Tristans Twisted World: Mass Effect 3 + All DLC Review

The first big blockbuster game of 2012 Mass Effect 3 the final end to one of the most story driven trilogies in this console generation. Mass Effect 3 The ending was and still is highly a disappointment to most out there. This will probably be the most clear cut review I will ever create. Some in writing but more depth in videocast review. Make things better this review is one year after release of the game.

Soundtrack: It is not as good as Mass Effect but it is still a top notch soundtrack. Music that goes from emotional to epic to dramatic all with a electronic twist in them.

GamePlay: The new Gears of War style game play as some call it is very very good. Each class in single player and multiplayer have there own powers, rolls, melees, and much more. The weapons are very balanced as depending on class, mission, enemy type, and even skill will affect your performance.

Customize: Leveling up weapons and picking what goes on them surpassed Mass Effect 2 but still does not have the pureness of the first game. The powers however are now possibly even more RPG like than Mass Effect. The armor portions are good but mainly seem like for looks unless your looking for challenges.

Characters: The cast of Mass Effect 3 is mixed between new and old but fits well. The main cast has their own personal story’s unlike in Mass Effect 2 where it had 12 squad mates Mass Effect 3 has 7. There all very well done though and fit the overall plot of series.

Story: The story is the ‘epic conclusion’ to the story started in Mass Effect and continued in Mass Effect 2, as well as the conclusion of Commander Shepard’s story. The player’s choices in the previous games were expected to have a much more significant impact on the plot than the choices in Mass Effect had on Mass Effect 2. As Mass Effect 3 is the end of the planned trilogy, the developers are not constrained by the necessity of allowing the story to diverge, yet also continue into the next chapter. This will result in a story that diverges into wildly different conclusions based on the player’s actions in the first two chapters.

Throughout Mass Effect 3, Commander Shepard will be bringing the civilizations of the galaxy together as allies to take back Earth and repel the Reaper invasion. The player’s choices throughout not only Mass Effect 3, but the entire trilogy, will affect the fate of these civilizations and the endings the player can receive. Despite some fans disagree with how it changes the ending but the Extended Cut does makes things matter even though I would have to agree its not that great.

Graphics: Unreal Technology pushed to edge by no doubt it looks spectacular  despite a few glitches here and there it’s a beautiful looking game.

Multiplayer: It was a pleasant surprise with a very addicting horde mode that changed with each DLC. Every character, every weapon added  new experiences also depending on modes.

DLC: There DLC have been ranged from weapon packs to multiplayer to singleplayer. All were very good cheaper than past titles and with Citadel might make Mass Effect 3 the best game ever.

Final Verdict: While it has its down points like the ending it is very awesome in short. If you want to hear about it more in depth listen to the Videocast as I talk about DLC but the score is a 10/10 as I feel its a amazing game and the new Citadel DLC sends the series off on a high note.

Overall Score: 10/10
