Fact or Fiction: Xbox 720 Drops Xbox 360 Compatibility, Xbox Mini to Stream 360 Games in 2013

By Jon Ireson in Rumors

The Xbox Mini has been rumored to have received its own release date for the 2013 fiscal calendar year, specifically in Holiday launch window alongside the Xbox 720 which has yet to be revealed but will likely receive its own press conference May 21, 2013. This Xbox Mini will reportedly allow consumers to stream Xbox 360 digital games owned on their Xbox Live account without the need to download it to a hard drive, thus keeping the price of this Xbox Mini hopefully very low.

The Xbox Mini will not just be for playing streamed 360 games. This rumor may not even be true, however the hypothetical scenario being presented sees gamers with physical discs sticking to their old Xbox 360 systems while the Xbox Mini serves as an always-online box that feeds gaming and movie content through Xbox Live subscription fees and product license purchases. For those who love digital distribution and streaming technology to alleviate the need to download their games before they play, Xbox Mini will provide an alternative way of gaming with your Xbox Live account’s 360 titles, video entertainment, and more including casual games.
