Tristans Twisted World: Assassin’s Creed 3 Review

By Tristan Werbe in Reviews

The game that lets you relive the past in many different ways through out the series brings you to the American colonys. This time around you play as half white half native american Connor. His journey throughout the game has some of the best and worst moments in the series. So the question is how did this trilogy end for Desmond Miles and other characters.

Soundtrack, Audio, Voice: The soundtrack in Assassin’s Creed 3 is by far the best in the series. It ranges from sad tones to epic battle scenes that make you feel like a hero. The audio is balanced on all levels expect for some of NPCs in the citys, as they are drowned out either by main characters or music. The voice acting in Assassin’s Creed has always been good but it even goes higher in this game. Bringing Hayden Christensen to do the voice of Connor was a smart move. Connor may have not been the most interesting character but by far the best voice work in the series. Adrian Hough as Haytham was a good move to for his interactions with Connor being interesting scenes to watch unfold.

Graphics, Physics, Glitches, Engine Performance: The graphics are stellar I thought the previous titles looked good but this one blows them away in most areas. Physics in the Assassin’s Creed games are not much to worry about since they consist of heavy parkour and intense brawl fighting scenes that make it real enough. When this game first released it was a total glitch fest. Who ever was in charge of polishing the game did an awful job as I saw glitches right off the back with Desmond’s pack going through his jacket. Characters would get stuck in odd places, guns floating the air I can name off so many glitches in this game. But now that is patched and the game runs a whole lot smother for console owners, Ubisoft did state they would make shure Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag is polished to it’s best. The Anvil Engine was totally redesigned for the three year project of Assassin’s Creed 3. It was really good looking as I said before but the glitch factor makes me wonder if Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag can live up to the polished promise. In other words it makes the environments since the nature factor of this one mixed with the ocean called for an upgrade in those areas of course. Overall the Anvil Engine is better but not better than ever.

Characters / Enemies: Assassin’s Creed has always revolved around a set of modern setting characters and the past characters of course. Connor, Haytham, Charles Lee, and even Desmond where some of the top characters in this game. I do not want to go to far into characters since it is heavy spoiler area. The enemy AI is a lot smarter but still better made. They just are given more powerful weapons and also the addition of animals that are similar to Read Dead Redemption.

Multiplayer: The Assassin’s Creed multiplayer announced back for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood ever since has become a top dog for a lot of gamers. The multiplayer in this game features a more redefined experience with some new modes such as Wolf pack.  Wolf pack mode is a CO OP mode where you and other players go around a kill people for points. It is a new idea and good thing for the Assassin’s Creed series. The wanted verses modes make you just want play more though.

Gameplay: The game play is similar to old games but changed in big ways. The climbing aspect is pretty much the same style just without the hook from Revelations. The new combat system has a wider window and easier to fight more enemies once. The boat battle system is something I have not really seen before and those missions were some of my favorite.

Story: This story is more of a wide story compared to other Assassin’s Creed games. It seems to be the story was centered around either Modern December 21st end of the world and going to the American Revolution. Connor is not better than Ezio but he actually has the best scene near the end of the game. Some of the aspects fall short of the best one in Assassin’s Creed 2. I can not go to into the story since it is spoiler after spoiler in story but lots of plot twist and a good wide story version of story telling.

Final Verdict: Assassin’s Creed 3 brings ton of new aspects to the field that were very good to improve the game. Connor may not be the best character but it kinda made you feel more like him in the storyline. The game deserves mentions on big time list. I give Assassin’s Creed 3 a 9.55 out of 10

Overall Score: 9.55/10
