN Week In Review. Sources can be found below the video.

Activision has dropped a very cryptic trailer, teasing the next game in their Juggernaut franchise.
The teaser features multiple symbols and dialogue from the previous Black Ops games, before revealing the Roman Numeral 2, which then transforms into a 3. It’s Safe to say this year’s Call of Duty will be Black Ops 3.
A full reveal is then promised for April 26, 2015.

Apparently an alleged screenshot of an in game message in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, is doing the rounds on the internet. It states that the online servers for the game will be disconnected on the 15th of May and June for Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively.
If you still play Black Ops 2 don’t be alarmed though, as the picture is 100% fake. According to Activision’s support account on twitter, the photo is doctored and fans have “nothing to worry about”.
@snuggymafia Hey there. This is a doctored photo. You have nothing to worry about. ^DL
So all is well. If you prefer to play the multiplayer of Treyarch’s 2012 entry in the long running franchise — or planned on picking it up, then you can. No attempts to force you to get the disappointing Call of Duty: Ghosts or irritating Advanced Warfare are being made. Not yet anyway.

Exo Zombies Havoc Trailer of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in 60fps. Actors: Rose McGowan, John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, and Jon Bernthal star in the latest teaser for the upcoming Exo Zombies mode DLC for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on Xbox ONE, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Little is known about the exact origins of the storyline for this online multiplayer co-op campaign but as far as COD fans last heard – Treyarch was not passing the baton on the original storyline to Zombies.
The original storyline to the first Zombies mode was retired and given its own sort of ending with Black Ops 2’s final DLC pack, I still have Black Ops 1 and 2 for PS3 with all of the DLC’s and replay them with friends for their Zombies modes (admittedly need to get around to re-buying World at War and those as well for the collection). So essentially, this was a surprise to most people as they expected Zombies to be done with – or in the least, for Treyarch to be making their return with it. It’s now seeming that Activision may have a Zombies mode every year implemented into the game, but that for this year the DLC mode is likely required to be purchased rather than come as part of the original game to the dismay of millions of gamers worldwide.
Take a look at today’s new Havoc Trailer below in 1080P 60 frames per second.
