Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Global Sales Likely Around 1 Million

Metal-Gear-Solid-V

NPD numbers are back for the Xbox ONE and PlayStation 4 title Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (which effectively introduces the forthcoming Phantom Pain installment of the franchise). With 204K of the sales being on PS4 / XO, 74K were still made on legacy Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.

In Japan the game is looking at over 340,000 sales tabulated thus far – and with an estimate for Europe temporarily holding the spot for real EU numbers it’s easy to see that MGSV:GZ has likely sold about a million copies at this time.

Many have grabbed the game already and feel that it’s a title that gets them pumped up for the Phantom Pain release coming down the line. These numbers show that the installment of that effect is decent, the numerous price drops Ground Zeroes underwent before, after, and during its launch certainly didn’t hurt either.

More updates and adjustments to this info will be made by analysts as Konami releases more information thereby expanding the context of the MGSV sales conversation.

Sales News: FIFA 14 Becomes #1 Selling Game In UK

FIFA 14 by EA SPORTS

Last week we saw Rockstar Games still dominating the UK charts hot off the achievement of becoming the fastest selling game of all time, this week FIFA 14 has accomplished a truly impressive feat by becoming the #1 selling title in the UK for the week ending on September 28, 2013. FIFA 14 is an extremely popular game in the UK, so this isn’t exactly a shocker but will certainly make EA Sports happy. Direct competitor Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 still maintains a respectable slot in the Top 5 from publisher Konami even though it’s currently available for considerably less platforms than FIFA 14, showing that British gamers value their ability to choose from a variety of ‘Football’ (or as the US calls it ‘Soccer’) video game titles.

Capcom Q1 Profits Down 6.2% From Last Year Citing Lack of Releases

Capcom

Earlier today you may have noticed that RealGamerNewz released news pertaining to Nintendo and Take-Two Interactive financial reports which have been released for investors and public domain. Here are some highlights from Capcom’s financial report which has been released today.

Although Resident Evil Revelations (Review HERE) and Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen have reportedly met their sales expectations for Capcom, a financial report released today from the Japan-based publisher notes a 6.2% drop in profits compared to the previous Q1 of last fiscal year. Capcom cites a lack of releases as the reason for this, and anticipates a huge increase in profits to come with the planned release of next-gen games including Dead Rising 3 exclusive to Xbox ONE coming out alongside next-gen systems this Holiday 2013. Investors may want to know the specific figure given by Capcom for net profit loss in Q1 of Fiscal Year 2014 is listed as 828 million yen which is equivalent to $8.4 million.

RGN POLL: PlayStation 4 was voted the “Most Wanted Nex Gen Console” by 56% of Gamers

RGN Poll PS4 XO

The results are in. At the time of this post the Sony PlayStation 4 has a massive lead over the Microsoft Xbox ONE in the RGN Nex Gen Poll. Xbox ONE is leagues beyond Valve’s console entry for Steam and the Nintendo Wii U however, and seems a formidable opposition has emerged once again between MS and SONY. Take a look at the numbers below at the time of this post, and if you don’t like them; vote! It’s not over until the fat lady sings.

RGN Nex Gen Poll

-PlayStation 4 was voted the “Most Wanted Nex Gen” by 56% of a sampling of 1,000 voters.

-Xbox ONE came in second by a strong lead with 26% of a sampling of 1,000 voters.

-Put together the Steambox from Valve and the Wii U from Nintendo divided the remaining 19% with 8% siding with Valve and 11% siding with Nintendo for their most wanted/preferred hardware during the next-generation cycle of gaming.

This RGN Nex Gen Poll will continue running and if you disagree with these results we offer you the chance to change them by voting by clicking on the RGN Poll on the side of your web browser or by visiting the Poll itself HERE.

State of Decay Sales Numbers Are In, They Are Decent

State of Decay sales numbers are in. For an XBLA game this title is doing big numbers, over 500,000 sales have been achieved thus far and it’s already being christened with rewards by its creators. State of Decay will receive a new Sandbox mode further expanding the freedom-based zombie survival gameplay experience currently offered only on the Xbox 360. There will also be a Windows PC version of the game planned and released to commemorate its success thus far. It will be interesting to see now if the game will continually be expanded or if a sequel will come to fruition instead.

New Data: PlayStation 3 is the Most Played Gaming Console, Global Console Sales to Decrease 19%

PS3 VS XBOX 360 SALES 2012

News has broken that Strategy Analytics are predicting the video game consoles business to drop by 19% in 2012, citing a downward trend worldwide. Strategy Analytics go on to present the PlayStation 3 as the most actively played gaming console. They also state that even Nintendo with their Wii U push will not be immune to this.

It’s possible that this data (if accurate) lead to a quicker deployment of next-gen console technology. On the other hand it could signal a shift to new formats. Check out the full press release below for even more interesting pieces of information:

“BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The global TV games console market will drop by 19 percent in 2012, according to the latest research from the Strategy Analytics Connected Home Devices service, “Global TV Games Console Outlook: a Transitional Year Awaiting a New Wave.” The report projects a decline in global Xbox 360 sales 13.8 million units in 2012; and PS3 sales will also fall, to 13 million units. Nintendo is fully focused on preparing for the upcoming Wii U release; however, even the launch of the new Wii U will not save Nintendo, or the industry, from this downward trend.

“On the other hand, Xbox 360 appeals to a broader audience, as more consumers buy the Microsoft console for non-gaming as well as gaming functions.”

Additionally, this recent Strategy Analytics ConsumerMetrix survey shows that users of Sony’s PS3 games console showed the highest level of usage frequency, topping its two major competitors. Forty-four percent of PS3 owners use their console on at least a weekly basis, in contrast to 40 percent of weekly Xbox 360 users and 30 percent of Wii users.

“Last year, Xbox 360 sales beat PS3 globally, despite its relative weakness outside the US. However, Strategy Analytics research indicates that PS3 is slightly more popular among core gamers than Xbox 360,” comments report author, Jia Wu, Director in the Strategy Analytics Connected Home Devices service. “On the other hand, Xbox 360 appeals to a broader audience, as more consumers buy the Microsoft console for non-gaming as well as gaming functions.”

“Sales figures alone do not determine winners in this generation’s console competition,” adds Kantideep Thota, Analyst at Strategy Analytics. “Wii has sold the highest number of games consoles cumulatively; but Sony’s and Microsoft’s advancement in online game distribution and cross-platform integration grants them higher user engagement and a solid foundation for the next generation console war.”
