It has become a problem how many leaks and rumors we’re having leading up to E3. While our Editor-In-Chief recently ran through a majority of the rumors out there in Pre-E3 2018: Rumor Roundup – the good, the bad, and the ugly, there have been even more rumors popping up since. We aim to cover everything great that E3 has to offer, so be assured that if they are real you’ll probably see them center stage in our wrap-up files come game-day. That being said, I wanted to take a moment to deliver one more rumor at least, which has popped up just a few moments ago.
Avalanche Studios is busy at work on RAGE 2 for Bethesda which was a victim of the Walmart Canada leaks and later confirmed / announced formally. They also announced Generation Zero just today, a new title that will hit Xbox, PS4, and PC in 2019. So they couldn’t possibly be working on another Just Cause game, right? Right!? Well, a new alleged leak suggests that such a game could be in development after all.
Just moments ago a Steam user submitted the following image claiming that an advertisement to pre-order Just Cause 4 came up on their screen alongside the rest of Steam’s new release news. It could be that there was an accidental timing issue, or that this is just a fake based on inside knowledge that the game is indeed real. Either way, Just Cause 4 has been rumored since the Walmart Canada leaks and thus far most of what the retailer accidentally listed online has indeed come to be announced.
If the leak is indeed true, that would mean Avalanche Studios is working on at least three projects at once. While they could easily launch the titles far apart from each other, there is also the possibility being speculated that they’ve recruited another development studio to help them develop the game. This is unlikely as Generation Zero will mark the company’s first time self-publishing. With Just Cause being their flagship game series it would make sense for Avalanche Studios to try and put a good foot forward with their own high quality polish and work to begin defining their publishing arm with an excellent first impression rather than taking such a risk. Or is it another Square Enix project? We will let you know as soon as we learn more!
