Mega Ran & K-Murdock : #ForeverFamicom 5th Year Anniversary USA Tour & Behind The Scenes Commentary

Celebrating 5 years of Gamer Hip Hop, a unique blend known to some as Nerdcore, GamerHop, ChipHop, but to Mega Ran and K-Murdock it’s a way of life, the Forever Famicom Tour spans the United States (exact dates etc. below, scroll down) and marks the latest in a steady string of tours centered around what is likely the most recognized video-game inspired music act out.

Mega Ran and K-Murdock put together Forever Famicom with the love of video-games as a centerpiece theme and as gaming is a way of life for so many millions of different people worldwide, this led to a universal soundtrack that is mostly about Mega Ran’s life but can be related to by many listeners. Production was crafted in such a way that K-Murdock has managed to mix retro with modern sound creating something completely new and different that is progressively changing and morphing throughout the track.

>> The resulting journey is a ride of audio-induced nostalgia called FOREVER FAMICOM

So many people like Forever Famicom that it has been performed live many times, Forever Famicom DLC was released with instrumentals including never-before-used exclusives to the original album and brand new tracks, then later more tracks were featured in Forever Famicom DLC 2, and DLC 3. The Forever Famicom 5th Anniversary Tour will cover NYC, Boston, STL, Detroit, Chicago, and more. Check out the full listing within this article and click the tour date for more information or getting tickets. More Info At MegaRan.com

Mega Ran Documentary Mega-Lo-Mania: Director’s Cut Gets Brand New Trailer

Mega Ran Mega Lo Mania Director Cut Documentary - RealGamerNewz

Everybody knows, how the story goes. The money and the clothes, they all come and go. But no matter how intimate you are with Random AKA Mega Ran’s rise from being an unknown aspiring rapper to one of the most respected Nerdcore Hip Hop acts in the business, Mega Lo Mania is a documentary that will add to that perspective an inspiring tale of how doing what you love really can pay off if you work hard enough. There’s no question that the stars aligned for Mega Ran when he decided to put pen to pad and rap about the video games he grew up loving so much (namely the Mega Man series at the start, and eventually titles like Final Fantasy VII, River City Ransom, and many more).

Though never necessarily expecting success, fusing video games with hip hop is what brought the passion back to Random’s music making days. Partnered with DJ DN3 and numerous others who are met throughout this excellently crafted documentary, Random gives us an inside look into what goes on behind the scenes at one of his biggest events touring Las Vegas, Hollywood, and Tempe, Arizona with the vibrant personalities of The Lo-Classics who are also detailed.

Originally Mega-Lo-Mania: The Documentary began as a straight to DVD film. Director Michael Cardoza of Glasswork Media and Mega Ran then took to Kickstarter with the goal of bringing the feature to a larger audience via Netflix, iTunes, Redbox, and Amazon. This required funding in addition to expanding the film into a Director’s Cut edition. The goals and many stretch goals were successfully met as over $18,000 was raised with backer perks including DVD copies of the Director’s Cut, Mega Ran apparel, copies of a 2015 album soon to release, artwork, digital downloads, one of a kind items from Mega Ran’s shows on stage, and more.

This new release giving fans a door into the life of Mega Ran —- will be this summer when digital platforms are ready, only kickstarter backers have access to it for now.

MegaRan Announces Kickstarter to get Mega-Lo-Mania: Director’s Cut on Netflix + Redbox #RealGamerMusic

MegaRan 8 Bit

Mega-Lo-Mania (our review coming soon) is a documentary from Random AKA MegaRan which was debuted by Glasswork Media at FilmBar the award winning wine bar and movie theater in Phoenix, AZ where a snapshot of the heavily touring indie musician’s life and what it’s like to be MegaRan for a few crazy shows hitting Arizona, Cali, and Vegas with a few unexpected turns of events causing Ran to think on the fly in order to give the fans what they want as he’s done worldwide now with albums covering everything from MegaMan to Final Fantasy and also speaks on life experiences growing up in this modern society us gamers know about all too well.

The original documentary has been released physically and is available digitally still HERE but would be much more accessible to all of MegaRan’s many, many fans around the world who use Netflix, iTunes, Redbox, Amazon, and more. In addition to breaking down the cost of distributing to all of these platforms, Big Ran let’s us know there will be an added bonus to fans getting this Kickstarter achieved. The entire project will be reworked as the longer, second polish release Mega Lo Mania Director’s Cut. Take a look at the following excerpt from the Kickstarter below:

Mega Lo Mania Director’s Cut DVD

“We put in the man-hours to create the content and put it out, out of our own pockets, but when it came time to figure out distribution and promotion, we were quite frankly out of money. Additionally, most retailers and festivals require a film to be 60 minutes, and ours is currently at 40. This requires reshooting, repackaging and re-releasing the video, as Mega Lo Mania: The Director’s Cut.

This Director’s Cut will feature:

  • more performance footage
  • interviews with legendary and influential musicians about me and our work
  • more history of chiptunes, VGM and hip-hop
  • much more!

Here’s a breakdown of costs:

  • Getting a movie on Netflix (HD)= $999
  • Getting a movie on iTunes= $1500 + yearly fees
  • Getting a movie into Redbox =$1395
  • Getting a movie into Amazon= $150
  • Getting your movie into just HALF of the hundreds of film festivals all over the world= over $1000 in submission fees

total= over $5000… to distribute a film…AFTER making it. Whoa.

So, here we are, back at Kickstarter to figure out how the heck to get the most out of the time and effort we’ve already put in. Tough stuff.”

There’s also a ton of great stuff for just pledging what you can towards this release!

Including:

  • Copies of the Director’s Cut DVD as well as MegaRan’s 2015 Album “Wouldn’t Miss It For The World”
  • Digi Packs of everything being released with Free Bonus Live MP3 for those cyber ballers out there.
  • USB Drives and/or CDs full of MegaRan tracks (retail + unreleased)
  • Signed 8 Bit Ties – Ran is literally selling the tie off his neck to make this happen! (3 available)
