With many proclaiming it as one of the best titles in the entire franchise, the company saving itself from walking off of a financial cliff was represented many times at The Game Awards this year. Rightfully so, Mario of Nintendo is to which we’re referring of course. After the Nintendo Wii U disaster of a platform we are met with a success for the Nintendo Switch and a reclaiming by Nintendo of what was once their own kingdom.
Super Mario Odyssey is the Best Family Game of the Year 2017. In this title Mario is able to take control of nearly anything in the game using his hat. Our own Deputy Editor Tristan Werbe is still preparing Nintendo Switch top lists but this one definitely made it with RGN stating “I found nothing wrong with it. It’s an incredible game.” as well as noting the title is a full installment versus the beta test feel of the 3D World titles. Check out raw, unedited, high quality gameplay of the Bowser’s Kingdom of Super Mario Odyssey below and catch a glimpse of what Nintendo Switch fans through all ages are loving.
The UK version of the eShop store has given us a look at how big the file size for Splatoon 2 is going to be. It appears it’ll be about 3.1 GB which is a bit smaller than I expected. It appears Nintendo has mastered compression with their titles. Splatoon 2 comes out on July 21st only on Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo has just announced a Nintendo Direct for Splatoon 2! It’ll likely be the last real big blowout of information before Splatoon 2 comes out. They will be talking about some of the weapons they have yet to show off, new features, gamemodes, and styles of clothing. Remember the Splatoon 2 Nintendo Direct will be this Thursday on July 6th, at 7 am PT/ 10 am ET. Splatoon 2 releases on July 21st only on Nintendo Switch.

Some details for Fire Emblem Warriors, and the future of Warriors styled Nintendo games have been detailed. Going into local multiplayer features, no word on online multiplayer yet. Along with how some basic leveling works, and how some of the features of the Fire Emblem franchise has made it’s way into Fire Emblem Warriors. Fire Emblem Warriors will launch on Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3ds family of systems sometime in Q3/Q4.
– Includes local co-op, which will be splitscreen – Not any details on any plans for post-launch DLC – You can level up and change classes – You can change the character’s appearance as well – Will be a more difficult mode where you have to think strategically or else you’ll lose characters – A more casual mode where you will not lose characters – Forge bonds between characters, but there is no marriage – Shadow Dragon, Awakening and Fates are the games they’re “focusing” on for the roster – No plans to develop Pikmin Warriors or Wave Race Warriors
Splatoon 2 Pre-Orders in Japan have sky rocketed through the rough. With 800K stand alone copies of the game being pre-ordered there. This is not counting worldwide sales, or even the Switch and Spaltoon 2 Bundles in Japan. It seems that Nintendo has a huge title on their hands that has generated a lot of positive buzz. You can find the figures on COMG to see how it compares sales wise.
Splatoon 2 has approximately 800k preorders in Japan (maybe more, maybe less). In a single day should be top selling Switch game in Japan.
“GoNNER is is a tough as hell procedurally-generated 2D platformer with roguelike elements, following the largely misunderstood and altruistic Ikk on a journey to cheer up his only friend in this world—a giant landbound whale named Sally—by searching for just the right trinket in the deep and dark places nearby. Available now on Nintendo Switch!”
Inkopolis Square is back in Splatoon 2! The hub of the inklings culture, fashion, and cuisine has returned and been expanded upon. Adding some new shops, in the first game we had shops for hats, shirts, shoes, and weapons. Now in this game we have a hairstylist shop, pants, shorts, and more unannounced shops to look forward to. There will be plenty of more updates as we now have just under a month until the release of Splatoon 2, I’m ready for some ink action, are you?
Fire Emblem had a small title card earlier this, letting us know the franchise is coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime next year. Speculation is key here to what it could be like, but I’d like to share my thoughts. We have seen recently with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the upcoming Super Mario Odyssey, embracing larger worlds, new mechanics, and heavily changing up the game, but still staying Mario and Zelda. Fire Emblem has the potential for the same thing.
Fire Emblem could go open world, let you walk through the wilds and towns of the kingdom, running into combat arenas and engaging in classic strategic gameplay. Letting you build up your fortress, but letting you walk into the buildings you built, engaging more directly with NPCs and your party members. Make the games graphics look like the cut scenes from Fire Emblem Fates except in beautiful HD with the power of the Nintendo Switch.
These are just some basic ideas on what the game could be like. I have a feeling with Nintendo’s current resonance of their titles, making Fire Emblem to a much bigger and complex title in all ways in the right direction to go in. We will see and I am sure whatever it is, will be great.
Hong Kong gamers seem to be getting some cool Switch bundles coming their way this summer. Nothing has been made 100% official yet by Nintendo of Hong Kong, but two bundles have been spotted. Hong Kong seems to getting the green and pink joycon Splatoon 2 bundle, and the Monster Hunter XX bundle, which currently is only officially announced for Japan. The launch date is stated for August 25th, which is the same date as it’s Japanese release. It comes with the game, grey joycons, and a special Monster Hunter dock and Switch. It should be cool for Hong Kong gamers, and we will see if it comes to be true.
In Q1 of next year Pencil Art Shooting is coming to the Nintendo Switch eShop. Not much word on it besides that but here is a description of the title.
“Original Journey blends an eclectic mix of gameplay elements including shooting, platforming, tower-defense, racing, and puzzles into a cohesive experience with a strong narrative arc, all set on a mysterious and constantly changing world.

Arm the Rookie with turrets and over a dozen upgrade-able weapons, each with a distinct playstyle best suited to certain situations, then explore Planet Shadow and battle its inhabitants.”
