[Update: FAKE] Leaked Photos of New PS4 UI Showcase Improved Features

PS4Update2

Update: It has been confirmed as fake by Sony on Reddit

Several pictures have been leaked online showing improvements to the PS4 user interface via the next platform update. In the photos fans will note the return of a popular feature on the PS3; the ability to create custom folders on the home screen for their games and other digital content. The omission of this feature left a lot us scratching our heads when the PS4 was released.

Notifications have also been streamlined; no longer requiring the player to back out of the game they are playing to view a trophy they just unlocked or to accept an invite. You can view the leaked screens below.

Thanks to BTG for the find. Here’s hoping it is legitimate.

Xbox is going to discontinue Microsoft Points (Rumor)

There will be a new dashboard update for Xbox Live that’s rumored to be discontinuing Microsoft Points as retail currency. The user interface will be refreshed with smaller Live Tiles, similar to what Microsoft is developing for Windows 8.1, Microsoft is also said to be changing the look of the Xbox dashboard, with the possibility of darker and lighter themes. The update will go into beta testing during June and July 2013, but won’t be available to the public until August. These are only rumors. But they seem to be legit.

Sony Announces PlayStation Vita 2.06 Software

Sony PlayStation announced today that the PS Vita will be getting an update patch version 2.06 will be heading to the dual-analog handheld. The patch is said to be improving system software stability.

According to our staff’s gaming/communication experiences, there may be bugs causing the User Interface to crash during gameplay while on Skype over wireless. Sony’s patch will address “stability for some features”, but they don’t mention which features. We expect a full rundown of what the patch entails to follow soon.
