Sledgehammer Games Developing Call of Duty for 2014 Release

Publisher Activision has revealed today during its investor earnings call that Sledgehammer Games is developing the 2014 release of Call of Duty. This studio recently assisted Infinity Ward on development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

“For the first time, this years Call of Duty game, and future Call of Duty games, are being built on a three year development cycle. There are several advantages to doing this, the first is, of course, quality. This will give our designers more time to envision and to innovate.” The Publisher stated.

This means that Treyarch’s next Call of Duty (Most likely Black Ops 3) won’t drop until 2015 and Call of Duty: Ghosts 2 from Infinity Ward in 2016.  What direction Sledgehammer is taking is unknown at this time, maybe it will be another Modern Warfare. I personally will keep my fingers cross for a full blown third person Call of Duty.

Stay tuned to RGN for more info as it surfaces.
