The Saints Stole Christmas….I mean Save Christmas. The second big DLC for Saints Row IV is here and just in time for the most wonderful time of the year. Off the bat we know it’s Saints Row IV so we know it’s filled with fun game play like flying Santa’s sleigh delivering presents, and jokes filled with funny Christmas puns. Let’s get into the Review shall we?

Soundtrack, Audio, Voice: Songs like Jingle Bell Rock, Carol of Bells, and Dubstep Gun Christmas song keep the bells rocking. Santa’s voice actor fits the jolly role of the timed man, and Elves with high pitched voices match what’s up as well. Even bells and the sleigh sound like Christmas.

Gameplay: With the addition of facing new enemies like Gingerbread men, Gingerbread robots, giant elves… and…. well, normal sized people? Saints Row IV proves to be as addicting as ever. New Dubstep Gun song with Christmas music blasts enemies in the head with holiday spirit but does not really change how it works much. There’s no new powers in this DLC, just a lot of fun Christmas things like delivering presents and coal to kids and fighting Santa Clawz to save Christmas in the virtual world.

Story: Basically the boss of the Saints is a Scrooge, Grinch, whatever, and Future Cyborg Shuandi comes back in time to save Santa because somehow that causes her to lose her arm and Santa Clawz and Zinyack do a bunch of bad stuff. After that the rest of the story is the boss trying to save and learn the true meaning of Christmas despite still being on the naughty list near the top of it… bad Santa! The story does not seem to really effect the overall plot but takes place somewhere later in the game where it appears. At the end there is a montage making fun of  Christmas stuff, like Andrew Lincolns scene in Love Actually, A Christmas Story, etc.

Replay Ability: Moderate

Final Verdict: It is a big funny bundle of Christmas mixed Saints. Very fun throughout but not the best piece of DLC I have seen added to the series. As of now it just captures the feels around Christmas time because, well, hey… it’s Christmas. How the Saints Saved Christmas gets a respectable 7.9 out of 10 and if you’re into the holidays like I am then you’ll want to pick it up. Season Pass owners get it free so why not check it out.
