Powered by UbiArt Framework, the engine used for Rayman Origins and Legends, and boasting an incredible art style, Ubisoft’s Child of Light looks set on charming its way into our living rooms next year. From the creative team behind Far Cry 3, CoLT tells the tale of Aurora, a young girl on a quest to defeat the Black Queen and save the kingdom of Lemuria. Why must this child take on such a obviously dangerous task? Well it seems that the Black Queen has stolen the Sun, Moon and the Stars. Aurora is a princess, pure of heart and armed with a big sword, so clearly she’s the right person for the job.
This will be a coming of age story that will see Aurora grow from a young girl into strong woman in her quest. Child of light is part 2D platformer, part turn based RPG that pays homage to past 16-Bit RPGs such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. You will be able to play through Aurora’s entire quest solo or cooperatively, with a second player taking control of igniculus. Iggy, as I’m calling him, is a glowing blue orb that can aid the young heroine in her quest. He can blind enemies allowing Aurora to land multiple attacks, gather HP and MP orbs, heal her and her party and even traverse certain areas that she can’t. All of the dialogue is written in rhyme, as if the game wasn’t charming enough. Look for more details as the months go by and give the beautiful announcement trailer below a look.
Child of Light will be released digitally for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PC and Wii U in 2014.
